Introduction

In an earlier attempt to accomplish this here is a smaller version of what I tried earlier: ''9/11 Memorial Pack''.

It has taken me many many years to actually get this project to its current stage. Like many other modders I started low skilled. There for I collected a group of people who actually had the skills to help me on this project. I found a pro modeler with amazing skills that actually could make the start of the the body. First year I've been collecting references for the modeling progress. So many hard searching on the internet to actually find this, what I call, a hero truck.  The modeler, named BläckAce started modeling. The base was quite there. Though it had lots and lots of inaccuracies.

I decided to start learning ZModeler myself. Around March 2012 I started with minor projects. While I kept making simple projects I started learning more, creating better modifications. Now it is 2014, almost two years later, and I have finally gained the skills to take over. For the past half year I've been working on the creation by BläckAce. I started converting it. It started to look like something, yeah. But as you keep checking references you keep finding misaccuracies. Lots and lots of editing had to be done. This took me like half a year... After fixing up the model simple objects had to be added to make it actually like the real life truck. After doing that, while I'm not even done yet, I started templating and texturing it. Now it carries a livery it really starts to look like the outcome.

Now, here we are. I decided to make this topic for you guys to see what I've actually been up to, aside from side projects.

I present to you:

The 1993 Mack R Bronx New York Police Emergency Service Unit

''Truck Nine''

One of the truck loaded with heroes that responded to the falling towers on the 11th of September 2001. With pictures proving the truck is no more, this seems to me one of the most touching hero trucks of all. The rear seems to be a standard model for the Emergency Service compared to the truck's brothers...

What is it left to do? At naked eye it looks pretty much done, at least the exterior.

Looking at that collage of yours in the first post, I see a cabover truck that looks fairly old. Did they still use them up until 9/11? At a first glance, it seems kinda funny, looking at old trucks being used by modern departments, but then again, "if it aint broke, don't fix it"

NYPD Blue scheme was used til the mid 90's. And the rear ESU back partition started in the 70's and was as well used til the mid 90's.

In photos of 9/11 aftermath there are many 90's NYPD copcars to see.

Funny you ask though, because that's one of the ''conspiracy theories''.

Many claim the government purposely made older units respond to the WTC. Because of their age.

These older blue ESU trucks were still used in the early 2000's after the 9/11 attack.

You're telling me that those conspiracy nuts think that the NYPD was behind 9/11 so they can send their old vehicles in there and collect the insurance money to buy new trucks?

Well, kinda. Not exactly new trucks but since WTC was suffering from financial issues trying to get insurance money. I really don't know what to either think or believe but it will always be devastating.

True that amigo, many unanswered questions. I remember back during the attacks, I lived in Alexandria VA, which was about a few miles from the Pentagon. Even scarier since my dad was working in Arlington at the time, but I'll save that for another day.

Best of luck on the mod, can't wait to see the results :)

I finally gathered motivation to create the spotlights on the truck.

Model needs some slight modifications to make the file size smaller. Other than that, this will be the final product.

I am considering an ELS version as well.

I think that this light bar is appropriate in this track.

This will be a bombshell, definitely one of the most beautiful vehicles ever made for GTA IV.

Two years already since the first WIP screens were shown? Time f*cking flies, man... It's been worth the wait, anyway  :p

Have you thought about doing a FDNY version?

I love the idea for the mod, we should see stuff like that a lot more often!

I think you should add some more dirt and paint/bake some shadows to make it looks less clean so it sits better within the environment, apart from that I really like the model. Hope to see more :)

If I could figure out some way to do that, I would, yeah. So far I've only seen Carface do it decently!
