I'm sure a majority of the people who were waiting for this game were expecting way too much. They thought this game will do everything perfectly. It doesn't. But to answer your question; kinda. Then again, playing 1 game for a substantial amount of time tends to make the player get bored of it. Now, that amount of time depends on the person. But for now, I'm done with the game. In fact, I'm done with GTA in general for quite some time. But I'm sure the SP DLC (does that even exists) will bring me back to this game, but not for a long time. And there's also the MP DLC. Don't get me wrong, DLC's like these are mostly sh*t, but they're f*cking free. You have no right to complain about them.

I definitely over hyped the game in my head and was disappointed for about the first month but after that I just tried to appreciate the game for what it is and am really enjoying it now. I just had to get rid of preconceived notions that I had.

This is in contrast to how most of the regulars in this section presume I felt when I first played V: V did feel like it met my expectations when I first played it. In a different thread, I did express how "awkward" the game felt when I was escaping the police in that red Rapid GT stolen from that beach house, but that feeling quickly drifted away. I was impressed by the graphics, the map, the cars, the story, and I quickly adapted to the driving physics.

However, everything just got old after a while and I felt that way towards the end of the storyline. The driving got dull and soulless, the story's ending felt rushed, the purchasing of cars and the cars themselves lost their shine, and the map's layout quickly got old. I gave V a much needed break in November and came back a week ago. It quickly begun to feel the same way it did back in November. I relaxed and went for a drive in my cars. I wasn't as annoyed nor critical as I was back in November, but I was just as bored. The city felt like an empty shell where I could only experience the exterior of it. Yes you had the convenience stores and a few other places but nothing to give your a real feel for the city.

The game just doesn't wow me anymore.

Short-term: 8.5/10
Long-term: 7/10

I revised my score for GTA V from an 8/10 down to a 7.5/10. That's what I really feel this game deserves.

For me the shine is still there six months on, and with IV it faded in a month, barely even that. V feels to me how VC and SA felt to me as a kid, and I never thought I'd have that feeling again so I was truly shocked, all of that sense of discovery and exploration and life - it came flooding back in a way that IV just didn't do for me. I think it's one of the best videogames I've played. It's not perfect, but then it was never supposed to be.

Just give Rockstar more time. Doing what they've done so far is great, and they already told us they have like 40 years worth of ideas for GTA.

Would you rather get to play a game a year early missing a few features to be added later or wait another year to have the same features?

I'm sure I recall the amount of people whining about how GTA was delayed so much.

GTA V is such a solid game. When I made my first character online, It missed quite abit of stuff out due to the Multiplayer issues. When the 'glitches money' thing came around, A hacker gave me so much money. With that money, I bought a Entity XF and I obviously didn't feel any kind of accomplishment doing so due to the money being given to me.I got to around rank 85 and decided to fill up the second character slot. I'm now rank 32 and I've purchased a Entity XF is the legit kind of way. I'm now left with approx $100,000.

Do I think this game has lost its shine? Not at all. I suppose it depends what kind of things you do within online and who you play with. I personally think that Rockstar have got alot more to bring into the game. I would love to see a few better haircuts (the long hair on males isn't exactly long is it?). It would be cool to have a few new game modes. Also, a few new radio stations would be awesome. I listen to Channel X mostly and Rock Radio sometimes. It'd be great to have a heavy metal radio station introduced.

It will never lose it's shine.

This game was great when it first came out. I would rate it a 8.5 out of 10. Now its been 6 months people are starting too see the problems with this game.

- The lack of features in Single Player

- The lack of features that are different in Online

- Lack of sh*t to go into

- Lack of a good countryside

I would rate this game a 7/10 now. I think I have the right to judge the game this way. 2 times I beat the Single Player and am rank 114 online. I had more than enough time to give it credit. Truth be told I got bored of the game after October was done. The only Rockstar game that kept me coming back and still is Red Dead Redemption. Their only TRUE MASTERPIECE.

Only issue is it had less than I expected and that old hype feeling died out. But I still enjoy playing the game.

Great points made, albeit I disagree with that last part. :^: I have played V for hours and it took some time for me to feel the way I feel towards V right now. Its not like I started complaining right after I played the game. All of the things that bugged me were ignored when the game was new to me but after a while they slowly but surely grew and had begun to tug at me. My biggest problems with this game are the missed opportunities and the annoyances.

Don't even get me started on the missed opportunities. The main annoyances to me are the cops, the drivers, and overly sensitive peds.

V has grown on me the more I have played it and talked on here about it.

It's ageing very nicely  :p

Only a next gen GTA could topple those graphics at times. Like I said in another thread even the less detailed bits of the map are still nice.

It was perfect until I saw all the flaws and poorly made stuff in game. I hope it`s because of console hardware limitation and PC version will have the real GTA5 experience, that is IF IT WILL EVER GET HERE! R* Bastards...

I'm going to take a lot of sh*t for this one but...

Yes. It has. I tried to play V for the first time in a couple of months yesterday, I was honestly so bored I turned it off after 20 minutes. That said, I tried playing IV and EFLC as well, and they also bored the sh*t out of me. Maybe it was just the mood I was in.

Skyrim, though - I've been playing it constantly for 3 years and it just doesn't get old. What's that all about? What has it got that GTA hasn't?

It certainly is, but I'd like to work out why I can trudge around that world for literally thousands of hours and it never gets stale, yet returning to V was a really awful, stultifying experience.

I can only assume that my GTA threshold is much lower than my Elder Scrolls one.

When I first played through V, I played through 3 times. Over a 12 week period, thereabouts. Came back to it a few months back, it was fine, but now - just can't get into it all of a sudden. Perhaps I just need to start a new game - maybe after the DLC drops. But as mentioned, all GTA games left me cold, so it's not a problem with V specifically.

I think what Skyrim has that GTAV doesn't is the feeling of long-term progression, which doesn't involve heavy amounts of grinding. I haven't played Skyrim but I assume the progression is similar to Fallout, where there's lots of stuff and you're getting new items away from the story.

In V there really isn't any skill to perfect other than shooting your guns, and that's if you're playing free-aim.

For the auto-aimers there is pretty much no skill to perfect, because the game does so much for you, or makes things too easy.

In V the only "viable" playstyles, are driving a tank, driving a supercar, or staying on-foot. And everything is OP to the point that there's no balance. If you have a tank, you'll take out anything. If you have a supercar, you'll be taken down by a tank but you can take out on-foot people providing they don't use auto-shotguns or sticky bombs. On-foot people take out on-foot people with auto shotguns or skill. The vast majority of people use the former, so the only true balance in GTAV is shooting eachother with non-AS guns. Yeah, that's pretty bad.

In IV, however, or more specifically, EFLC, EVERY playstyle is balanced.

If you're on-foot, you've got a good shot on cars, and aircraft if you stay in cover, which IV had plenty of.

If you're in a car and experienced, you can even evade Buzzards firing their missiles full-auto. Maybe the Buzzard was a bit OP on people on-foot but everything else is still much more balanced than V.

And of course, if you're in an experienced pilot in an Annihilator, you can easily take out most people in open spaces using the MGs.

And certainly, all the three main skills (drive-by, pilot, on-foot soldier) could all be perfected, and people really were specialists. In V you can't seriously call yourself a good pilot, or driver, because they're both so easy. In IV I couldn't fire the Annihilator's MG for sh*t, but I was a godly driver and above average shooter. All these three skills were different for everyone.

In V however, you've got EVERYONE with godly flying and driving because it's so dumbed down and easy.

Sure, accessibility is alright for short-term but this makes your game wear off so damn quickly.

Hell, in IV you actually wanted to survive, to keep all the ammo you picked up. Because of this, full-scale freemode wars were a blast when you've got a good team.

To summarise, V wears off quickly because it focuses on accessibility and not long-term skill improvement with everyone having different skills and drawbacks.
