GTA IV makes you feel like you're apart of the game. GTA V feels like a movie being directed. You can't even do missions without that horrible checklist coming up making you feel as if you should be playing R*'s way.

Simple as that IMO.

They both feel like movies, but V feels like a Michael Bay 2 hour movie that you're forced to sit through, yet IV comes across as a Scorcese/Coppola six-hour epic that the producers have given you the directorial reins to. The difference between a Mickey D's cheeseburger (V) and a prime cut of Filet Mignon (IV).

I wish they followed through with the idea to have some extra land in north Alderny. Would have made the map more diverse. I can't fully enjoy V's map with the awful physics.

I never left Liberty City or New Alderney. Ok I did play V for three weeks, took out the disc to watch DREDD (2012) on Blu-Ray, V subsequently has not been re inserted into my PS3. I can play IV for many hours a week and I don't get bored.

Cheers.

Tried out IV multiplayer for the first time in a long time, got grossed out by the graphics, and turned it off.

I'm not really that focused on graphics in a game normally, but damn does gta4 have a really depressing colour palette. It's really hard to look past after V.

You're saying that like it's a shock.:p

GTA IV's colour palette has always been depressing, but that's why I like it. The greys, browns etc make LC genuinely unpleasant.

Most cities are like that in real life - generally unpleasant cesspools of rotten humanity who are worth about as much as manure on your boots. Why should online be any different?

Liberty City would look awful if it was colorful, a good example is TBOGT.

I don't think TBoGT's palette deprived LC of its style. It wasn't as artistic, but I'm not really a fan of brown and grey. The city in TBoGT still feels dense, urban canyons in Algonquin are still majestic and the city still looks dirty and as if people actually live in it - it doesn't feel like some fake movie set. And, most importantly, R* got rid of blur and bloom in 360 version, which made the game look 100 % better by default.

Real world is just as colorful as TBoGT. I think if I went to New York in summer, it would look just like LC in TBoGT. The only problem I see is that IV is set in autumn and I guess the city isn't as bright during that time of year.

I played for a bit the other day; couldn't handle it after I kept getting calls to hangout and sh*t.

The story was great, the city and elements were great.. but the mechanics are just terrible.

The thing is TBOGT is set during autumn aswell since it runs in line with GTA IV and TLAD. Personally I think the palettes R* chose for all three games were to reflect the kinds of stories/themes they conveyed.

GTA IV and TLAD would've been strange with TBOGT's palette. Just as TBOGT would with the browns, greys etc used in GTA IV and TLAD.

I know, I just phrased my post wrong.

Anyway, I don't think TBoGT's palette would destroy IV's or TLaD's atmosphere. Washed out colors worked well with their stories, but it can be done the other way too. R* themselves proved it with Max Payne 3, which was one of the darkest, grittiest and most gruesome (in a good, atmospheric way, not in shock slasher movie way) games I've ever played and it was very colorful and vibrant. RDR and LAN were quite colorful too and they weren't happy, lightheated games either.

Every time I play IV, it takes two and a half in game days until I get a phone call.

I can never get a game of IV Multiplayer anymore, unless it's with 'friends' (Which is an extremely rare occasion).

Though, to be honest, I am not really interested in playing multiplayer anymore anyway.

Idk. Thinking of it, IV was a better game in quite a few aspects.

Cars physics, eneterable buildings, cops ( there are no cops on the streets at all in V ), IV characters had more personality and the missions where more mafia-like,

all I want is playing this game and GTA V without having to formatting the crappy PS3.

:( I love both games equally....yet I can't play them

damn you PS3 damn you

if only the Xbox wasn't that expensive. I would get one and ask one of my uncles in other countries getting IV on the Xbox so I'll have both games on different platforms....

quick questions;

1) does my PS3 hard disk space go down/decrease after each time I format it?

2) will formatting my PS3 will harm the hard disk?

3) not sure if you guys know it, but does deleting GTA V would delete my Online character? I don't think that'll happen because the data save at R*'s Cloud Servers and its Account-based, not Platform-based.

I hope you guys know it.....I want to play GTA IV but I can't because of this sh*tty PS3 :(

I'm in the midst of another play through and still enjoying this game.  Love the city, story, and the depressing colors.  Amazing game.

Man, I wish my laptop could handle it. I have alot of unfinished business in LC, still alot of untraveled places, alot of pursuits undone. But right now I can't play IV because I neither have time or money.

I bought GTA IV on the steam sale and already finished it 4 times on Xbox, now I will finish it on PC. So much better than GTA V.

In the summer, I'm going to do my 6th playthrough. Currently I'm just playing to receive the driving thrills and believable vibes that I did not get with V.

It is "English", and what I said has nothing to do with sexuality whatsoever.

In case English is not your first language, what I said could be politely translated as, "Heresy. Now go away."
