What you think of Google Internet Service

It coming to 34 Cities this year in America Idk about worldwide yet :)

In Kansas City and Provo, the ultra-fast Internet service costs $70 a month. Add video and it bumps up the price to $120. Google is also offering slower, free Internet for at least seven years for a construction fee, which ranges between $30 and $300.

Google Fiber delivers Internet speeds of up to 1 gigabit per second. That's 100 times faster than most current high-speed Internet networks.

You could download an entire music album in under six seconds and a feature-length movie in 38 seconds with Google Fiber.

I would like to give it a try if they came to my town and offered the same deal. That much interwebs for only $70.00 bucks? Gimme Gimme.

Maybe I could finally play a lag free session of any game. Especially battlefield and such which often lags a lot.

So, My answer is yes. I would. Now If they could do something like so-net then I would be happy. 2 GBPS sounds heavenly.

If it was in my city and I could get 1-2 GBPS, f*ck yes I would order that sh*t in an instant. I'd love to have a crazy fast internet speed like that.

What exactly is the difference between the $70 package and the $120 package? Just a TV service? In that case I will probably get the $120 packahe

Nah, we just upgraded recently and get about 30 Mb/s now. Even with that I can download entire TV series in less than a day, and I hardly ever need to do that. Also our area's dominated by Turner Time Warner Bright House, and they aren't so bad.

It's great that they're offering free internet though. The u/d speed with it is kind of crappy ("Up to" 5 Mbps and 1Mbps respectively), but at least people will be able to get online. :)

I'd give it a try. Hopefully they'll keep expanding to more rural areas.

We already have gigabit internet connections where I live, but only one ISP was smart enough to offer speeds that high. It's dirt cheap too (under $20).

Edit: My current internet connection is from a different ISP, but I am planning on switching to a gigabit connection this year.

What's Google Fiber? I've searched it and it came up with a television guide.

f*ckers aren't interested in the Los Angeles area. I'd be getting it, if it were. Currently paying $80 for 30mbps.

All internet infrastructure to my knowledge in NY is still owned by AT&T or Verizon and has been for some time. Even if you have a problem with lines and your provider is Comcast, they can simply say "not our problem, blame AT&T." This has happened as recently as a couple years ago. Some other states in various areas in the country have similar issues, either with AT&T or Verizon. New York is owned by Verizon, for example. Notice where Google Fiber has sprung up already, these are all areas where neither oldschool phone company has any kind of foothold.

I have like a 3mb line or something lol, its okay for gaming and watching non-hd videos but when it comes to downloading, its terribly slow. I wish I could have internet connection as good as that. Maybe 50 years from now it'll come to south africa, hopefully...

After years of the US infrastructure lagging way behind most of the world and being dominated by cable and phone companies who went so far as to start putting hard caps on monthly usage instead of investing in expanding the infrastructure, it's nice to see Google stirring things up and pushing to bring the US literally up to speed.

But of course, the last thing we want is for Google to become another monopoly, so hopefully the competition is willing to get with the times so modern day speeds will become affordable for most.  I'm already paying $70 for 100mbps, which certainly seems reasonable, considering I was paying $40 for 6mbps only 5 years ago.  It's good to see this kind of progress being made in the last couple of years and hopefully Google helps it continue.

Thanks to the government that has taken office now, we won't be seeing internet faster than 20mbps for at least 15 years because they have some retarded national upgrade scheme that is just going to be double-handing the whole project. Rather than send fibre optics all the way to people's households, they are only doing them to the server exchanges in the street, and then gradually digging up the old, corroded copper wires as necessary rather than all at once. But whatever.

This. I would love to have something that doesn't require the lines that Rogers and Bell own. I am currently with Tech Savvy. The speed is 28mbps and a 300 gig cap for 47 bucks a month, but they still use Rogers' lines. So slow downs happen a lot.
