Do you put butter on your sandwiches? I read that americans don't do this, is it true because that seems weird. Personally I hate butter, I only use it if it's in a recipe or if i'm having vegemite on toast, but most people I know put butter on their sandwiches and I thought that was the main reason butter existed. What do americans even do with butter if they don't put it on sandwiches?

I put butter on my toast. Sometimes I butter two pieces of toast and put them together. Does that count?

Typically, sandwiches are not buttered in the US. There are a few exceptions, such as the grilled cheese sandwich.

Why the f*ck would I want to put pure fat on my sandwich? I only eat butter if it is part of a recipe or incorporated in a food. Every other application I find absolutely disgusting.

I put butter/hot sauce/garlic/onions on everything and my breath could be used as tear gas.

I always put butter on them, beats hydrogenated fat like margarine. Animal fat is actually good for you in normal amounts.

Try eating frozen butter it's way better than mild butter.

Yeah if it's a grilled cheese, and no if it's anything else. I'll use mayo or mustard or something else instead.

Buttered toast and buttered rolls are good though.

Dutch hagelslag (chocolate sprinkles) was first invented in 1936 by Gerard de Vries for Venz,[4] a Dutch company made popular by said treat. Hagelslag is used on bread. Most of the time butter is spread out so the hagelslag does not fall off. Several letters to Venz from a five-year-old boy, H. Bakker, asking for a chocolate bread topping, inspired and prompted de Vries' development of sprinkles.[citation needed] After much research and venture, de Vries and Venz created the first machine to produce the tiny cylindrical treats. They were named "Hagelslag" after their resemblance to a weather phenomenon prominent in the Netherlands, hail. Only hagelslag with a cacao percentage of more than 35 can bear the name chocolat hagelslag. If the percentage is under the 35%, it has to be called cacao fantasy hagelslag.

Butter belongs on rolls, corn cob, baked potatoes, and thick slabs of Italian bread.
For sandwich bread you should only use "Miracle Whip".

I don't even know what to say..

speaking of butter, my mum can't butter a sandwich for sh*t. like, you're supposed to have a nice thin spread, but nah she slaps a couple of clumps on and calls it a day.

i also hate people who mix butter with nutella. like what the f*ck man.

Adding butter to a PBandJ is pretty good.... I can't think of anything else tbh.
I don't exactly buy high class butter but you know some just ain't good for eating...maybe just melting or baking but you don't wanna taste it greatly.

I'm American and I put butter on toast either by itself or along with some jelly (jam for you brits). Sometimes I put it on hotdogs with a bit of ketchup, too. Good sh*t.

What else do Americans do with butter?

We butter popcorn, grilled cheese, popcorn, biscuits, popcorn, bread rolls, also popcorn, and corn on the cob. I also like to use butter when I cook, especially with fish, and I like butter on popcorn, as well.

It's true, Americans love the slimy mouth feel that comes with butter. Why do you think corn syrup is in all U.S. food?
