No, I would play as the male version of whatever race was involved in this fantasy sci fi game. My older brother used to like playing with barbies and playing as a girl in video games, he came out of the closet a few years ago. Not saying that every guy who plays as a chick is gay but....
I assume you guys would only play as human in a fantasy or sci fi game?
I'll still never understand why dudes want to play as chicks in a video game.
But.....you've seen one example fairly close up. Fair enough. Obviously not every one of us that chooses female characters from time to time is gay - I say that because I and various friends and relatives who do so are all straight. In fact, the gay guys I know might be more inclined to choose male characters, if anything. Which says nothing about the sexuality of any specific guy that chooses to play as a guy obviously.
Guys who take the 'why would you play as a girl' position are usually ok with playing tomb raider - that's not THEM on screen, it's Lara Croft - but only choose male when creating their own character. The question about my theoretical sci fi or fantasy game (where human is one of several options) is because I'm interested in where the line is drawn. Won't choose a different gender but will choose elf/dwarf/Martian seems to be it. I wonder if it would change if we encountered aliens IRL? Would the 'other' being a real thing, as other genders are, make it a less acceptable choice?
