Just a question about the forum. Bit curious.

The ★s seen on forum members pages. There are 5. Does one warning point equate to 1 ★ and if you get 5 ★ to get banned?

You see some members with the busted under their username. Does that equate to being banned? And is that perma banned?

This thread can be locked once there is a right answer. I wasn't sure where to look for this info. I did use the search tool.

Haha, no the rating system they added is different than the 5 stars you see under member's names.

The rating system is what you see on your profile page, it has nothing to do with being banned, it's just people rating what they think about you.

When people are banned or "busted" they have 5 stars under their names and it's perma I believe.

Hope that clears things out

You can interact with the stars, they're member ratings. (A few years back there was a system, I think called karma, and it worked like you said, and the stars would appear under usernames.)

Busted is banned, like you said.

The Have A Question Topic is for questions that have one unavoidably right answer, it's on the first page of general chat.

e: Darn! Beaten to the punch! :p

I guess its a thing that members use to rate others on how awesome they are on a five star scale. I'm at 5 stars and I'm nowhere near at risk of being banned.

Edit: double beaten to the punch.

The stars are actually refer to an accumulation of the "1-5 star rating" system we have in our profiles.

Busted = banned = permaban. Temp bans are just that, temporary, and the banning staff member can add x amount of warning points to your log. 1000 warning points = ban

Plz rate me 5 stars plz

Then how much does each kind of "violation" cost to an user?

Just like 1 or whatever. Reminders are 0. You'll likely never amount 1000 points, but it's really up to the individual staff member's discretion.

Sooo um... I should be banned then shouldn't I?

(I know it don't mean that.) :)

I never knew you could rate other member's profiles.

That explains why recently I've dropped a few stars since flogging other people's taste in cars in the Online section.

I take it as a compliment that people spare the time to downvote me.

Yeah it does thanks. The warning system and the rating system are two different things. :^:

My ratings on my page were empty so I was wondering what the ★ were for.

The Have A Question Topic is for questions that have one unavoidably right answer, it's on the first page of general chat.

I was going to post there, but it would probably get ignored. It sounds a bit selfish and attention grabbing, but making a thread would get the answers much quicker. As you can see by the first few responses, hence why I said it could be locked when I got the answers. :)

No. People vote how awesome you are. Quite bad though because any dickhead can come upon your page and give you one star instead of five.

I'll give you a deal here. I rate you 5 stars and in return, you give me 100 warning points :^:

You are only allowed to view your own warning points. Everyone has that warning counter w/link it is just invisible to everyone else.

Ironically after making this thread I get my first rating, and it's a 1 star.

Just for that I'm going to visit your profile and not rate you. :p

E:

I felt bad so I went back and gave you a few stars.  Honest stars even.

I am thoroughly confused why I have five stars. I believe it's because few people have actually rated me.

Yeah, that's because I just made a big deal out of it and people actually rated me.

Edit: My star rating is back at five. Everyone, this system is broken.

I get slightly creeped out about profile views.  I like the new forum software, but I kind of liked how the old one did not show you that people were looking at your profile.

Well what can I say, really what can I say, up to this point I didn't even realize that was a lot. I guess I can attribute it to my obvious suave *cough* :p

@Trip Just deselect "Show 5 last visitors on my Profile" and all profile lurkers will be anonymous once again, in the shadows hiding, waiting..

Yeah, it's a little weird. I had no idea so much profile viewing went on, but apparently people love profiles.

I assume it's a fair amount as I'm only in the 600 and something. Can't wait to hit 1K I'm gonna make a topic and everything. Start a new trend.

It is creepy. AceKingston checks mine at least 50 times a day and it can be unsettling. Sometimes you wonder just what exactly is going on over there.

Ha I just click on everyone's profile randomly at times. Still Matty keeps viewing my profile once in five minutes. Now that's very creepy.

He seems to have given it up now, I wonder why.
