I actually think most of ya'll mod this site fairly. Despite the fact that I personally have been temp banned once and had my most popular thread locked (but then thankfully unlocked soon after) 3 times. People don't realize the amount of work that goes into modding a site of this size. I can attest to the fact that you do listen to people's arguments and do act FAIRLY on them in most cases.

Fair enough. I love me some gifs, but seeing a lot of them get over/misused here irked me from time to time.

But, but, but.

If we can't post gifs and funny replies what will make me have a giggle every time I come to this wonderful place?

Intelligent and thought provoking discussions are no fun.

I r sad naow.

I will just have to take comfort in ChrilLe's avatar in this time of hardship and attempt to post more useful posts.

We have an off topic forum for chuckles. We don't appreciate spam there, either, but the rules are a wee bit more lax.

@Otter Great solution, thanks. Will the person still get a notification to say somebody has replied to them?

Edit: Ah, I'm being silly. I assumed it would automatically hyperlink their name like it does on twitter and some other sites.

@Otter wow, how on earth did I not know you could do this??

Great solution, thanks. Will the person still get a notification to say somebody has replied to them?

Sorry, no, it's not a forum function - just a conventional way to address members without quoting them. There is a username tag, I think, but I can't remember it and I think users would have to set it in their notifications settings to know they were tagged.

@cartmaj - yeah, we've been around for longer than some of our members. Pretty crazy.

While you're at it, how about a search function that, y'know.... works. Current work around is using Google to search with "gta forum" added. Kinda (really) lame. But that's just, you know, my opinion... man.

Same thing on Discogs, their search function is so bad, we have reply on doing the same thing.

They have a small team of programmers, so you would think that would be something they would be working on a fix for (instead of adding new features).

Update: The search seems to work now on there, it is a while since I used it (i.e. since before GTA5 was released) :0)

This website has been serving the GTA community since 2001. Isn't it a wonder we only bat an eyelid when people accuse us of power abuse? We know this works and we want nothing for this forum other than it to thrive on lots of active discussion for all GTA fans. We aren't here to punish people, we're here to keep this place clean and a fun environment for everyone involved, so if you want to break the rules, don't take offence when we show you the door :^:

This wasn't really aimed at you Cartmaj, just a general comment.

Especially on 4/20 it was crazy.  Hope this clears stuff up so we won't have to see more spam threads but actual informative threads.  :^:

@bling - Search is on the to-do list of improvements, but it's not that bad currently. :p When using google, if you put "site:gtaforums.com" before your query you'll get better results.

As for search, if Forum Search isn't working out for you, you can always use Google as such.

1. Go to Google.com

2. Type: [Your search words here] "site:gtaforums.com"

3. Boom, results.

I think we all have a different definition of "spam". And I can't help but feel discriminated against.

Yeah, really!  I think scubadaves threads are spam, but he doesn't get banned.  There is a very vague definition of spam.

His threads are, maybe silly, but they're well constructed and far from what the moderators consider as spam.

No, every scubadave thread is life, love, and happiness.

They can take my Ron Paul gifs and one word replies, but they will never take my scubadave, for he will always be in my heart.

Or, we could acknowledge the fact that you're actually pretty clear what sort of sh*t posting we're talking about here, and you're being intentionally obtuse to be a contrarian. Which is also against the rules, in the Demerest clause, subsection b, article 5.

Just looked up Ron Paul (I honestly had no idea on who he was)

Of course, the first thing that came up was the it's happening gif.

You have no right to take such a great gif away!

Correct; however, since we frown mightily upon single image posts, odds that Togepi will be posted should be low, and therefore your statement is quantifiably false and worthy of a one-week temp ban.

How so? I meant no offense.

I recently read this: http://withanopenhea...go-of-judgment/

I recommend you do the same.
