True, this thread is good for reference, and I commend the OP for such a well done thread.  However, the results are not gospel when it comes to 'actual' races in which you have corners, traffic, other people ramming you and such to contend with.  When it comes that, you want a balanced car that is fast, but also corners well, and has quick acceleration, that is the car that will win races with.

OT, it's still great to know what these cars are capable of when the hammer is down, great thread OP :^:

I want to see your results of each race please.

What makes a good experiment... are the results to confirm their validity =/

I tested the vehicles on a spreadsheet and i'm more confident in my times compared to yours.  They're all close within each other (Like a few tenths of a second).

I can't take your numbers seriously without knowing how many races you've for each class.

I like how you controlled the experiment though with full throttle instead of boost at the beginning.

But what you didn't mention was if you used the same lanes for each car.  We all know the shortest distance between two points, is a straight line.  For all we know, you could have gone all zig zaggy and sh*t with the adder but went in a straight line with the infernus making it seem like the infernus is faster? Unintentionally of course, you wouldn't lie ^^. Possibly some unintentional bias?

Also the last check point (And all checkpoints for that matter) are in a circular shape so... Did you make sure to finish the race going straight through the middle of the checkpoint?  If you go to the sides of the checkpoint, the times would be greater.

I had to redo my experiments because I didn't realize some factors I forgot to control.  I used the exact same location as you ^^. But soon realized it was too bumpy and not straight enough. I didn't realize this until the very end and had to redo the whole experiment.

Alright i'm done geeking it out for today lol.

All vehicles are full upgraded, full throttle start.

(Entity XF 22.649 22.461 22.289 22.447 22.522) damn, all times were with boost start.

I don't know why there are such big time differences between the races with the same car, f.e. Exemplar with nearly 0.7 seconds. Maybe it is caused by the wheelspin.

First post Updated with the Liberator times, and stock Sovereign.

For information :
Sovereign - 29.226

The Liberator - 31.884
I put the Liberator in the upgraded list as well, since we can't upgrade it anyway but we can race against others like that.

And damn I missed several posts, I didn't pay attention sorry guys.
I also updated with the new times, thanks Neuling2000 especially.

Hi, i did some more tests with recent acquired cars. Here they are:

Times are averages, i posted before and did it in the same way.

Banshee: 24.031

Regina: 35.391 (must be the slowest car???, could be a nice sleeper if 8-10sec faster :p)

Stratum: 28.434

Kalahari: 30.224

I'll let you know when i got more ;)

I have done the most of the cars you were still missing except suv's. I posted before so i know how to do the tests :). All the times are averages ;).

Here they are:

Sports:

Feltzer: 23.888

Alpha: 24.656

Penumbra: 28.607

Coupes:

F620: 26.071

Zion convertible: 26.417

Zion XS: 26.517

Sedans:

Fugitive: 28.100

Glendale: 28.165

Stanier: 28.582

Asterope: 28.750

Surge: 29.372

Ingot: 34.025

Emperor(clean version): 34.225

Compacts:

Dilettante: 30.941

Motorcycles:

Bati 801RR: 24.220

PCJ Vader: 26.496

PCJ 600: 27.695

All my times i have done were within .200sec except for 3 cars because of massive wheelspin, especially the electric cars. They were spinning their wheels already before the countdown began. A lot of them were even in the .100 - .050sec range.

List is almost finished for now :)

Amazing work dude ! :)
I just updated the lists.
Very useful to have a billionar interested in vehicle's performances lol

Big thanks to you, seriously, we've completed the Off Roads and Compacts lists,

and we're now only missing one vehicle in the Sports (Buffalo 1 -the old one-), the Muscles (Hotknife), the Coupés (Oracle 1 -the old one as well-), the Motorbikes (Daemon), and the Sedans (Emperor rusty -althought I don't know if there is a big difference with the clean version).

By the way we're still missing a bunch of SUVs, and evantually the Tornado soft top and rusty in the Classic Sports category, so guys feel free to participate and complete the list :)

Done with pleasure my friend ;). I'm part of an active car crew (STRR), we do lots of things and this comes in handy when organizing meets or doing other stuff. We like to use most of the cars in game. For example, i'm working on a meet and a couple of the activities involves sedan's, so it's nice to now which ones are competitive/comparable to eachother. That way we can have a selection of different cars that are allowed in the activity, and it still is fair and fun for everyone.

If you would be interested in joining our fun car crew(PS3), feel free to take a look on the STRR thread in lobby and meetups.

I'm far from a billionare :), but i can spend some money without hurting myself. It's more fun for me to do something constructive with it, in this case cooperate with others to make a useful list, than that the money is just sitting there. I like numbers, but i like people more ;).

Maybe i'll do some more tests today. I have the oracle and buffalo sitting in the garage, will take a daemon as well ;). Don't have the CE version so i can't do the hotknife.

More to come

I have a full upgraded soft tornado and full upgrade rusty tornado and full upgrade Mariachii can do if wanted. Imho they will all cut the same time in a straight line but the rusties are slightly faster on a track due to lower/stiffer suspension. I did test the oracle one on my own 1000m once but have since sold it so no luck there.

I have a hard-top manana, didn't see it was here, and was curious if it made a difference, so for what it's worth:

Hard-top Manana: 31.578

Daemon: 26.986

Hope I helped some. :)

None of the vans has been tested so yes the surfer isn't on the list. Feel free to test out the vans ;).

I will look into the spoiler thing all cars that i've done lately we're all fully tuned including spoilers except for the banshee, it's in my garage to stay and don't like spoilers on em but i forgot to put it on for the test, will do a rerun of the banshee.

It is also important to keep the steering input to a minimum most of the time i can keep it limited to 2-3 touches. Most of the cars that were tested have very close times within 0.050 sec. It is important that you have run it a couple of times to know the track and to get decent times.

Like with the feltzer i ran it 7 times because sometimes it did .5 sec more because the wheels slipped sometimes in the 2 potholes on the track, so everytime it did that the time wasn't representative. The average i got was from 5 good runs where it didn't do that, those times were all very close.

I start pressing R2 after i click ready to play with every vehicle. And i always go through the finish as close to the middle as i can, always on the left lane. It starts you there when you test alone.

Some people had complaints about the track that it wasn't flat or other things. Thing is, it is ment to compare the cars to eachother not to do datalogging on each individual car. And it is the same for all vehicles. When playing you will always have some anomalies slip, difference in surface, bumps, player itself. And for dragracing, it depends a lot on the launch.

@Waylon Jennings: did you lean forward or backwards when testing the daemon?

Going to run some more tests now.

Was just wondering, didn't thought it would be that fast.

just did 7 reruns with the banshee with the biggest spoiler, average time was 23.987. Doesn't look like there's much difference. It would be logic it they were slower with the spoiler, like in real life because of the drag. For now i think it only adds grip no speed or drag. Will do the zentorno as well a bit later.

Interesting, your findings with the Entity vs Zentorno show the Entity is faster. I tested the two and got the opposite result.

How could that be?

I expect the spoilers extra traction to only make a big difference on the very powerful cars. Also depending on how the traction stat works. Ie it might only change as far as the games calculations are concerned each half a bar for example so some cars might gain a huge amounts and other none.

I didn't test the supercars but if i watch your video i see some red flags

Yours is top speed, this one is 1000m/1km top speeds are not reached with most cars. Otherwise the adder would have a big chance of winning. Most of the time you won't go flat out for 1km or more when you play.

You seem to have a lot of steering input (variables) that is something that has some rather big influence on the result.

In the race used here most of the time you only need 2-3 touches on the joystick if you are a bit practised. If you race in freeroam (dragraces etc.) then a lot depends on reaction time and how good you are at launching your vehicle.

@Waylon: i ran the daemon as well (ocd :p) and my results were within .005 sec of yours. Good job!

I did realize mine is a top speed test but was unable to edit my post. Steering input is minimal though and I doubt that has a large effect on momentum.

I know from experience it does. I ran some late at night when my concentration wasn't a 100% all the time anymore and everytime when i did runs were i had more steering input, it consistently showed slower times of + .200 - .500 sec. It also depends on how much steering input you have. If you just touch the joystick (the car barely moves) then it won't make a big difference, but if it's more than that it will easily show in your results.

I think OP put a link to the track used on the 1st page, feel free to test it out.

If i find the time this week i wil rerun most of the supers(spoilers), could be next week to, we'll see.

I didn't see the minivan tested, so I'm doing it now, both stock and upgraded. That said, there doesn't seem to be a van category as of yet.

Edit: no vans allowed on the race?  I'll see if I can beat some times then!

No... I didn't know we could allow Vans in custom tracks until recently.

I'm still hesitant to add this category because it requires to change the grid, which would change the trajectory of your car on the road...
This race was made for 2 players, but eventually I can place the player 1 start at the same spot as it is now.
Or maybe I should wait until other categories are done before allowing Vans... I don't know.

I need you guys opinions about it.

[I'm checking the last comments and will update the first post in a bit]

This doesn't seem that accurate if you just check times by flooring it from the start. Cars like the Vacca will wheels spin for days if just floor it. I mean, nice attempt, but like most of the threads like this...it proves very little if anything at all.

I have an entity and a zentorno... time to sell the zentorno! I was never a big fan of it.
