This is the beta topic for Vice City Stories, as the name implies. There is some very interesting beta elements in VCS, so enjoy what you see!

Alpha Victor, as found in the game's files. He has more hair than the final Victor and his skin is noticeably lighter.

Beta Victor, with a darker facial complexion and his Army Fatigues read, "USMC". This means that Victor was meant to join the Marines.

Tear Gas was scrapped again. It has a texture, model, and HUD icon in the game's files. It has all the data to be used as a weapon and can be if hacked into the game.

A landmine was supposed to be a weapon, but was cut, although the model, texture, and HUD icon are still in the game's files. It works perfectly if it is hacked into the game. (Contributed by WildBrick142)

Tear Gas and Landmine are in game and work perfectly. Land Mine's HUD Icon is slightly offset (see icon below, it's not centered) and Tear Gas' HUD Icon is in a dull orange color. Like in LCS, the Tear Gas can lag the game. Landmines explode whenever anything gets near it.

Not sure if this was meant to appear or was a leftover but there is a map icon for Tooled Up. The icon is blank white square but in Map menu, it says Tooled Up.
 
Cubans could also own properties.

 

"Ambassador" boat was cut but it was accidentally replaced with image of Speeder in the official guide.

 

In game, there is also an unused, faster Speeder (The Fastest Boat/Cuban Jetmax in Vice City). There is no difference than normal Speeder other than performance. Maybe it was the Ambassador.

 

There is a VCN Maverick (unused) and a green slide door VCPD Maverick (also unused and when I tried it wouldn't fly)

FBI Rancher is unused. It can be spawned and is fully functional.

 

Top Fun was meant to appear but was cut.

These two icons also exist in VCS. There is no "radar_propertyR" though so it might be an LCS leftover.

There is an odd-job as Mall Security. Since this was found in PS2 version, and PS2 version is known to have more things than PSP, I am unsure if that mission is in final game.

Ambassador in-game name exists - this destroys my theory of fast Speeder being it.

A mission from Bryan Forbes was cut.

I can help out here with what we've found (mainly Silent) in the games code:

- In the first mission, there was supposed to be a Mini Game where Vic had to Destroy the attacking boats (there's a picture of this in the Brady Guide to) before the boat you're in catches fire. In the final game this part is skipped to a short cutscene of Vic firing the M4 at the boats and it catching fire right away.

- There are co-ords leftover for Leo Teal's mission start marker, and it leads to this place, meaning this (oddly one of the few) detailed area on the East Island would have been where Leo Teal was working in 1984...

- Out of all the closed down "Tooled Ups" only this one maybe had plans to be an Ammu-Nation as there are leftover co-ords in the game marking this shop as an Ammu-Nation...

edit: OH YEAH, there's MANY, MANY, MANY unused audio from characters during specific missions, especially from Phil who has a whole unheard rambling part which was supposed to play during "Boomshine Blowout".

Actually this place has an unique Tooled Up script, which is unused. They deffo planned them at some point.

Nothing left behind on those sadly, trust us, we've looked all over for those. :( Just a few alts for current missions and unfinished stuff that just breaks the game.

Any explanation as to why the planes in the PSP version are enterable (but uncontrollable)?

He doesn't just fall in, he'll enter just from pressing triangle like any other vehicle, the camera will stay with the plane as if you had control of it, and you can even listen to radio stations. This was also patched on the PS2 version. Could it be leftover code from when they may have intended these planes to be flyable at one point?

 

a little off topic but this game is still the GOAT of the series.  IMO.   so damned good.

I think Rockstar is fond of VCS, too, there's quite a few references to it in GTA V (Gordon Moorehead and Jock Cranley are two I can think of off the top of my head).

and there is a helicopter armadillo...i know one of them is in a mission..but there is another cut model of armadillo..from what i think. :)

Nope, both are spawning. The Air Ambulance spawns in the hospital from Downtown and in the hospital from Ocean Beach, both after From Zero To Hero :)

Man have I got a good scoop for you guys, so I was using the Brady Guide to take a picture of that mission part as requested (Silent couldn't get it to activate properly in the game :() and I decided to look through some other things...

OK, so first up, the extended part of "Soldier";

I think the Cellphone icon is a leftover from LCS, as in game the cellphone is similar to VC.

Oh yeah the Green, sliding doors Police Maverick is actually flyable if you can push one to a garage, close it and open it again.

Thanks for the information guys! I would've never gotten some of it without your help. Say, I read that the Bradygames guide said that the Biplane was called "Pitts". Any chance of getting a scan of that? Thanks in advance! I wonder when Bradygames played the game. With that information, we can know a range of when certain elements were cut.

 

I heard someone say about Bryan and Vic being chased by the Mendez Cartel. Would this be the image by any chance?

Vic is driving the car and I think that's Bryan behind him. It's the second car by the way, not the one in front.

Yuck that beta Vic image is old. Back in 2012 I fixed it up thanks to some texture tools that were released since I did that "hack". Use images from here instead.

Yuck that beta Vic image is old. Back in 2012 I fixed it up thanks to some texture tools that were released since I did that "hack". Use images from here instead.

I know you are trying to help, but please do not advertise your own sites on this forum.

 

Instead, you should have posted the images and not the link to the site containing them.

 

Do not do this again in future.

April fools? Advertising? Seriously? I posted a link to a modification I made that strongly related to the topic at hand that happened to be posted on my own website as I was the one who created the modification. It's not like I posted "HEY EVERYONE CHECK OUT MY SITE". Hell, look at my post history if you seriously think I was trying to advertise my website. If you really believe what I did was "advertising", you might want to remove Nick's TXDf*cker in the mobile modding topics as all of his download links go to his own website or many other modders that also link to their own websites when posting mods.
