When the first gameplay trailer for Grand Theft Auto Online debuted, it showcased Heists and other cool things... only to find out Heists weren't in online from the beginning when GTA Online launched...

UPDATE: I'm not trying to bash Rockstar's advertising efforts and strategies, just thought it was kind of weird... they really made it sounds like as soon as the game was launched you could just rob a bank with your Crew... oh well.

Kill-zoning the damn trailers!

What you see isn't always what you get, it got your attention and that's all that matters.

Lol.  Adverts, misleading?  Surely not!! When I saw an advert for cheap flights to New York, from £295, I couldn't believe my eyes.  Yes.  They do 1 seat at £295, leaving at 3am on a Tuesday morning in March.  Every other flight is a minimum of £700, but as long as one of them is £295 then they can say "from".

It's called marketing, and is the practice of lying without lying.  Either get used to it, go live in a forest, or get off the planet.

Reminds me a lot like Aliens Colonial Marines, remember that awesome E3 trailer, then see the finished product. IIRC a class-action lawsuit was filed because of it.

Misleading? Kinda. I mean, you'll never see a Grotti Cheetah parked on the side of a road ready for someone to steal :p

Where is Bawsaq online?

Do you really want modders to get their hands on that simplistic stock market? Bawsaq was predetermined in single player (minor variations on stocks) it would be a complete clusterfluck online.

They also said the world is continually expanding PMSL. 3 months and we have a water pistol, a broken bottle and 3 crappy vehicles.

Don't forget Christmas outfits for about a week. lol.

The trailer was rather misleading. The stock market could have been if game security was better and the modding hadn't happened. As is, I think it probably is never going to be included.

Blame the hackers, modders and glitchers. They are diverting r* attention and are also the probable reason the stock market is offline and why so many rules have been adjusted. Some act like they are heroes and all they are doing is making the game worse for all of us.

Really? Is that why Heist didn't come out at first?

For me, when you advertise something, you should give customers the product or service as accurate as they advertised that time.

When I buy a burger and in the caption & picture says it's filled with beef, bacon, mushroom, tomato, cucumber, and mustard, then I'd expect my burger to be completely come as they had shown and said. I wouldn't want separated pieces of the burger to be served to me one by one. And let's say I want it to come with additional drinks and fries, I would want to pay for additional charges. Why? Because they did not promise in the advertisement that the burger should come with drinks and fries.

Rockstar did what every infomercial does when they sell a product. Instead of charging us $19.95, they got us anywhere from $59.99 - 149.99.  But it will take more than mighty putty to fix the many aspects of this game.

I agree with you in regards to selling exactly what you're "selling", but it just doesn't work like that.

Marketing is just a f*cked up thing that people have no idea how far it goes, you shouldn't be surprised how often you go to buy something and you get less than what was meant to be included.

I already decided I was going to buy the game before any trailer so for me it was more of a sneak peak than something that was going to convince me to buy it. But I agree with the others, advertisers are sneaky as f*ck. I'm even more bothered by the technique of making commercials annoying so that they become memorable.

When I was a kid I saw this big robot shaped thing in a toy shop that looked really cool.  The photo on the box showed a kid with the biggest grin on his face, looking inside it at all the mini robot toys that were in there.  There was like 100 of them!

I went crazy for it, hassling my Mum to buy it for me until she eventually broke and gave in.  Imagine the look on my face when I opened it up to find that it was empty - not one single mini toy robot inside.  It didn't say on the box that it was just an empty case, but neither did it say it wasn't.

Marketing is made up of 2 types of people.  Liars and f*cking liars.  It's one of the few things in life that's more ridiculous than mainstream news media.

Literally, just ignore any details in advertisements.  Life is easier that way.
