I would love more interiors.  It really adds to immersion and encourages players to explore.  GTA: San Andreas had lots of bar interiors, and it really made the city feel real, even if you only saw a glimpse of the interior for just a second(like when going on dates).

Although, I think Rockstar kind of wanted to put more interiors, but that might mean having a small loading screen when going through doors(like previous games) or having to delay the game's release again.

EDIT: Also, the post above me. ^^^^  Rockstar made the classic shops like Cluckin' Bell and Burger Shot look so sleek and really captured the modern fast food feel, but didn't add interiors?  Makes no sense.

And the list goes on...

They scrapped all those eating places most likely due to regenerating health.  Even though it regenerates to 50%, it still regenerates and there is health packs all around the map and at any hospital to get the other 50% health back...

Oh well, I am not really into Interiors anyways.  Especially GTA V as there is loads to explore outside...And in the Ocean.  Since seeing the Underwater Mod you can easily notice all the detail and things in the ocean.  It's insane how detailed it is compared to the Grand Senora Desert.

Each game is different.  This one doesn't have interiors...No big deal to me.  Same thing with the vehicle variety debate.  It's nothing that hurts the game in any way in my eyes.

Granted, I don't play GTA V always.  I am playing IV as we speak and have been the last week.  I need to take breaks with V, but when I come back to it, it's refreshing once more and the charm comes back.

After tomorrow with IV, I am putting in SA and Vice City.  I'll be back to V once Patch 1.12 comes and I finally get yet another Sports Car (Massacro) and Super Car (Zentorno) to get rid of my useless Sultan and Schwartzer.

You see this is what annoys me. Rockstar pours so much detail into these fake brands and most of them were even enterable in IV. But they decided to that they weren't needed/wanted anymore. Sucks. :(

Its sad because I remember a lot of "IV had too little interiors" complaints pre-release and Rockstar decided to take the piss and remove more interiors rather than add more.

So right now, my perception of Los Santos is that its the equivalent to an attractive car that does not drive. Its intriguing to gawk at but when it comes to getting immersed- well- I can't. The lack of restaurants, clubs, hell even house interiors to explore, it feels slightly dull.

Hit nail on the head here. Los Santos really reminds of LA Noire for its dullness - only a lot more compressed which actually compensates for it. The exterior detailing is unbelievable, seems like too much effort just for it to be a shallow canvas. Add to that, the inumerable houses, hotels, commercial buildings and the airport are all full sized complexes fitted with expansive gardens, pool areas, parking lots and so on. In past GTA's, similar areas were usually shrunken down and were much more simplified to their real life counterpart.

It may be baseless speculation at this point, but I wouldn't be surprised if these areas are future proofed for interiors to be added later on.

The exterior detail makes up for much of the lack of interior but it'd be awesome if they opened some things up. It seems unlikely at this point, but it would be cool to open up some of the places that TheGTAOne posted pictures of. At least start with that. I suspect that they've moved on to working on gameplay DLC rather than map DLC/updates. I just really hope that for the next GTA, whenever it is, they actually listen to the suggestions and build on this awesome game they've built.

Add more interior, add more 'Sims' like features with houses/apartments, add more social features (clubs, bars, casino, etc.) and you probably have the best game of all time, uncontested.

The exterior detail did leave me extremely impressed when I explored the wealthy neighborhoods and parks around Los Santos. But it still just leaves me wanting to go into a building to see more.

Great thread, completely opened my eyes to what I was missing. Maybe next-gen we'll get interiors that'll blow V out of the water, here's hoping but less interiors than IV (not including apartments, houses etc..) is unacceptable.

sh*t I even like to think Vice City has it beat with the fact you can run off the street straight into a pre loaded interior - Convienience store in Vice Point, just south of the NP Mall.

I really miss fast food places, helped with immersion a lot, walking in and getting a burger. Why couldn't they replace the Binco's with a burger shot? Considering Binco and the discount stores are the same!

Well, some interiors (if not all) except safehouses and shops are not marked on the map, such as Fleeca banks, 24/7, the bank at Vinewood Boulevard, Airport corridors, MIssion Row Police Station...

I think the big problem is that they closed all the mission interiors wich were very interesting such as the Lifeinvader building, Lester's house, Tequi-La-La (that could have been a perfect TBoGT nightclub style), IAA, FIB and so on. The last two are only accesible due to a wall glitch off-mission, so thank heavens.

In IV there were a lot of mission interiors that were open and random apartments, even hospitals, wich are pretty epic for rampages.

and food shops ! i want go to burger shot or cluckin bell and buy food !

and the cool thing was that if you ate too much you would actually vomit and yu wouldn't be able to buy any food for one hour in game !

An interesting example is the Pacific Depository building, in single player its a heist location (or so im told) and as of now you can enter, go upstairs, across the upper level and down the stairs behind the teller glass. There are no bank employees in there. There is also a set of stairs behind a barred door, which will not open with the normal RPG style key. However i have found out how 2 get downstairs, during the making and/or testing of a deathmatch in the "creator" u can get to and in the vault and safety deposit room. U can also access the East Los Santos police station the same way. But in all more interiors would be nice, i got a nice veiw from Eclipse Tower, and 8mil waiting for Lenny Avery to go active so he can make 8% of the selling price 4 a mansion.

We need more interiors. I don't care if you have to load the interior for the same time it takes to load the game I just really want them.

At the very least, GTA V could have had fast restaurants (Burger Shot, Cluckin' Bell etc), a few bars and nightclubs, and one or two hospitals with interiors. Those few things alone would have made a great difference to the immersion of the city of Los Santos. I will never understand why Rockstar could not manage something as straightforward and simple as that.

The sad thing is, I was so happy to see convenience store interiors back in V, when they were badly missed in GTA IV.Only for Rockstar to take away fast food interiors in V and now I miss them. Makes no damn sense.

Vice City still remains the GTA with the best interiors. That airport... that mall...

As old as that game is, it's true. On top of that the mall had several store interiors. Outside of the mall,  there were various store interiors like tool shop, jewelry store, convenience store, pharmacy, cafe, donut bar, Well-Stacked Pizza, etc. Then there was the Scaface-style mansion, the police station, the Malibu nightclub, strip club, hotel, for it's time it was incredible.

For the life of me, I have little to no idea as to why they didn't bother to add burger joints on the map... Nevermind the immersion, I mean, how are we supposed to regain full health without hotdog stands and fast food, check the goddamn map for the hospitals? Come on.

Also, the Rockford Plaza mall would have been epic.

The lack of open interiors annoys me, especially in Online... It would be fun to have a deathmatch within a hospital or a police station, or maybe inside the Humane Lab. Or a survival against the FIB or IAA inside their respective buildings. Also, I like to explore... A lot... I find Los Santos too small, compared to Just Cause 2 for example (I know this is a whole different franchise, but it's worth mentioning anyway). I think that a map should either be huge with little to none interiors or small and packed, because, as I mentioned not too long ago, I like, no, I love to explore! It's fun and entertaining! Well, that's my opinion about that topic. Love it, hate it or just leave it alone

What I was really wanting for was a decent, two or three story beach house to buy in SP settled in Chumash. With the views that place offers, the secluded feel, and the beautiful roads and hills surrounding you, I thought it was inevitable that we'd have a property there. But instead that didn't happen. I mean even San Andreas had a beach house, remember that one you could buy in Santa Maria? A beach house in V with the interior detail that Rockstar normal does would have been bonkers. It would've been like this:

*image*

I too don't spend a lot of time in interiors, but something about them does intrigue me. Having a beach house would have been awesome save point. It would just feel cool to feel like you actually bought something worth it's price in this game. I could picture myself owning this beach house with a Zion Cabrio and Felon parked out front. It just would have made grinding for money via stocks and heists worth it.

That was just a missed opportunity to me, especially considering V is supposedly in pursuit of the almighty dollar. Vespucci Canals would have been a good place to have an enterable house too, or the hills. Yes we have Franklin's house but to be honest, it bores me. There is this big, tan, Mediterranean house to the west of Richman that has some of the best views of the city and yet it is just sitting there like a prop. The lot is beautiful, but it feels dull that you can't venture inside. Something about interior detail just interests me a little bit. I went to Asheville, North Carolina in real life just to see that Biltmore Estate and it's lovely interior.

It just, sucks to me that all of these places are empty. They're beautiful to look at on the exterior but interiors would have been lovely. It would've been fun to hide in one of these places during a police chase too, and then have a massive shootout within the buildings.

Jesus man you got it.

In San Andreas, whenever you bought a new safehouse, it was so awesome. That feeling that you finally got the money together to actually BUY a house that you could use was awesome. It really made you feel like an actual person and that you were rising up.

V doesn't have that feeling. Ugh....

I would actually. The draw distance makes the map feel small because you can see the city from mount chiliad I would rather have more interiors than being able to see forever

I think V has a great variety of interiors but the main problem is that they are not accessible.

I'm not the one who roleplays or just stares into interiors, but it would be good if they could be actually opened instead of making it accessible once in the entire story and leaving the detail to go to waste once the mission is done.

Indeed and that is what bothered me the most. Such great detail was poured into these interiors, especially Tequi-la-la and LifeInvader HQ., yet they were locked away. That Tequi-la-la club would've been as active as the Masionette 9 club from The Ballad of Gay Tony.
I do like to roleplay in games like V so interiors do improve such roleplaying.

Trevor already has two safehouses. I think that Mike and Franklin should have a second safehouse instead. Maybe a mansion or two in the countryside?

Agreed. I thought Michael would have had a beach house up in Chumash. It would make sense since he is the type of person I could see avoiding everybody and relaxing at a far away house.
Fun fact: during the mission where you get the kids back Michael and Amanda talk about getting a second house at a beach. I was really looking forward to getting it but sadly you never get it. Hope it will be added in the story dlc.

In-game you can see some interiors through windows, but you can't access them. But they are there, yet inaccessible. My safest bet is that R* will unlock a good portion of them with the first SP DLC. Indeed we need more interiors, i'd like to see the casino, the mall in North LS, the restaurants and some nightclubs.

Opening interiors will make a huge difference in the sense of immersion and realism in LS.

The lack of buildings made free roaming somewhat boring. Sure, there are still tons of things you can do, but one of the main reasons I play a game is for the immersion: To feel like I'm actually Michael/Trevor/Franklin living in Los Santos, and having interiors to enter would make the immersion more believable.

Aside mission-specific interiors that should obviously be open during free roam, they should have made the Maze Bank Tower fully enterable; just imagine having shootouts inside that skyscraper, as well as GTA V's version of Stairway to Hell.

What made Red Dead Redemption such an amazing and unforgettable experience from an immersion point of view was the fact that pretty much every building was enterable (Exaggerating a bit here). That, coupled with the freedom of the wilderness helped make RDR feel so alive; much more alive that GTA V for me.

Either way, I'm still loving this game, and I would happily rate it a 9-9.5/10.
