G-d I used to love Sonic as a kid. I played all the SEGA titles on my old Master System II, and later via the Mega Collection Gamecube release. Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2: Battle were amazing--Sonic was such a cool character. The comics were great too, as was the fantastic TV show (there were two, actually--one was for tweens and had a "dark" atmosphere, the other was much more lighthearted and I refer to it now):

I used to like Mario on the Game Boy Colour, but played the sh*t out of "Wario World 3" (if that's what it was called). Loved that game. I had quite a few hobbies as a kid, but I absolutely loved gaming--Time Splitters, Tekken 3, Soul Calibur...the list goes on. I loved GTA ever since playing III and VC at a family friend's house at the age of eight--getting SA for Christmas despite being far too young was amazing (I played it so much that day that I was actually told to show some attention to my other presents so not to cause offense :D ).

Does anyone else remember Official Playstation Magazine? I know Typhus does. I used to get that every month for the demo discs. Gaming magazines now are far more expensive and don't contain anywhere near as many demos, if any. There was a Net Yaroze entry every month which featured games made by independent developers for the PSOne. All of the games were great, but some I still remember now as outstanding:

G-d the nostalgia on hearing the soundtrack to this again. I was seven when I first played this--we were tasked with writing a story in English class and I remember ripping off this game:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=en3CrlIHhME

This was addictive as hell:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tnNNviak-Sk

Used to watch this a lot as a kid, too:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cou9QRqa87c

I'm fortunate to have enjoyed a good childhood. Sure, there were incidents that I won't go into which sucked, but that's the same for everyone. The best thing about childhood, for me at least, was the camaraderie I shared with my mates. Getting into trouble, laughing so much that the teacher sends you out, fighting just for the fun of it, kicking the other team's striker in the shins when the referee wasn't looking, spending hours in my backgarden shooting air guns till it got dark, reading To Kill a Mocking Bird...I had some great times back then, but it's a little indulgent to spend ages thinking about all of that now.

I'd have to split it into two, 90s TV and early 00s on the Internet.

A few random shows I remember. Used to love anything on Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon. Points if you remember the last show, think it was Australian.

All my young teen years, early 00s, were spent online and late night cartoons. I'd spend hours at at time on these:

Audiogalaxy basically introduced me to the music tastes I still have now. Memories :(

G-d how did I forget Kenan and Kel?

I'd love some orange soda now. That picture of the cartoon characters is insane (Rocko looks like he just wants to be left alone. You know something was wrong with kids' cartoons in the 90s when the most normal character was a dingo or something).

@Kirsty, I so remember Napster, Morpheus, Kazaa, Limewire.. good days indeed. We were torrent pioneers in those days!

40 Winks was a top platformer.

I wish I'd kept my demo discs in better condition like you've done.

The PSOne had some absolutely brilliant platformers. The best of which was, naturally, Crash Bandicoot.

I don't know if ANYONE knows these (even inside of the Netherlands). But we used to have CD's (and later DVD's) which featured cracked installs of recently released games, with as much as 30 games/programs/utilities on one CD.

It was called Twilight:

More info here:

Wikipedia

Twilight Website

Now, we never bought them we got copies of them instead (not sure how, by downloading or by sneaky buying, can't remember since I was 6 or so).

That's where I played all my games from.

Also check out this video about it:

Basically for 10-20 Euros you had 15-20 games and 20-30 Apps which usually have INSANE prices.

Like plenty of others, a large chunk of my childhood was devoted to the Pokemon series, especially the cards. I found a Charizard in my very first pack and ended up getting bombarded with trade offers in school. I never did pass it on though, I still have the card to this day.

Also, when it comes to nostalgia, why is Robot Wars always overlooked?

No! Come on. Play along!!!

Topps trading cards. Sure the standard baseball and football were always around, but there was this weird time when everything was getting cards. Every TV show and movie. Nothing was safe.

Another thing that hasn't been mentioned is the Jackass TV series. Don't tell me you didn't watch that! IMO, the TV series is better than the movies.

Man I almost forgot about one of my favorite childhood shows

Dinosaurs

I honestly don't remember much about this show other than "Honey I'm Home!" and "Not the Mama!!" haha, but I never missed an episode as a kid.

Ah yes I loved that show

I remember getting these for 10c each at Toyland at Macquarie Centre in the early 90s. They only came in light blue and red at the time. You could only ever get one throw out of them because folding the parachutes again never worked properly.

Pretty sure I'm not older than MANY of the users here but I'm sure that many people had this gem in their childhood or teen years

Those that watched Cartoon Network or Toonami years ago would remember the intros they used to the Dragon Ball series

There was also this

^ I also had one of those at one stage

Also, me and my bro both had one of these bb guns when we were young:

Man, we must've gone through millions of those pellets shooting at each other, or shooting pigeons and stuff haha. Good times :)

I loved Robot Wars, but I was well into my high school years when it was on so I wasn't exactly a child anymore lol.

Cheers. The name doesn't ring a bell but that screenshot certainly does.

One of the first proper strategy war games I played. I got hooked.
