What happened to Mattatatta? After Codename Zulu he did another storyline, and a lot of Brony mods, what the hell happened?

He's retired from DYOM.

- Mattatatta                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         Things have come a long way since my days playing around in DYOM (and fighting the bugs it had when making my missions). I've started writing fanfics and learning to draw now. It's been going quite well so far, and I've picked up a fair amount in the time I've spent practicing.

One of my favorite designers. When it comes to writing and designing, he excelled, which made him one of the best to ever create a mission series using DYOM. You could try sending him a pm, and see if he responds lol.

He made another storyline, Infection: The Tale of Mark White. Unfortunately only Chapter 1 has been finished.

This is a very interesting subject but i think you should have asked this in the Designer's Lounge.

Anywhoo, I Asked the same question & googled Mattatatta.
As you may know, he loves "My Little Pony". After quiting DYOM, he started drawing MLP artwork for his fanfictions.

And i gotta admit, he is a great writer. :D

This is his DeviantArt page.

And this is what Zizo sent to him when i found him.

Guys!
I finally got in contact with Mattatatta through his deviantART account. Despite what happend earlier, i must thank Target13 for finding him. :)

Hello, Mat. It's been a long time...
You propably don't know me, i'm a GTAForums member and an active DYOM designer for over a year now, when i stumbled upon your blog and works of art i was astonished when i finally discovered that the legendary Mattatatta is still there.
Well, a lot has happend throughout the years, lots of new comers, DYOM V7 release (which includes moving cutscenes, ability to add sounds, custom ammo count, and a lot more), GTAF V2 upgrade, and many senior members retiring...
I was kinda sad when i discovered that you left with no goodbyes, and when i found this.. i was happy that we could contact you, we really like to hear from you again, maybe check back into GTAF and give us the news, or maybe even.. comeback.. it's ok if you don't want to but at least we'd like a satisfying response to this message, you wouldn't realize how much the community has deteriorated, a word from you would really brighten up the place.
Thanks for reading, i'd be glad if you actually respond soon. I'm Zizo by the way, i'll try to keep an eye on deviantART in case you do reply.
Thanks again. smile.gif

Hello, sorry for taking a long time to respond, I'm pretty busy nowadays.
I'm quite excited to hear that DYOM has received such crucial updates to mission design. If I had even half of those tools when I produced my first few missions, then things would certainly have been much, much different.
However, that was years ago now, and I've been gone for a very long time. My interests simply changed and took me off to the next hobby and passion I wanted to chase. It would have been nice to have finished another mission series, but it is simply too far gone to go back and just finish off old ideas - and that is assuming I even have the time to pick up San Andreas and DYOM again.
As you can see, I'm really settled and pretty much occupied by my current projects - fanart and fanfics of course, but still things that I find important to me and ultimately great fun to do. I like to think that DYOM got me to this stage, because if it weren't for that, I doubt I would've took a real interest in writing, or even had any confidence in my ability to learn how to create stories and art. So while I look back and miss the days of creating missions and frantically fixing the bugs that came up, I'm quite content in the knowledge that it all meant something much more than just entertaining gamers like I, but also meant me finding another medium to share my imagination a few years later.
No doubt there are other designers out there, both old and new, who want to create the next greatest set of missions under DYOM, and I have no doubts those people will succeed. Back when I created Codename: Zulu, I ran on nothing but motivation and encouragement - no refined skills, no previous experience, just an idea and the will to see it through to the end. Along the way, I learnt how to get better, I challenged myself to be creative with what I had so that I could learn something new and do something exciting.
Making an action-packed 'game' through DYOM - and pushing the limits of the program in order to make my ideas work - was a huge challenge to me, and to this day I cannot believe it became so popular. After such a massive success, I knew I had set a high bar for myself, and I did have every intention to meet and exceed it.
Life called right about then; I had serious matters to deal with, and before long, working on a new series just started to feel like a drag. New things took my interest, and so I went with them. It wasn't until a year after being into FiM that I decided to try another big project - but this time through drawing and writing a fan fiction - both of which I had never done before. It was like DYOM all over again, so I met it with full steam, and I'm glad I did. While I know the day will come when my current project shall be finished, and I'll certainly drift off to the next challenge I set myself, I'll take with me the same skills I started to hone when I first started designing missions.
I feel like I'm repeating myself, so I'll just leave it at this: it's unlikely I'll come back, but don't think I resent or regret creating Codename: Zulu. DYOM paved the way to my future creative outlets, so while I may never come back, the mod and the community gave me something that has undoubtedly made my life much better.

His posts can be seen in Gen Chat and other sections. Apparently he did the same as Matt. I've asked him a year or so ago if he'll finish his current (at that time) mission pack. He told me that he probably won't.
