Long story short ...

We're still waiting for this promised 'substantial story DLC'. I'm staying optimistic; it might be here by the summer.

Or in a few weeks or so.

If this was GTA IV, we would still have another 78 days before TLaD releases. 332 for TBoGT.

They are clearly well behind development of GTA Online, I would have expected them to have wanted to release Heists not long after release but there have been the well documented problems.

Now that they have seemingly solved those issues, I would expect the first bit of story DLC about August/September

What's up with all the impatience? Maybe it's because I work half the day six days a week but it's really not that hard to just put the thought on the back burner and wait, or is not for half the V forum? I'm just saying I see so many people starting to complain about this.

Stop these little bitches on youtube who glitch, and post new ones every patch so they ruin the game.  I hate glitchers.

How long was it between GTA 4 and the release of TLAD? About 9-10 months or so?

That's probably how long we're gonna wait. I know TBOGT's wait was shorter

I am very much looking forward to this dlc because it will include the same characters
But I have patience, especially when I'm still really enjoying the game

Oh, definitely. My comment was more tongue-in-cheek than anything else. :)

I'm pretty busy, and probably will be for a long time coming, so I really have no issue with waiting for DLC; it'll hopefully be great when it comes, but I'm not really in a hurry.

We'll get it. Eventually.

The longer we wait for true single player DLC the better. It means to me that they are putting a lot of work into it and it will be as good as TLAD, I hope.

Would you rather they put out ONLY sh*tty packs like they have been doing with GTAO? I know I wouldn't. Free stuff is nice but it's not cool when I am finally willing and desperate to buy actual DLC expansions and the company won't provide.

If we don't get anything substantial by Dec 31st then we can safely say they messed up.

Single player is pretty much dead. It's sad that they let this happen, but maybe they will release SP DLC after heists

Both sides want it, even the people who were disappointed. They aren't "just whiners" like so many people think. Some of us just expect GTA V to get some of the aspects we feel were missing from the core game. It's exactly what happened with GTA IV, which turned a lot of us around.

If this was GTA IV, we would still have another 78 days before TLaD releases. 332 for TBoGT.

This is true, but it's also what should NOT be happening, given consensus that GTA IV's DLC was not sized and timed the most optimally for maximum business success.  Creatively, it was an outstanding treat for fans of all things GTA who really get deeply into the worlds and the stories, but from a business perspective it was too ambitious for DLC (but not ambitious enough to justify getting people hyped for a "new" GTA).  If you look at Red Dead Redemption and Undead Nightmare, Rockstar obviously tried to do it smaller and faster so it would come out before too many people had moved on.

One thing that's different now is we have no idea what else Rockstar is working on. Besides GTA Online plans, obvious opportunities to port GTAV to other platforms, and Agent, if that's still happening, Rockstar's future is completely opaque. It was different in 2009 while we were waiting for GTA IV's DLC, and Rockstar announced everything they were doing:  Red Dead Redemption, L.A. Noire, and Max Payne 3 were all previewed to some extent by then.

^ This is very true. It's very odd how R* is handling GTA V's DLC when you consider how IV's was handled. Those expansions didn't meet expectations, and R*/TTWO believed it had a lot to do with timing and marketing. Well, there is no marketing for the DLC yet, and it has been a long time since the core game launched. People are already tired of waiting.

I'm assuming R* thinks the updates are enough to hold us over, but that wore off quickly for many of us. I would be more interested if the driving had the nuances of IV, but in V the cars just don't add anything special to the experience IMO.

Maybe R* is having issues or something, because it doesn't really make sense to wait this long with no real info about the SP DLC. Going with the same theme as my earlier post. If this was IV, we would've already known the exact release date, some story details, and even our first images 12 days ago.

Even though they were some of the best DLC ever produced EFLC was a commercial failure so R wants to make sure that doesn't happen again.

I know I've waited less time so far than I did for TLAD and TBOGT, but I'm over the prospect of SP DLC. Stupid hackers do nothing but continue to set back this stuff and force R* to put their focus to fixing these issues.

Now I would rather just see a new game, preferably Agent, come from Rockstar.

At this point sp has lost all interest to me... a shame. One thing I know for sure is with Watch Dogs releasing in may, if no dlc for gtav sp has been released, it may be awhile before the game gets any play time if ever, depending on the quality of dlc.
