I know I know Rockstar doesn't read these pages, it'll never happen but I'd like to know what others think about our buddy Lester's abilities being implemented as perks combined with level. Even Lamar's mugger could be a perk. Instead of having to pull out the phone, scroll to creepy uncle L, wait for him to pick up and scroll to desired usage why not just have one preset perk attached to a button we press when our hypothetical ability meter fills up? Unlock the better abilities with level, cool off time is part of the meter refill, one ability available that is set by the player at their home computer. Im aware the phone is part of the "realism" of being a criminal in LS but I really think this would make things a little interesting from a strategic standpoint not unlike my other disappointment of no loadouts but rather a weapon wheel with all the hardware of ammunation in our magic pockets...that's realism!

Yes, in a way but I'd rather just be able to use stealth whenever I want to in this supposed "free" World.

Whats with the hostility towards him calling it perks, just because COD uses the word? The word perks came waaaaaay before any COD game anyway.

On topic, sounds pretty good, just like the special abilities in SP except you can choose what to have, but I can see this ending up with everyone using a Trevor like ability or a off radar one (Michael and Franklin's abilities wouldn't work since they slow down time) Could activate it the same way, double stick press.

The abilities are already level locked and have cool down timers. Plus there aren't any unused buttons on the controllers to even map the perks to.

Wow, even if y'all don't like the idea, it's just an excessive amount of hostility. In my opinion if they were going to make a special ability they would be better off doing something else and beefing up the calling of muggers and such.

Yeah, it'd be cool if you could hotkey the different abilities instead of having to dig through menus. Just have to make sure you can't abuse it too much.

I actually like the idea. :)
Screw the COD comments, these guys don't see the bigger picture of having a strategy using different perks in different game modes.

I'm thinking pressing both thumbsticks like in Single Player. You go to your phone (or computer) and a small tab named Perks would appear. The website would show all abilities and would look like the "thingstheydonotwantyoutoknow.com" website from GTA IV where it was black background with like green text, something like that. It would describe each ability, cooldown time and how to charge it. Like, Off The Radar would be fueled by sneaking while Remove Wanted would be charged by having cops on you. Mugger could be filled by picking up cash, etc. A single perk can be chosen and needs to be changed via the website or they could just add it so you can buy/unlock a perk and it would show in the menu when you press Select or in the Online Options menu when pressing Start.

Another thing that could be done instead is keep it the way it is but just add the thumbstick idea and having one perk charge. So if you sneak a lot, you pick the Off The Radar perk. You can still phone it in and all other perks but it costs money. Having it charge, it comes free. Something like that would be sweet!

Because higher level players don't have a big enough advantage over the lower ones already, right? It's fine as it is. There's no point in making a perk system if there's only going to be a few of them, and adding more to make any kind of skill-tree in GTA:O would be a huge mistake.
