I'm a huge fan of the Louisiana stoner/sludge/doom scene in general. Crowbar are probably the best personification of that scene aside from the now-defunct Acid Bath, who in all fairness are better off with their members playing in Goatwhore and Soilent Green, or Eyehategod, who for some reason I never enjoyed quite as much.

But yeah, Odd Fellows Rest and Obedience Thru Suffering are two of the best sludge metal albums ever made.

The best is probably Electric Wizard's Dopethrone or Witchcult Today though I'm very partial to Kylesa, Black Cobra and more recently Counterblast, who are equal parts crust punk, stoner and sludge and are absolutely outstanding.

Oh, Goatsnake are awesome too but they're more stoner/doom.

"Oldies" 60's- mid 70's:

The Doors;

Peter Frampton;

Led Zeppelin;

Jimmy Hendrix;

Moody Waters (a legend);

Bob Marley and many others.

"Middle" mid 70's-mid 90's:

The Clash;

Dire Straits;

Love n' Rockets;

Bauhaus;

Nirvana;

Pearl Jam;

Whitesnake;

The Police and solo Sting ;

Alice in Chains and all those grunge movement's forgotten bands;

Iron Maiden;

Black Sabath;

Waterboys.

"Newbies" mid 90's - atm:

System of a Down;

Imagine Dragons;

My Chemical Romance;

Linkin Park;

Foo Fighters;

30'' to Mars;

A lot more good stuff, but mostly with just 1 good album, so they just don't qualify on my list.

"All rounders" 60's/70's - atm:

Rolling Stones (nevermind mind most of last 20y or so "new songs", but their live performances rock!);

Santana;

Metallica (though not on the oldies cat);

Bob Dylan;

Eric Clapton;

BB King;

U2. A case study, can't realy be placed at my oldies cat. As for newbies, I just don't like what they've been doing since Y2K approached, so I've also disregarded them, tough they are surely all rounders in my life's soundtrack (not that young you know ;)), weird or maybe not... They should be placed in a new cat like "Middle & All Rounders".

There're some more that I could add, some from my country, but you surely have no interest on them, so I'll just stick on this ones.
