I haven't watched nascar much since daytona but isn't it kind of ironic (or maybe funny?) how good Jr is doing this season but with the new chase system, the "emphasis" is going to be more on winning than consistency. The 2nd place finishes don't mean anything like the wins will for the overall championship. It's great to see him running well, so hopefully he can get some more wins to position himself well towards the end.

Is that what happened? I was on the streams and all I could find were tennis and ice hockey where Nascar should be! I've yet to watch any of the highlights but i read it was a win for Carl Edwards and Tony Stewart is looking much better.

Yeah. For whatever reason, they had to move it to Fox Sports 1. Keeping it on the same channel has never been an issue in the entire 35 years of live broadcasting, but apparently local news was suddenly more important this one time around...

I was grinning ear to ear reading this article. Gordon has to win sometime!

For some reason K\Brads in first, I was thinking with Jr. having top 3 for almost every race so far he would be first

Well, Dale finished a lot worse than Brad at Bristol, that is what made the difference. Dale's first 3 finishes were 1, 2, 2. Brad's were 3, 3, 1. They both had top 3 the first 3 races, but Dale was 10 spots worse than Brad at Bristol, which set him back. Their finishes left Gordon as the only one with top 10's in all 4 races :D:D:D

Damn you caution flag. DAMN YOU TO HELL. Gordon had that one wrapped up!! That was handed to him, and Clint Bowyer took it away (once again :sly:)! Just one more lap! That was all he needed! I'm dying inside. I hate Kyle Busch. I hate Clint Bowyer. But on the bright side, Gordon finished ahead of Johnson, again! Gordon is only 2 points out of 1st! I'm still dying, but hell, Johnson dropped like a rock, so I'm fine.

EDIT: I blame NASCAR for that last caution more than Bowyer. He was literally 100 feet from pit road, and he slid out of the way! Why bother to throw a caution? Johnson and Keselowski shot pieces of rubber all over the backstretch, but no caution was thrown for that!

Yawn.....he's gonna make another left turn. Oh sh*t - another left turn! The only races that aren't boring is when when they are road races, e.g. Watkins Glen (2014: Cheez-It 355 At The Glen on August 10). At least that has a combo of right and left turns....

I think I dedicate most of my non-GTA Online playing time trying to make Jeff "The Queer" Gordon and Dale "The Crybaby" Earnhardt, Jr. crash and burn on the game.

Jeff Gordon is first in points! BAM! Best average finish of everyone, and leading the points! I also really like Chase Elliott. I hate the fact that we are both 18. Theoretically, I could be in the Nationwide series getting back to back wins in my rookie season right now...

Suddenly I'm depressed. :(

You don't need to be a NASCAR driver think only 43 lucky people get to be in it every year I would be satisfied dirt racing but being a NASCAR driver would be cool.

Now one of the most argued things about NASCAR,
Is NASCAR actually a sport.

It definitely takes a lot more concentration to drive 500 miles at 3-5 times you regular driving speed within inches of other cars, braking and gassing the entire time, than it takes to be a linebacker, who's main goal is to find the guy with the ball, and hit him. But people call the linebacker an athlete. Sure, you don't need to be the strongest guy to drive a stock car (at least not anymore), but there is definitely more strategy involved than most other sports. Then there are the pit crew members, the guys who actually are athletes. Their job is to either carry 10 gallon fuel cans, 50 lb tires, or a jack to a car, jack it up, change the tires, fill it will gas, and send the car out brand-spankin'-new in 12 seconds. That is the real athletic part of racing anymore. In addition to doing that, there are 42 other cars whizzing past on pit road, any one of which could crush you with one simple mistake. You don't run the risk of being crushed by a 2 ton car as a wide receiver or shortstop.

I know these aren't the best comparisons, but there are many aspects of stock car racing that involve physical strength, and the aspects that require less strength require more strategy or reflexes, which are just as important in determining athleticism, IMO.

I'm sure that the number of oval race tracks in Europe totals to maybe... 5.

Here in Ohio, there are 5 oval race tracks within an hour of my house, one of which I worked at for 2 years. Europe, by contrast, is overflowed with road courses. I wouldn't be opposed to a Sprint Cup race at Nurburgring or Twin Ring, though. I know Winston Cup had an exhibition at the oval at Twin Ring in 1998, so being overseas isn't such a farfetched idea. NASCAR needs to have a good marketing idea for a change, and I say going overseas again, or having Sprint Cup race at Eldora would be pretty exciting.

Also, that carpark NASCAR race isn't really NASCAR, it is just sanctioned by them. The closest series to NASCAR that aren't are ARCA, ASA, and CASCAR, and Hooters Pro Cup (whatever it is called now). ASA went under, and CASCAR was bought out by NASCAR years ago and became the Canadian Tire Series. ARCA and Pro Cup are pretty much the only national stock car circuits left that NASCAR hasn't monopolized.

Honestly i prefer road courses because the cars look like there all over the place. Plus nearly everytime there are fights or someone uses their car like a torpedo.

and Pro Cup is so dead now lol. That's what happens when you have no tv deal and lose Hooters. It's a shame because Pro Cup was once the premier racing series in the US, even better than nascar at one point imo.

I like ARCA a bit more now that they've been able to televise some of their short track races, the ones on NBC last season were great. And this year, I believe CBS is gonna cover a couple of them.
