I thought 8-Ball was cool with Claude.

Money and/or threats can probably make anyone change their mind.

The reason for Salvatore's paranoia is actually shown first hand in GTA San Andreas. When Carl begins working for Salvatore at Caligula's Casino but later robs the place in Breaking the Bank at Caligula's, Salvatore will ring up Carl and mention how he stabbed him in the back. This is, in my opinion, a clear reference to the events of GTA 3 which take place about 8 years later.

That's a good point, I almost forget that one. It might be one the reasons why Sal became paranoid.

But where is it metionned that Claude dates Maria ?

They never dated exactly, but when she tells Salvatore that she and Claude have entered into a relationship and "they were an item", it might be the reason leading to Salvatore trying to kill Claude.

That relationship always struck me as a bit odd.

It goes from "come on Fido"

Straight away she tells Sal they're an item

Then she vanishes for ages and when we next see her it's "Hey baby"

Hang on... all he's done for you is drive you round for an evening then run away from the Mafia 'coz you tried to have him killed... why would you want to date someone like that? Not even my ex-wife was that psycho

I think that pistol shot meant ''end of the story!'', I dunno how to explain that.

I think Rockstar told something about that final shot. And I guess that it was that Maria didn't die.

And if you think about it. Would it worth to do everything Clauded did on the last mission to save Maria and just a few moments later he kills her?

Think about it, I wouldn't put my life on risk to save somebody just to kill him the moments later.

About the shooting Maria thing, I personally think it was a way to end the dialog and just get on with the end credits music. That's just my opinion. Perhaps we should send a letter to R* asking them what the shot meant once and for all.

In the GXT files, there are some extra dialogue lines, that show what maria had to say.

But R* found it boring so they cut off the dialogue with a shot.

It's not clear if he came there to save her. I think it's more likely that he came to see Catalina. Remember that time Claude had the chance to kill her when Catalina jumped off that building? He hesitated and that's how she got away. Perhaps he hesitated because he still loved her. We'll never know for sure.
