What was your largest ever purchase?
For me it would be a close between the vintage vespa I restored (when I add up what I spent) right around 1,000 dollars between the vespa and parts and accessories.
My iPod/iPhone right around 400 each.
And my movie collection around 2,900 (when you combine the total spent movies (most purchased from the thrift store at around 50 cents each)

A degree. A cool £3290 per year for 3 years.

Funny thing is, that's a bargain now. I paid for my entire degree what some people pay per year now. Good thing Nick Clegg never stabbed us in the back eh Britain?

E: And to clarify, I'm no old-timer. I graduated in July.

My house. Seven bedroom Victorian built in the late 1800's.

I did not buy it as an investment but it has gone up in value 5x since picking it up. I bought it before the housing market nonsense(in the US) and before my neighborhood got 'discovered'.

A $600 iPad. It was required for a college class and we only used it twice throughout the whole semester.

My parents paid for my education so I can't list that.

I paid €550 on a Kickstarter for Carmageddon: Reincarnation.

I guess that's the most I ever spend on anything so far.

largest purchase? recently the upgrades of my pc. I paid approx. 562 $ excl. gpu cost (till R* releases pc specs). I guess additional 180-200 $ will be fine. so, yeah it's all there is to it.

My first and only car, a used 1994 Cadillac Seville for about $1,400. Add in the parts and registration and it comes to about $2,000 on the nose. The second most expensive thing (well, things rather) I've ever purchased were the parts to my computer, which totaled around $1,200.

Oh yeah, this month I'm hoping to put together a new PC, which will set me back more than  €550,-.

So that's my future largest purchase.

I actually work in the Barcelona's port and i decided to take a couple of pics of my car. Too bad the big container ships left, it could have been a nice pic with them in the background.

I have a slightly different one, and better - but I guess it went out of stock or something and they took it off the site.

how much the kid cost? did you buy it on the internet? jokes

but seriously they once did an estimate on how much it costs to raise the average kid till the age of 18 (and lets be honest even if a kid moves out at 18 (how often does that happen) you're still going to be giving them money) and i dont remember the amount but it was in the millions.

I've bought AMD shares in increments of 5K 3 times with an average price of about 3.20$. Other than that... probably my truck (2011 Ford Ranger).

What?! Does getting a degree cost money where you live? That's idiotic! With a system like that you are only allowing those with the most cash to succeed in getting a good, well paid job etc.

As for my 'largest ever purchase' my car has cost me almost 3k (USD) this far.

I don't think that's true. It's fairly easy to get a college loan. If everyone went to college, however, I believe you'd hear a lot of complaining that there aren't enough jobs for X majors. Especially when the recession hit, you had people saying that their degrees weren't getting them anywhere, specifically, English and Social Science/Humanities majors.

My sh*tty $400 car.

My sh*tty $375 laptop I am typing his on.

My amazing $275 phone.

I know I shouldn't be complaining, but judging the company I keep, I sound like a bum when I list these to my peers.
