Does anybody here share the same feeling about the smell of a new game fresh out of the wrapping?

This is a weird one and I am sure to get them comments off the people who 'rip and go' and don't understand the process :) I am fine with this just try and understand if you can.

Since I was a kid playing my PS1 (I was about 8 or 9) I remember opening new games, taking the plastic off, that squeak you get when you rub your finger over that fresh plastic and then opening it and getting that 'new' smell and then being ever so careful with the disc. (OK. this sounds like a game porno or something)

It was just routine for me and still is now :)

GTA 5 was the best one for me on release day (My GF bought me the special edition) <3

The box, the metal case, the blueprint map, the code slip...it was just a good feeling.

Thought I would share this to see who is the same.

More that look of a new game all wrapped up in shiny plastic, and opening it to find everything crammed in there neatly and in a way you'll never be able to duplicate. :)

New games smell like the inside of my mailbox.

I never take the stuff out, because it's never as neat.

I do know that new game smell though, it's great.

My blueprint map doesn't come out often in case it gets attacked or something that will put dirt on it :p I know it could be deemed as sad but who gives a f*ck really right?   It still smells brand new and thats the way it is staying.

Also disc 1 sits nice and straight after being put back in after the installation process.  It has never left its case since then...F*ck I feel guilty now, poor thing all locked up while disc 2 gets all the spin :( haha.

Just bought Borderlands 1 and 2 the other day (£18 pound for the box set new from Tesco)

It was great opening up to a 2 disc game, also max payne 3 (£5 new from tesco)

I remember when I got MP3 I literally buried my head into the game case and took a big whiff. Thank god no one came into my room.

It doesn't count when you put cocaine on it.

OP: Hell yeah. Takes me back lol

When I was little in Mexico, all the games we had were basically pirated, scratched-ass discs except for the really old systems like the Atari 2600. When we got to the US, everything was neatly packaged, it was f*cking awesome. I remember the first few times, I felt f*cking rich and sh*t lol all wrapped up in its original case with original container and legit disc. Felt like I was opening an adventure. Always get that feeling when I open up games I'm excited for.

I know the smell, and I love it. GTA V was really special. On September 17th morning, I took off the shrink wrap, opened the case, and took a major sniff inside. :inlove:

So I am not the only one who sits there sniffing the Case, manual and sometimes the disk...

I rubbed the metal GTA V case all over my body. My body waited two years, I needed it to sink in.

My copy of GTA IV still smells like brand new, I'm thinking about creating a perfume from it:.Eau de Bellic.

I don't buy any new games, atleast not in a proper box.

But I know the smell of second-hand big boxes! It's pretty awful.

You can keep your modern age porn!

gone are they days you'd open up your cardboard box slide out your white internal cardboard sleeve and have a whiff of your 310 page instruction manual and new plastic cartridge and jam it into your console, ahh man i need to find an unopened n64 game somewhere!

Gotta sniff that game manual.

Peepee gets totally hard nowadays when you see the game manual is actually some sort of booklet. Doesn't happen often.

Totally worth it.

I do like the smell, I also love ripping off the plastic of a brand new game's case, it feels I'm unwrapping a present at Christmas.

Yes. I really want to remember what was going through my head just before I unwrapped my first game and found myself sniffing it. I'm glad nobody has ever seen me doing this as it seems to indicate a fundamental confusion between inedible and edible objects.

Man, remember the days when games were packaged in those massive boxes? Those always smelled good. This is the only one I have left (it's not my oldest game, but it's the only box I kept). It has a very old game smell. I love the old game smell just as much as the new game smell, and this is the game that is the old smellest of them all haha

utf-8BSU1HMDczMDUtMjAxNDAxMjAtMTc0Ni5qcG

utf-8BSU1HMDczMTctMjAxNDAxMjAtMTc1NS5qcG

Bought it in 99 or 2000 (when it still smelled new), and for some reason there was an official Prima Games strategy guide inside the box as well, co-written by the creator of the game. Don't know why that was included, or if it came with every copy of the game.

Anyway, I've been smelling games since the beginning lol, but no game has ever smelled as good as GTAIV! Fact!

My ocd acts up with my game boxes. All my games are neatly placed in alphabetical order in my draw and all of them have their manuals and/or maps neatly tucked inside.
I absolutely hate it when someone puts a disk in the wrong cover, makes me want to slap them.

I am the same :) I hate other people touching my games too (thats why no one does)

All in order with all original documentation :) just the way it should be.

Smelling the manual of every new Rockstar game is a good way of getting it.

I got one even better. The feeling when you open a new game, smell that sh*t. Then when you find out the game sucks. Re-suran wrap the game, take it back to the store for a full refund because of course you never opened the game. LOL priceless
