George W. Bush

Why? Cause your opinion doesn't matter.

Lincoln for abolishing slavery.

This would be great if it were true, but it's not. The Emancipation Proclamation made slavery illegal in the South (which was a morale boost, more than anything). Slavery didn't end in the United States until December 6/18 of 1865, after Lincoln's assassination.

John Wilkes Booth, a true American hero!

John Wilkes Booth never has nor ever will be an American hero.

Are you going to follow me around the forum from now on? This isn't going to turn into a gunwrath thing is it? I'm not comfortable with this.

Lincoln because I live in Gettysburg and I'd probably be shot by Union re-enactors if I said otherwise.

...but also because he was truly the best President this country has ever had.

1) No, your Booth comment was unnecessary. 2) What did Gunwrath do to you?

My comment was a joke. I don't think it's too soon to start cracking out the John Wilkes Booth jokes.

It's what he did to theadmiral that's the problem. We had to hire private security for her and everything. Poor girl has never been the same. Even joined The Precinct in hysterics.

Making fun of the death of anyone by calling his/her murderer a hero will always be a joke said "too soon". That's just offensive.

On another note, I'm hoping these GWB responses are jokes...right, guys?

Well sh*t, I guess this cans my Epic novel satire based on the life and death of Caesar as seen through the eyes of Brutus. Thanks a lot Panz.

Glad I could help.

Clinton came to my high school back when Hillary was campaigning for prez. It was pretty disappointing, to say the least. Still, I'd probably rather have a good majority of these presidents back before I'd ever re-elect Obama, so...

Panz, as much as I love you. I'm gonna have to disagree here. But before I state my piece, what is your reasoning? Maybe I won't even have to.

Gee.  Brutus was merely a pawn in someone else's scheme against Caesar.  Oh and what a failure it was.

Ronald Reagan for finishing the Soviet Union.

In the same way that George Washington singlehandedly won American independence.  Or how Eisenhower defeated Hitler personally.

That's a little harsh. I agree with Panz, Obama... is not the best president the U.S. has ever had.

I don't think that's really being fair. The Presidents listed were mostly Clinton, Reagan, Bush (sarcastically) and FDR. To say she would need Downs to want one of them back is a bit stupid.

Now I am waiting for the follow up topic: Who is your favourite Canadian prime minister?

Afterwards, I am sure we can discuss our favourite French monarch or Roman emperor.

the sentiment she expressed was kind of retarded.

so I called her on it.

simple as that.

But who doesn't want to bring Jimmy Carter or George H. W. Bush back?  They both can serve a term more!

But who doesn't want to bring Jimmy Carter or George H. W. Bush back?  They both can serve a term more!

Bush Senior was a decent President. he just failed to finish the job in the Middle East.

his son was merely a puppet, but Daddy Bush wasn't so bad.

and Jimmy Carter was one of the most astute and intelligent Presidents we've ever had.

he told the American people the truth about themselves and they hated him for being correct so they kicked his ass to the curb.

in his post-Presidential career, Carter has done more to advance social justice, charity, and civil rights than the previous 10 Presidents combined.

he's always traveling on diplomatic missions or volunteering time with Habitat for Humanity or the Peace Corps, etc. when most Presidents settle into a comfortable University Speaking Tour retirement with fat paychecks for being a celebrity, Carter has maintained a singular, driven, hands-on focus with continually attempting to improve the world around him. he's terribly underrated as a President and as a man.

but what else is new.

What I meant by my post is that I'd rather pick from a pretty large range of past presidents than keep Obama in office. I don't see how that's so off to you. I'm sure plenty of people would agree with me, whether the statement seems exaggerated or not. You don't have to agree with me, but insulting me because of my opinion isn't going to get this thread anywhere.
