I recently decided to download TF2 after realizing my computer could run it. However, the game is broken. The menu is often discolored, the sound skips when I try to click anything, and trying to launch any type of game mode gives me a black screen or a freeze while loading. I know I can run the game, but it just won't run. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have never seen this problem.  Would automatically think your PC wasn't strong enough, but we already ruled out that.  At risk of sounding cliche, I'd say re-download it and re-install it.

Have you tried verifying the game cache through Steam?

What is your OS, video card model, and are your drivers up-to-date?

Right Click > Properties > Local Files > Verify Integrity of Game Cache

It seems your download got corrupted. Try to verify the game's cache or uninstal and install the game again. *(I recommend getting Revo Uninstaller to completly delete the game and it's registry.)
