I bought either a $10 and a $5 or two $5s (I really can't recall, though I think it was a $10 and a $5) when I first started playing the game (about two weeks after it went live) because I raced a lot and really wanted a souped-up car of some sort because I really needed it for racing. I think this was even before the $500,000 "stimulus" but I could be wrong (damn, that seems like years ago).

This was ages before the money glitch gave me $26 billion, and I spent most of my free time in the game there toward the end frantically modding cars for newer players who missed the glitch to sell or keep 'cause I wanted to spread the wealth around.

We were all low-level at the start of the game and no one was grinding Rooftop Rumble 24-7 - our "grind" was the Boneyard survival, and while it pays well, it does take a lot of time.

Now that everyone grinds either Rooftop or Coveted, buying a card seems like a waste of money to me now. I wouldn't buy another one. I'm sure they were a waste of money back then, too, but I felt like I had less options, if that makes any sense.

As far as people buying them, hey, it's your thang. Do what you wanna do. I can't tell ya who to sock it to.

It's funny I beat the story and traded it back in. Then heard how awesome the online was, but I didn't want to be broke. So I bought the game and a $50 network card. Within 10min in my first lobby I was "gifted" 350mil. I bought everything in the game. It was great! A little later to protect my funds I made 3 mule characters with 10 adders to sell. I can't proudly say the only glitches I've used were to buy the tank and buzzard. Used the $50 for battlefield premium for my ps4!

Haven't bought a cash card and never will do. Why spend £20-100 on 1.25-8 million in game cash when I can get more than that in an hour duping an Adder.

Cash cards don't get you banned. Its way to easy for Rockstar to detect someone duping, I mean you have a "Money earned through selling vehicles" stat. All Rockstar has to do is pay some kid to flip through random profiles and flag accounts who make way too much money through car sales. Heck, they don't even need to pay them cash. Do some sort of player mod thing like in most games, you will have people coming out of the woodwork for that.

Me too, me too...

$0.

I had no need to buy any initially because I was enjoying the game so much money mattered little and I enjoyed saving.

I glitched for an Entity whilst in the bad sports lobby for 2 days. I felt that if I were being treated as a bad sport for destroying two PVs that were glitched, I may as well be a bad sport and glitch too.

Then the billions of dollars rolled in so I didn't need any. Once Cashgate happened I took a two month break.

Now I'm back and I've sold my Adders and have a few million so still no need.

Probably around $250

Bought a Megalodon for an uncle who had just gotten into the game, a Whale for myself and some Bullsharks for my friends...

Why? Because I can. It´s my way of thanking R* for making such a great game that I´ve spent months on most nights a week as a stress reliever.

Also, it´s because I denounce exploits and cheats, but my personal views on these people are something for another matter...

Ok, I can understand about the Megalodon you got for your old Uncle Jimmy but for your friends?
That's crazy. If I had $250, I'd spend it on anything except cash cards.

That´s the thing; they are my friends. I care deeply for them, they needed a small bump and I find myself in a position that I can spend the money with no reprecussions, so why not?

$250 isn't a lot...it's the same as a night out to any decent night/dance club or 2 visits to my local bar.

Unless you're a teen or unemployed, I can't see the "excess".

You're friends aren't going to enjoy this game much nor will you play with them much longer if all they do is focus on money and grinding the same 2-step mission over and over...or at least I wouldn't.

My friends and I usually find something to do in FR, be it dicking around or improvising a self-imposed "mission" with rules...Or play Captures, VS Missions and DM's in an ongoing quest to unlock weapon tints. We usually play Forced+Pickups in FA though.

You spent 100 dollars on fake money?

I am going to quote a post I made on a different thread, perhaps you will provide me a much better argument than the last person (which is to say, an argument).

You both have no idea on what you are talking about, so I am going to drop some knowledge on ya. Suppose I really want a car; I could go to the junkyard and scavenge some free parts, yes? Get some buddies and work long nights for many months restoring a clunker to pristine condition. Or I could go the other route and pay $10,000 for some guy to do it for me.

By choosing the latter I decided that the value of me not wanting to labour is worth $10,000. That labour (or lack there of) has a monetary value. I do not want to spend my time working on something so I am willing to pay for it. My laziness is worth something ($10,000).

The same applies to GTA. I could spend my time labouring over RR to the point I eat my M1911, or I can do some math: If I can do say, about 12RR/Hour that means one hour of my time is worth just over 200,000 GTA bucks which converted to real money would equal about $2. That means I am working for $5.25 below minimum wage. My time is more valuable, I work for $7.25 an hour and every hour I am grinding GTA bucks is an hour I could ask my boss to keep me on the job for, netting me a loss of $5.25 every hour so every million GTA bucks I make via RR, I loose over $50, normally not a problem since I am more than happy to pay money for fun but grinding is anything but. So instead I buy cash cards since it more accurately represents the value of my time and sanity.

More math:

I usually buy the $50 cash card which is worth 7 hours of my labour. That cash card gives me 3.5m GTA bucks which means one hour of my time (along with my desire to not commit suicide after hearing Martin say the same two lines over and over again) is worth 500,000 GTA bucks, or $5.00/Hour. That means my time on GTA is worth 86% more than yours. Lets go further, sometimes I splurge on the $100 cash card which means I get 8,000,000 GTA bucks for 12 hours of work. That means I get 1,103,449 GTA bucks per hour, which is *drum roll* a whopping 200% increase over your RR method. That means my time is worth TWICE yours!

So please, call me an idiot again for sole reason that I consider my time valuable while you work (on an activity you call fun mind you) for about the price of a large drink at Zaxby's.

I will never buy them. I would however purchase some good DLC. Like map packs. Would love if they released a map pack so you could fly to Vice city or Liberty city. I would deff pay for that.

Look at post #86 mate (two posts above you). *considers making a separate thread with a more detailed argument on the value of cash cards*
