The truth is, we rely on most members' common sense to help them navigate the pratfalls of spamming. And most conversational posts are free to slide by.  However, when we're talking about members who routinely make over 100 posts a day, your percentage of spam contribution shoots through the f*cking roof.

Rule of thumb? If it's not adding to the conversation in a meaningful way, or it's simply a backhanded sarcastic remark, dont bloody post it.

It's normally not the topic title or subject that causes a topic to get locked but the discussions and spamming that follow.

I'm failing to see much of a distinction between "Do you do drugs" "What are you drinking right now" "How do you like your eggs" and some of the other topics that were immediately locked. I don't want to get in trouble for making any more threads that the moderators do not like so I just am trying to figure out what we can and what we cant make.

"Immediately" is a brash overstatement.

What is this, f*cking Facebook? Next stupid thread gets a week long temp. Downside of being a mod is when people assume it's OK to act like childish twats. Don't.

What defines a stupid thread?

Cat thread and coffee thread were immediately locked within 5 minutes, no?

I don't see the distinction between those and many of the other threads here that are open. And i'm being honest! we can talk in PM instead if you don't want it here.

tbh, the cat thread was kind of pushing it. I love cats, they're awesome and all that, but there should be a pet thread floating around somewhere. So cat talk would probably fit better in that thread.

You were talking about the egg thread and you know it. Cat thread was what I'd define as "stupid" - adds nothing but an excuse for people to spam.

...that's all "stupid posts".  You know, like I said, common sense. Use it.

I didn't make the egg thread and it is still open. What I was asking is what is the difference between that and the ones that are being locked.

I'm having deja f*cking vu. Image dump threads don't have a place in this forum. It's spammy as sh*t and nobody wants to read them - they're there just to sh*tpost. If you want to do that, go to 4chan.

There is no list with approved topic titles or subjects so there is no need to be defensive about this or pose silly counter arguments like needing mod permission.

It's kind of obvious, what would happen, if upon entering a forum you saw the same user posting 7 topics with "What do you do on Mondays?" and Tuesdays, and Wednesdays and so on. It's called spam. Whether you lace that spam with eggs, cats or coffee, it doesn't disguise the smell. People use these topics to boost their post count without contributory discussion, no matter how much criteria you put into the OP. This is off-topic, but it is not 'post whatever the hell you want in 140 characters'.

We should close the picture thread, the member picture thread, the animated gif thread, the funny picture thread, and the video thread. I agree with you.

I see. So its not the thread itself, it is the track record of the person that makes it.

Not entirely, but partly. Your post count speaks for itself.

The main thing that will always determine if a thread will stay open is the replies it has or is likely to generate. It is as simple as that and applies to any subject and section of these forums.

I never understood the reasoning or desperation behind racing to have such a high post count on an internet forum. Another forum I've been a member of for nearly 8 years, and my contributions there are just shy of 4000. Seriously, I don't look at somebody's post count and think "wow, look how impressive that is", so why does anybody else? *actual question*

Assume something about the person above you VS list actual facts about yourself. -___-  that's not even the same thing though.

Post count doesn't mean sh*t in some cases. My past account had like 6,000 posts. I wasn't much of a spammer either.

And no, I did not intentionally try to get a high post count. I posted every time I had free time in school or when I was bored at home. I'm "naturally" a guy who posts a lot like a guy who talks a lot.

Downsides? I can't access anyone's bank account.

Seriously though I think when people assume moderators are just here to lock threads and ban people. We're here for the same reasons as everyone else. To socialise and to hang out.

It gets frustrating when people treat us as objects rather than human beings. Dealing with porn spammers and such comes with the job, but we're just members with the power to forum assassinate others. Not a major difference at really.

Just from observation the worst part looks to be filtering yourself. Being passive to almost every individual/thread on here. Your expression would feel a little contained as you're essentially a damn parent. Except instead of one screaming child it's a whole forum of them.

Nope, it's just that you start every thread with 'I am very interested blah blah' which makes you sound as though you are some sort of stalker. Don't get me started on your behavior in the footy desk.

Also 5k posts in 3 months is insane. That's like 1.5 per month and 50 per day, even worse is that most of them are straight trash.

456 posts in a single topic in like 3 months and this is what the OP of the topic says:

If any rockstar admins are reading Can we please? It would make a lot more sense than tennis bc only French people and Spaniards play it

What we have come up with so far:

An innovative cricket mode for GTA Online that is similar in style to the sports already included in the game. Some mechanics we've already fleshed out for our proposal/petition we'll be sending to rockstar:

Batting with a variety of shots, forward defensive, backwards block, hook, pull, cover drive, et cetera by pulling the stick back and timing your swing forward while also holding down a button to designate the type of shot.

Bowling similar to golf swing where you pick power , line, and spin and then run up and press X at the right time to avoid an umpire calling you for a no ball

Mechanic similar to the strip club touching mechanic where you can tamper with the ball when the umpire isn't looking and if he catches you you get a warning or rated as a bad sport

MEchanic borrowed from store robberies where you yell HOWZAT into your microphone to appeal for nicks and LBWS and the umpire actually reacts based off how convincing your appeal is

Indian food built in to regenerate stamina during drinks breaks

Health damage from bouncers , also a penalty to reaction time.

11 fielders, 2 batters play at once as do 3 umpires for the GTA Online total of 16. Other batsmen spectate while they wait and can clap or sledge opposition by pressing various buttons.

We have a few more things planned as well in this but this is the game in a nutshell.

I'm tired from all this brainstorming but hopefully when the UK people wake up they will have some great ideas to add into this as well.

No wonder your threads are getting locked admiral.
