What is this, f*cking Facebook? Next stupid thread gets a week long temp. Downside of being a mod is when people assume it's OK to act like childish twats. Don't.

What defines a stupid thread?

A stupid person!

Pluses of being a mod:

+ Have respect from people

+ If you're mad with someone, you can do whatever you want to to his or her account

+ Almost always appear intelligent no matter what you say - in the eyes of normal users

+ Fright control - if you post a PM to an user with a formal title, it can traumatize the poor bloke forever

Downsides of being a mod:

- There are always idiots who do not follow your orders

- You will seem like a dictator if you even warn anyone for anything

- Mods get taunted the most

- You'll have to reply to people that have no idea on how thing X works

- You'll have to have profound discussions with people that are high

If she wishes to join the OGA then she already has blown any of her chances of joining the OGA. I doubt any OGA gang would take her in the first place given her track record.

I guess half of this topic has all been about theadmiral and her bad topics. It would be better if we stop. :/

So, yeah, On topic. I had thought about becoming a mod a few times but then those "few times" passed away quickly. I don't dare to take that tough post aftre knowing the bitter truth. Mod powers are only useful when required.

Downside can be only one: Mods are no longer treated as humans. I have seen many members posting hate about different mods (half of it is from GTA V Section itself) on how mods are inhuman to lock their topic which they think is productive. I never support the mods or members when it comes to these issues but I go with my own instincts. Yes, sometimes mods are rude but the members are no less. I sometimes feel bad for those guys who were promoted to become a moderator in this site. They don't have that much freedom as we do, not much of a chance to become active like we are. I never wish to be a mod as I don't wish to treated like an alien.

I still would wish if people were more linient to some mods here. If they do show some respect then this forum would become more friendly.

Good thing i'm not a 12 year old who aspires to be in a mafia on a grand theft auto forum. I think I'll get over it.

Meh. Most of the moderators/staff here are here when they have spare time (in-between work and school and whatever else they have going on in their life's) and wish to/can be here. Like most other members of this forum.

As for me, I'm here mostly because I have a crapload of free time to work with for a while. :p

Unless you don't want to get banned again.

Nobody ever asks if they want to join a group or clan in this forum. You will loose your chance right after you request for it. It's been like for ages, deal with it. Infact, it would be better if you didn't ask. It's for your own benifit.

You don't want to know what we do to those who ask to become a moderator. You really don't.

Becoming a Mod/Forum Leader sounds great, You get to lock topics.

Fixed.

the downside? Having people send  you abusive PMs, write hateful messages about you on their profiles. Have people send you PMs instead of reporting topics with the report function. Have people send you PMs to complain about their topics being locked.

Having to deal with locking the same thread by the same person over and over again. Having to lock interesting threads because people think it's OK to derail it with personal attacks.

Just generally having people abuse you, for taking up a voluntary position, in which your primary goal is to make the forum a better place for everyone. There's no pay, it's personal time that's sacrificed to do the moderation. It's not something that would ever be rewarding, though it is nice to be able to see the stuff that gets deleted, or hidden.

But, still, I can lock threads, so... yay?

Honestly though, I'd perm-ban about half of the people on this forum if I could, there's some awful people on here.

I see. So its not the thread itself, it is the track record of the person that makes it.

Nope, it's just that you start every thread with 'I am very interested blah blah' which makes you sound as though you are some sort of stalker. Don't get me started on your behavior in the footy desk.

Also 5k posts in 3 months is insane. That's like 1.5 per month and 50 per day, even worse is that most of them are straight trash.
Woah! 5K in 3 months? I wasn't even that bad on my past account. That is excessive.

I thought I had a lot...

I did some random calculation (2,157 posts before this one, ~108 days being here), it claims my average posting rate is 19,97222... or ~20 posts per day. But theadmiral's post amount... damn.

She is the last person you'd expect to have the most number of likes on GTAF.

Ey, let's lay off Theadmiral a bit.

Why can't we all just be together? Now I don't know what's going on, and frankly, I don't care. But let's all just hug together and cuddle it out.

We'll work something out, yeah?

Also don't forget to vote for Xerukal for moderator 2014. I'm in the V section all the time and I'm a lifeless piece of sh*t with too much witty humor stuck up my rectum! And smart posts, too!

Just respect and love eachother! It's easy!

If you want my take on it:

People dont respect you more or less. If anything it makes you a bigger target for scrutiny.

It is also much harder to just enjoy the forums. Rather than browsing and commenting leisurely, we are always putting out fires.
