I like to buy my albums on CD because I like a physical music collection.  I also have some records but I rarely buy MP3 albums.

most of my music is MP3.

it's the nature of the game. it's portable.

but I do have a large collection of vinyl for @ home listening.

I've had a record player for years and once you realize how much better phono sounds than digital it's hard to ignore.

Usually exclusively vinyl or digital-rarely cds anymore. Sometimes tapes if it's a small band with a small batch of releases at a show.

There's something lovingly ritualistic about listening to vinyl at home - put the record on, drink some whiskey or beer, flip the record, refill, repeat. It's really my version of church.

Cd because it sounds better than mp3 and can be played on my speakers and subwoofers through my computer or blu ray. Mp3 dock speakers are terrible small things with no bass

Most of the music I get (free or paid) is from Bandcamp, so FLAC for me.

Pretty much all MP3's. Don't get me wrong I have a sh*t tonne of CD's but I've transferred them all on to the PC anyway, so basically all my music is digital.

The only reason I'll listen to a CD is in the car because I don't have an aux port, we have a six-stacker instead which comes in handy for the many multi-disc live albums I have.

Mostly vinyl. To me there's just something about owning the music physically, and be able to hold it in your hand; it is also far superior sound-wise.

For the people who buys album, do you only buy albums from your favorite artist/band?

Yep. If it's only a song or two I seem to like by the artist I tend to just use youtube-mp3.org.

Yes, but I do buy albums from bands I like less as well ebcause they might jsut have a good album. But mostly I buy specific tracks if they are not among my favourite bands.

Muse, Snow Patrol, Scissor sisters etc. I usually go for the album. I do it all through iTunes these days

I tend to buy Vinyl or CD's and thanks to Amazon and HMV, I get the digital version for free right away anyway, so I don't see a problem throwing down the extra £2 to get a physical copy if it means I get the MP3 versions anyway.

I don't understand this question...

...are you telling me that sometimes you buy albums from bands you don't like?

I'm confused.

I think he's saying if you buy album's from artists you don't recognize, but you're interested in it for it's aesthetics or something

Normally I just go on a torrent site and download MP3s. I'd love to support the musicians, but it's hard when you're a broke college kid.

MP3, because I'm a Millennial. Lol.. Also, there's a severe lack of quality CD's; only 3 songs are good on modern albums. :panic:

Of course not! What's the point of listening to just a handfull of artists? You gotta explore!

If you're a rap fan like me, you don't even need to feel guilty about it.  Not that i listen to a lot of the new rap artists but if anyone ever gives you grief about listening to it for free just show them one of their 10000000 songs dedicated to bragging about how much money and sex they get.

Why do they need help ? If anything they should be helping me !

In all honesty that's how i feel about the music industry as a whole at this point. These ''artists'' ( im talking mainstream artists ) make a sh*t load of their money in other places the music is a small percent these days so you shouldn't feel bad about stealing miley cyrus's music she's already made it clear she don't give a f*ck !

I would be more inclined to buy a lorde cd you should support good up and commers like that for sure but once they ''make it'' only pay for their sh*t if they still make good music.

I guess what im trying to say is if you hear something incredible pay for it !!!!!!!!! everything is garbage these days that's why i bought the imagine dragons cd their sh*t is pretty good for a mainstream act so i bought the cd to show support. If you ONLY pay for good music evil will lose in the long run ! we need more money poored into real talent and less into miley cyrus

ya dig

For the record I don't listen to underground stuff as much as i'd like because between work and everything else I couldn't be f*cked looking for the one gem. i'll get around too it someday soon because im tired of listening to the same stuff but its finding the time, sources and dedication to search throw tons of albums to find an artist I like. It's a huge process but can be very rewarding

I am pretty split on MP3's and CDs anymore. Any new music I get is definitely MP3, but the other half of the music I get is albums from 5+ years ago where I can get a used CD on Amazon for <$2.00. I do own a few records, but purely for the novelty, as I don't have a record player.

Even though they revived LPs, and I'll always have a collection, they came back a bit spendy I believe based on cost of production in limited capacity these days.

I buy CDs and DVDs still, but perhaps their real downfall was breakable jewelcases??

For the above about musicians being rich, well off, not needing fan's money, you're completely brainwashed by the commercial side, the media side of music.

Most musicians are in the starving artist's boat. That's their only income, sans benefits you get through a standard employer!

Support the music you love, or live without it. Not an enticing aspect I tell ya.

Years ago I only bought CDs, I have a huge CD collection. Now most music I get is downloaded from internet or iTunes Store. You know, the digital era. But when I travel abroad I buy CDs of local music that is hard to find on the internet or iTunes Store.
