Hello guys, I don't really see what's all the child discrimination is about, but I've been heavily insulted for being underaged, and I really think games should not be rated on age, it should be rated on maturity. I am almost 13, but I'm mentally mature enough to play and understand this game. The kids you hear screaming "ni**er" and other popular insults that sound like they are 7 are obviously not mature and should not be playing this game. Hope this topic doesn't get deleted but what do you guys think about kids on this game?

Well, in my opinion it's the majority of kids that behave the way you mentioned. That's what causes the discrimination. Yes, there are some cool cats in the same age group but they are outnumbered. Unfortunately, its the way some aspects of the world work my friend.

I grew up in the 90's playing GTA and I know how much enjoyment it brought so I don't really care about kids playing this game.

They're hilarious for a while but incredibly dim and annoying after a while. The maturity thing is an irrelevance as if you play the game you play it because you understand the game and that it is a game. The mouth pieces are mouth pieces off mic as well (I hear enough of them on the bus day and daily) and only play big because they can. It is an immaturity as you say, but that's just the way of it. If you truly know better you play the game for as as long as you play the game, share the banter if you want and then get on with your life. As for age restrictions they are there to make you aware that there may be disagreeable content and to legally cover r* in case of replication or offence of content in the game.

I don't care about age, really. When I was 10 I went to a chatroom pretending to be 16, and people assumed that I might even be older than 16 because I kept a kind and polite thing.

There's a lot of kids in terms of maturity here, and it just so happens that they're actual kids, that's why. My little brother wanted to play so I gave him 5 things to go by:

1. No killing people for no reason.
2. Avoid everyone at all costs, even if you have to drive 7 miles for it.
3. No, you can't steal a jet from the army.
4. Yes, you can shoot the guy who killed you.
5. Online > Find New Session, FYI.

If you're under 21 you should not be playing this game.. and your parents should be ashamed for buying such a game for you if you're under 15... period. But parents these days are mostly worthless anyway, from what I can tell... it is now Trevor's world...

I've said that same thing since GTA:III - because the game makes being the bad guy... fun.

You also shouldn't be under 21 and watch A Clockwork Orange... a great movie, but not a movie for children's fragile little minds..

+1 for A Clockwork Orange.

About the GTA series I think it's the way a younglings behavior is. If their showing signs of problems the game should not be played. Down with age restrictions, up with full psychological exams before every purchase!

EDIT: of course in that case....many of us older than 21 might not qualify o_O haha.

so me being 20 shouldn't play this game?

LOL dude you should keep in mind that we're in 2014.... everyone can watch porn and snuff videos no matter how old they are

GTA is not bad for someone, it's just a game, and as long someone can distinguish the virtual from the real world, it's ok, and the age for that can vary between every human being...

Bozzah, there is logic in his opinion. If it is not there to influence, it will lessen the outcome.

The debate to that is rights involving limitation.

the game rating system is in place for a reason.. these are games for adults who wanna play with other adults. its a shame parents buy these games for their kids. i am a parent and a gamer and i draw the line with GTA/ saints row for my 11 year old. i cannot stand sh*t talking little kids and would like a few mins alone with parents who let their kids play these games.

You're missing the whole point here, I'm trying to say there is a minority of kids like I, who will not upset you like other kids have obviously done to you.

One word out kid. It isn't a minority of kids playing the game. There is an almost majority of teenagers and under 18's playing. Not being a parent I am a little indifferent, but I have nephews and nieces I wouldn't let near the game. My eldest nephew asked me to play the game and I made him a deal. I said if he was old enough to buy his own copy I'd let him play my copy.

In my opinion, the majority of a holes in GTA V are 15 year old teens. Most of the annoying little kids dont have mics, but the teens are still gonna be annoying little kids (Most of them) WITH a mic

I'm not a parent, but if thats how you do, then you're playing it super safe. Just make sure you're kids know how to not let their virtual minds leak into reality.

I'm just highlighting a reality of life to him. If they want something they have to earn it. It they want it sooner they need to man up and give good reason for why they should get it sooner. If they can't honestly show good reason to have their parent buy it (by being immature in lying and not accepting the reality of the restrictions) then that's more reason not to have it. It usually gets them off the case. If they persist and use the line, my friend has it, then it can be taken they have experience and with discretion and normal (good) behaviour they might get restricted access.

this game has a very twisted view on life in general and can have negative effects on young minds. at least games like call of duty inspire patriotism and military service. just dont think u should play it if u cant but it at the store. sorry young fella.

My nephews both aged 10 play the game, dun blame me I ain't there dad.  But they are respectful they don't swear or say stupid racist things.  Nor do they cry when killed, they just get better at it and learn from where they went wrong.  And I have set their mics on friends and crew only.  And I do go thru the friends list and read messages so some kids do know how to behave.

@ MNTL

To be honest it's the way things were done with me. As a kid I've played games from/with friends, games like Mortal Kombat. There was an immaturity of 'Oh look I'm a big boy now. Ha Ha he used a bad word'. I suppose the fact I could laugh at it, because my parents had corrected me for similar, non-game related incidents of immaturity, that they could trust me to know the difference and work things out for myself with an even mind. I do agree that listening to the responses some parents get on open mic that some kids weren't corrected sternly enough (being blunt some need a good old fashioned school yard dig in the mouth). Parents aren't stupid and are aware of how their kids behave in general and in this it's fair to say the immature kids are going to be that way regardless of whether they ply the game or not. The game just won't help their case but there are things there (or not there) that the game might highlight. The age restrictions are more for highlighting offence and confusing content, not to say you shouldn't be here, just be aware you are here at your own risk and should seek guidance before hand. Think of it as a minimum IQ level. If you don't get the joke, put the game away. ;)

I actually said 25 now that I think about it... it's an arbitrary but approximated (IMO) age for an audience... Just because you kiddies see things doesn't mean you should..
