I thought it was based off the Lexus IS 300?

It was my first car and I like it, but it takes up valuable garage space!

Sultan is the IS300/Altezza.

Asterope is a Toyota Camry (TBPH, I thought it looks a little like a Subaru Legacy)

How is it a brick? Performance wise, it is one of the best sedans in the sedan class. It even handles about as good as you can for the sedans class

:)

He meant to post his post in the Super Diamond thread. You know, the car that looks like a brick, drives like a brick, but is a gold brick?

I mean, gold brick or not, it is a brick with 4 wheels.

On topic: I used to own one of those, because duh, it's a 4-door, why not. I had to get rid of it because the sun-roof is disadvantageous for me. I know I'm TOO paranoid about rooftop snipers, but honestly I'm not taking any chances.

Did you drive it, or are we baselessly hating a car just because?

I guess I could say I like the car but I don't drive it since it doesn't really perform like it's real life counterpart the Toyota Camry.

Asterope sucks and please don't even compare this piece of crap to the best game car: Kuruma (along with the other best cars which comee from GTA 3).

BTW It's the real Kuruma.

It looks nothing like Asterope - not as ugly by far.

It's nice.

Everyone hates the Asterope because it's just a bland econobox. It's pretty much the Camry of GTA.

I like it, but it's not really my kind of car. I like luxury sedans, but the front end just looks like the face of a cartoon female chipmunk.

So what was so special about the Kuruma that makes the Asterope sucks so much?

Read before you speak, bro. The Kuruma is a Japanese sedan because.of the name. It was a bland sedan in GTAIII. It was overshadowed, performance.wise, by the Sentinal. We shouldnt sit here and act like the Kuruma was actually the standout sedan of GTAIII. It wasnt. It was economicL, just like the Asterope.

And how many Japanese sedans are there in this game? There are 3. One if based off of a sports sedan (Sultan) and the other is based off of an Infiniti (Intruder). There are no other Japanese sedans in the game! So hence, the Kuruma and Asterope are alike!

Cheap and ugly looking too.

Actual the Camry IRL is far from cheap. Cheap compared to a Mercedes but it is not a cheap car at all.

A lot of young, and I bet a lot of people here, drive a Toyota Camry or Honda Accord. Its actually a reliable car in real life and lots of people buy one even though it is bland, so dont let any chest thumping keyboard warrior say that it sucks, when they probably drive one IRL. If they dont, then their mom, dad, brother, sister and friends and family drive one IRL. The Camry and Accord are like the top selling cars in America and sell like hotcakes in America.

If the lowering options weren't so damn garbage I'd have one in a heartbeat. I don't feel like shooting my rims every 5 minutes for it to look good. It's a damn shame too, it has so much VIP potential.

You make a good point. The Kuruma does look like a Dodge Intrupid.

However, Rockstar intended it to be a Japanese car due to the name. So it cant be a Dodge. Perhaps if they brought the Kuruma back and made it a Bravado Kuruma, then yes.

I like the Asterope and your right, it is competitive enough in its class. I ran it around a track a few laps as well as the other sedans and it came out 6th overall only 1 and 2hundreths of a second slower than the Fugitive which came out on top.

Before I get plenty of hate for this bombshell i will say that the track i made myself on the Sandy Shores Airfield is a generous mix of straights and varied corners designed to seperate the cars in terms of speed and handling so none of the usual childish retorts :)

says it's nice.  Posts a picture of a dodge intrepid.  lol!

I owned an 05 Camry for a few years.  Great car, totally reliable and safe and boring and all that.  I don't want to drive one in a video game...

Just got around to finding these!

I would like it if R* made cars with previous limited modding options come with more modding options for an upcoming DLC. There are many great cars like the Sadler, Bison and this car that have very limited modding options. You can't even put an exhaust on them! This is a modded one that was probably hex edited. Just by looking at it, they could have easily implemented this with the actual car instead of unconventional ways.

Bump. The Karin Asterope is a good sedan. Originally I shy'ed away from it because everyone hated it, but then I drove it for myself.

The Asterope is alright. It's reliable. It's not fast like a sports car, but it's fine the way it is. I'll post pics next time I get a chance.

Just a generic bland civilian car.  I don't like it, at all.  And OP, it's nice that you like the car, good for you.  but to most of us it its a generic POS

BUT, i think there should be all types of cars in GTA.  half the cars on the road IRL are cheap, budget, bland, generic cars driven by people who don't give a sh*t about cars.

Personally I think the Intruder makes a better Kuruma, and just because R* gave it a Jaapanese name (for car no less) does not mean they intended for it to be a Japanese car, this is further backed up by the Vapid logo in LCS.

In fact, by this logic, the Massacro (a clear Aston Martin knockoff) would be an Italian car.

Although the Asterope is a decent sedan.

I appreciate the fact this car spawns always next to me in the wilderness after a job as if it wants me to give it a chance.. Too bad for it I have a mechanic.

Although I currently don't have an Asterope, I can say that this thing is quite the sleeper. Looks like your average 'old-folk' sedan, but once you toss in a few upgrades, it becomes a beast. Handling only gets better when you install new suspension, and it's top speed is around the best in the sedan class, matching the Stratum and Super Diamond.

Me and 2 friends were driving around, robbing convenience stores earlier and by the end, it was a wreck. It was so fun! Nice car, would be nicer if it looked nicer/didn't spawn so often/had more mods.

I see your point but it makes sense logically.

GTAIII took place in the early 2000s, which was a shifting period in the car world. Japanese cars were gaining popularity throughout the 1990s in America. The best selling car in America had always been an American car until the Toyota Camry (ironically, the car that the Asterope and IMO, Kuruma, are based off of) overtook the Ford Taurus as the bread and butter car of America in the late 1990's. Since GTA is a spoof of American culture, I dont think it was coincidental that the Kuruma was given a Japanese name given the time period. Like many of Rockstar's parodies and spoofs, I think it was done to mimick current trends during that time.
