Whoa this is a sweet find! I'm never able to choose between metallic graphite / cream pearlescent or just the plain matte grey. Let's see what this does :D

OMG, I have been trying to do this forever, I had to use a save editor to do this, then bring it into Online, this is sooooo much better. Does this also work in SP? I'll let y'all know in a bit.

Well since you sometimes get matt pearlescent vehicles either on the streets or when you buy from legendarymotorsports it seems logical that you should be able to create these effects yourself.

I just realize I ran into this by accident myself, but shrugged it off thinking it was an oversight on my part. Good job on the video!

Neat. The pearlescent on chrome seems extremely subtle, and you need to pick a really bright color to even notice it at all. Not what I was expecting. Cool find!

Awesome video!  I was confused on what the Pearlescent stuff even was.  I heard xenorama talk about it in the past but was confused as how he obtained these colors, besides through the save editor which I know you can do this on already.

Thanks!  Gonna check this out and respray some of my cars!

Why is the pearlescent option hidden to begin with?

This. A very good question.

Anyone have any ideas? Should we contact support? Is it a glitch that is keeping the option hidden?

They put the menu option in the game, it should be available.

Not sure if you guys are serious.... Pearlescent refers to the color of metallic flakes in metallic or pearl paint. Metallic or pearl paint is just regular opaque paint with metal flakes in it. Or sometimes a silver metallic base coat with translucent color on top. But that's usually called candy paint. But they are starting to make matte paint with metallic flake in it which is pretty sweet.

Regular paint = regular paint

Metallic paint = regular paint with metallic flake in the paint

That's why the pearl option is only supposed to show up with metallic paint.

Well the menu option exists, but can only be accessed via a glitch, so I'm not sure you understand. Why don't they make it available always, since they wrote the damn code already.
It shouldn't require glitching to access game features.

You obviously haven't done the glitch above to figure out what were talking about before you commented like a fool.

Thanks for this, I decided to finally try it out today and I made a nice "brushed gunmetal" color by using matte black with an ice white pearlescent.

I really like it:

EL63BTs.jpg

Too bad pearlescent doesn't do anything to the chrome, I was hoping for a red-tinted version, but that's not needed.

I also did this with my save editor, but it's so much nicer being able to do it at Los Santos Customs so that I can see the results in front of me right away... However now that I'm thinking about it, the editor allows me to make the pearlescent literally anything, even chrome. Hmm....

I'm also going to see if changing the secondary of the Cheetah in the editor will change the color of the roof. It's not an option at the shop but it might be set that way since I noticed it was set as Metallic Black in the editor.

Updates to follow in a while! Gotta run out right now though.

Nice! I'm going to give this a go tonight. Even though I'm so poor on online I can't afford any decent colours! :(

Hey guys, just to let you know that you dont need to do the convelated process suggested in the video, just select any metallic paint job and go back one menu. The pealescent option should now be available, have been modding all my cars pearlesent tonight *lame* :-) (I can only speak for sp btw)

Black Steel in metals looks great with pearlescent. I made Amanda's Sentinel golden. :D
