The topic of GTA games set outside the US keeps coming up amongst fans (London more so than anything). The only real issue is that Rockstar (and some fans including myself) see GTA as an American thing.

So my suggestion is to have another R* studio make a spinoff GTA series, with similar gameplay mechanics, set outside the US. It would exist in the same universe as GTA, with maybe some characters and brand reappearing (not an over abundance however, we do want to keep it somewhat seperate from the current series), but set in other countries with possibly different themes.

A good example I can think of is a game set in modern Dubia. It would contain pretty similar mechanics to GTA (e.g. Car stealing, random police chases, etc), but about corporate corruption and terrorism in the area. And to link it to the main series we could have, say, Yusuf Amir play a minor role in the game.

I would say the perfect candidates for an international spinoff series would be Sydney, London and Dubia for starters.

I know it's more than likely that a lot of you might shoot down this idea. But I thought I might throw it out there as a suggestion so we can keep organised crime related, American stories for GTA, but venture into different locations and themes. All the while still, somewhat, remaining as a part of the GTA franchise.

I think i made a thread for a similar thread, but anyways i agree like i said before it should be a sub-series under GTA i.e."Grand Theft Auto Presents:Gang of Europe I,Gang of Europe
II:London etc" i am sure GTA will get to a stage were it going to spawn another spin-off franchise, and Rockstar said they have 45 years of ideas for GTA so i am sure this is also part of the plan and in just 3 years (1997-2017) GTA will be a 20 years old IP so that maybe take longer maybe when it almost 30 (2027) lol but Mario,Tom Clancy,Need For Speed did it so i am sure GTA can.Btw Great thread OP :)

I wouldn't think Dubai would be a good place. I heard they put you in jail for life if you litter there. Or is that in Singapore? I don't know. Dubai's pretty clean. But yeah, Dubai wouldn't be a good place seeing as the crime in the UAE is pretty damn low outside of terrorism or cybercrimes.

I'd rather see a GTA game set in the Netherlands, though. The main guy can have a mullet, a mustache, and some tracksuits. I think you all know what I'm trying to get at.

Canada or Mexico we share the same Continent Canada could work we have a lot of similarities with them except they get free healthcare over there and look like us just better. If set in Mexico the game would have a lot of spanish in it.

Dubai would be cool. You've got to understand that while crime is statistically low, most serious crimes are committed by people high in society, Dubai has huge problems with money laundering, human trafficking and the smuggling of things like diamonds. While Dubai is a conservative city and the average guy will lose his hands for drug offences, you can rest assured that the princes ad sheiks are in their mansions snorting coke off hookers tits

The thing is, if you read the OP I'm also suggesting different themes, not just stating "Oh, have your typical gangs and drug dealing GTA, just overseas". Thus the reason why I used the word Spin-off

What I'm suggesting is using countries, other than America, to explore themes that don't work overly well in the US or simply the main GTA series itself (like the government theme in V). Like brownbear said above, you have people smuggling, diamond dealing, terrorism all by high society individuals. All this could work in a GTA themed game, but not GTA itself.

But Dubai is just one of the very many locations I've suggested. Hell if I wanted to I could have suggested something more along the lines of your typical, bogan Australian living in Sydney trying to make a go at the drug industry there.

You can seriously bribe Mexican police for under $8?

Kut.

@nikovercetti - tue way you described it though, it sounded like you wanted a GTA in Dubai, what with the car stealing and crime and all. But yeah, either Sydney or Maaskantje would be a good place for a GTA spinoff.

Yeah, sometimes they ask for more, but if they see you look poor they may let you leave without asking too much.
