Hi, I would just like to make a suggestion regarding the mechanics of GTAF user's profiles.

In all of our profiles, we have a respect list where we can put down who we respect, and I absolutely love this feature for profiles.

My suggestion is that when you add a user's screen name to your respect list, that there be some kind of mechanic where it will provide a link to their profile by clicking their name, if you choose to enable the feature. I'm not a very electronically savvy person, so I wouldn't know how this could be implemented, but maybe the site could just auto-detect if the text is someone's screen name, or when you go to edit it, you could use the full editor like in your "about me" section.

I've just noticed that some users have put their respect list in their "about me" section to circumvent this, but I think it would be nice if the respect list had the same functionality.

Thanks for reading my suggestion. I appreciate all the work that has went into this site and it is by far my favorite Grand Theft Auto community on the interwebs.

(Also, if there is already a way to do this and I'm just blind, please let me know)

It could very well work. It'd save me the trouble of having to type in their name in the members bar and sift through the results so I can stalk their posts.

The Respect List is a text only profile field and allows Plain text input. The users who have put respect list in "about me" have used BBCode to link profile, whereas BBCode input is disabled in respect list.

Yeah, it would be nice to have BBCodes work in Respect list (more specifically; [ member=*name*]).

Pretty good idea, NOS.

I removed mine simply because there's too many people who deserve a spot on it, lol.

On a proboards forum I'm admin on, you can just type @username and it will automatically change the text to a link to their profile.

Not sure if there's an available plugin for this type of forum?

Edit: This would also be immensely useful for the gang/crew sections when crew leaders are writing up their crew roster.

Would be so much easier to just type @senormidget rather than manually format every member by finding their profile and copy/pasting the URLs.

You can just use [ member=*name*] (without the space).

For example:
senormidget
Biohazard Abyss
ArchKnight

[member=senormidget]
[member=Biohazard Abyss]
[member=ArchKnight]

Ah, that's basically the same thing then.

Thanks, didn't know about that feature. :)

IP.board has an out-of-the-box feature for "Friends". In essence it's basically the same thing as the respect list, and does what you are looking for here (they display in similar, clickable fashion, as Latest Visitors on your profile do), as well as being easier to add or remove people via simple button presses.

This particular site has that feature disabled though, so that would be my two cents to throw in with yours Mr Nos.

Try contacting illspirit about that or get a mod who can...
