I think IV was perfect the way it was. The 1990's are more Los Santos times.

I think it would be better for 70's than 90's.

Yeah the ultimate setting for a Liberty City GTA would be late 60s-early 80s. Back when NY had a ton of crime and was very dirty and gritty. Just look at the Warriors for reference of what I am talking about.

If GTA 4 were in the 1990s?

Electro-Choc would play Happy Hardcore. It would be my favorite station.

GTA IV in 1774, right before the Revolutionary War. Think about it... Wait, no.

Why not IV in 1473? You're a Native American. Your car is a horse and your gun is a now & arrow.

As someone who lived through the 90's, I don't get the obsession with that decade... Just coming off the drugs and sh*tty clothes of the 80's and meeting the socially depraved technological era...

I'm guessing you're one of those Grove Street fanboys who can't get enough of that 90's "gangsta" vibe.

On a serious note, I'd imagine it'd be like LCS. Nothing too noticeable that says, "Wow! It's the 90's!!" would be included. But there would have to the whole Y2K thing going around like a virus.

I agree with gtamann. I would love to see a rendition of Liberty City in the 1980s, with focus on Bohan, Algonquin, and a rendition of Harlem. It would work so well.

That was the best feeling. The time period itself was so subtle and everything. If you didn't listen to the radio or peds, you wouldn't even know it was 1998.

Word on the street is GTA 6 is going back to Liberty City, interesting to see what time period they'll go with.

I don't think Liberty City would suit the 1990s. I think Liberty City would have preferred the 1970s or 1980s.

If it was set in the 70s,80s or 90s Niko's story would be very different, and in my opinion Niko is what makes the game.

The 90s would be perfect an older LC in a different period imagine the R* version of the Twin Towers.... I dont really see NJL's stories fitting in with the time though maybe Niko's or Johnny but IDK. Maybe if it were about Dwayne and his crew running North Holland and his empire (apartments full of money) owning the Triangle club and dealing with Cherise, Jayvon, and a young Playboy X. Or maybe about Ray and Phil both trying to rise in the Pegorino family or Manny Escuela's life in Bohan the possiblities are endless.

There was internet in the 90s. If anything the in game internet would be better as it would be the old sh*tty 1990s internet.
