I thought skylines weren't legal in the states and they were being seized by the cops? (I may be wrong but that's the impression I was under)

Certain Skylines were illegal in JDM form for ownership because they didn't meet crash test standards and weren't safe for public roads.

This isn't new, so many car manufacturers got around this by redesigning vehicles to be sold in the US market by adding safety bumpers, integrating energy absorbing inserts in key areas, or completely making international only trims and body styling.

Hmm reminded me of the old 911 bumpers

1981_Porsche_911SC_Coupe_For_Sale_Rear_r

Still can't believe there are even multiple options for cars...

^ Exactly.

And most of those "safety bumpers" completely ruined the styling of the vehicles with them. (Lamborghini Countach comes to mind.)

But Porsche and VW at least made integrated 5mph bumpers, so they didn't look horrible.

At 17, you will NEVER be able to insure a 2.3l. I'll have to start saving for all the engine swaps for my early 20's. Sounds good tho. Would be much easier if I lived in the US

You have to insure the size of your engine? My insurance doesn't run over $100 but being a civic they're one of the most stolen cars in the US so the rates are still sort of high. I plan on doing the bluetop h23 swap here soon enough when I've got the extra money.

To those saying honda's are ugly, I beg to differ :p they may be cheap but they can be cleaned up pretty nice, I get compliments on it quite a bit surprisingly.

i can appreciate when a hondas done up like this, you obviously take care of the thing. i cannot stand when people who own literal rust buckets slap a fart cannon and some stupid camber kit and think theyre in a racecar. there's a reason the honda stereotype exists (unfortunately)...

They can look good if they are taken care of.

Good job.

Buff out those headlights! :pp

And yea, easy to steal and sell off as parts. Especially because aftermarket parts have no VIN's.

And a lot of civics have a ton of stuff done up. Insert stealth car!

I know! lol I keep putting it off, mineral water works surprisingly well for headlights just keep forgetting to pick some up.. and that's an older picture too, they haven't been getting any better :p

I've got a hidden kill switch in it though which when flipped disconnects the battery, that along with it being a manual in the states I feel it's decently theft-proof for the time being. I'll be getting an alarm and keyless entry installed whenever I get around to doing the swap though just incase.

I love how they handle though, they're real fun for just cruising around and can get near up to 40 mpg's on the freeway if you drive it right. I average around 32-35mpg and my lowest was 25mpg on a tank when I would just gun it whenever I had the chance haha. Cheap as crap to repair too, D series are everywhere.

Never heard of mineral water for that. Toothpaste and a rag polishes them out nicely. And there is always a kit you can get but sort of pointless.

Nitromethane is not Methanol but hey kudos for the effort. Also the last Fast and Furious film I was forced to sit through was the second one, couldn't be bothered to watch any of the others.

we need a new FnF, one that's with the times haha. Stance, muscle, drifting. Those are the biggest things now.

This new Heist sh*t is cool and all, I own every single one on DVD, but everytime I watch one, I just enjoy the car scenes/races. xD

Chemically it isn't. Maybe in relation to cars.

Edit: Oops read it wrong.  :miranda:

And FnF is a fun movie not a documentary, I enjoy it just for laughs.

Closest you'll get is a volvo. LOL

You can go to Japan, buy one at auction (they have great used cars, well used not like the ones here) , go through a ton of paper work, ship it, and have it.

I guess there has to be atleast one in the US.

Meh.

I'll just look around for any BMW E36 Estates or Mercedes Benz W123 Estates. Whoops, wrong number, W124.

I just want another wagon, since I sold my Legacy Wagon years ago.

I might see if I can find a cheap Dodge Magnum, always kinda liked em.

@A Maned Wolf

but really, i may have something for you. As far as imports go.

when i was in jeresy, there are these guys selling imports like Skylines and Silvias. You might be able to contact them and they could help you out.

or try this

http://newyork.craig...4493311591.html

$35,000 for an R32 GTR? He's crazy! I'd give him at max $20k!

Honestly, Looking around through craigslist. Jersey is the place to get sh*t. Most definitely not here in Texas (Domestic Ricers (facepalm)

Well, since I'm stuck in DC, all I see is 80's-90's Euro cars and at the Maryland line, f*cking 90's-00's Celica's and horribly over priced BMW's.

But there's a couple of M5's and two Eagle Talons (Sadly not the TSi) around the corner from me.

My '00 BMW 540i 6spd.  Black on black, 4.4L 32v V8 with M Sport Pkg.  Had a Racing Dynamics Intake, B&B exhaust w/ resonator delete, brembo brake components, and fully updated exterior lighting.

IMG_5231-1.jpg

^ Had to get rid of this because it was costing me way too much to maintain.  It saw a flatbed several times a year.  Now I have a 2008 GMC Sierra Z71.

^  One of the best trucks I could possibly find, and bulletproof if taken care of.  It has a 5.3L V8, 3.73 rear end, locking rear differential, tow package, transmission cooler, denali grille, leather, backup sensors.

good luck finding one in good condition lol. to me the trueno is a waste. for a really good one you'll spend 5K to 12K for a little boxy 2 door. you can get more bang for your buck with something else.

first car, buy a beater for less than 1500 bucks

you'll end up crashing it so dont buy an expensive car.

Doubt it. Not everyone crashes their first car. But at a young age, stuff like repairs can be a pain. Yeah I agree. For a first car don't go so pricy. Stay cheap. AE86's are good cars but are expensive.

Aha thanks for the advice! :) maybe if I'm lucky my mom will give me her matrix when (if) she gets a genesis coupe.
