I have played GTA since 2 and I have seen it evolve from a top down with horribly pixelated graphics to where it sits now. I firmly think that it makes the next evolution into first person. Not as a mandatory camera setting, but at least a option. I personally think it would make the game a lot more exciting and immersive. And the style of first person I'm thinking of is something like what was in Far Cry 3.

What do you guys think?

That's what I was meaning. As an option. The shooting would be better I thinking along with things like skydiving and driving.

Just an option, not more. It wouldn't be GTA anymore! And character customization would make no sense if it's the main angle.

No one said anything about either of those titles. And since this is GTA how come we are not playing in top down birds eye view? I mean you can't change GTA right?

Now if you would of read what I wrote you would see I said as an option. It is something that is already in the game. Somewhat for your vehicles and if you leave your character standing still it switches to first person. I honestly think it would be an awesome option and with products like the Oculus Rift would make it even more so.

I don't care. I love Far Cry 3, it's one of the best games I've ever played on my PS3. But it's still an FPS end of. Makes no difference what he's talking about. GTA has no place in the FPS world, not even as an option.

That's all I have to say.....oh, by the way, you stupid f*ck.

First person would be an okay option.

What I really want back is the option to have it top-down like in GTA 1 & 2!

Never understood why they didn't retain that camera angle, even just as a throwback.

Finally, some common ground. FC3 is amazing.

OT: If it was optional, what the f*ck should I care? I will only and have only ever played GTA in 3rd person. To me, it is the 3rd person archetype. It is the game that I envisage when someone mentions 3rd person gaming.

If people wan't to ruin it and put it in FPS mode, let them do it. But it's missing the point. GTA is about characters that you control, not characters that you inhabit. What I'm saying is, GTA is like playing with dolls, not like playing with possessing people.

But yeah, if people want to put it in FPS mode, let them do it. I'll never even really need to know it's possible. I don't even use the bonnet cam. Just max zoomed in to the back of my car, or max zoomed in to the back of my character. That's as close as I need to get.

How about being Civil To each other? tbh im not a fan of first person Shooters i thought far cry 3 was ok but in General i think they suck i don't think its Necessary  but if they did add the option it would not bother me i just would not use it same as i never use first person Driving view.

If you had asked me this question this time last year, I would've said "take your first person sh*t, and dip it in sulphuric acid before ramming down your urethra", as I f*cking hate fps games with a toxic passion.

But having seen that mod for IV, I gotta admit, it definitely enhances the feeling of immersion being on street level. But I'd only, ONLY accept it if it were an option, as GTA will always be best played in 3rd person.

Tempted to say as an option (similar to how you can switch between POV in Fallout 3/New Vegas), but I only really do that to look around for items to pick up in that case, or to take a look at scenery details. Which I use the Snampatic for in GTA, anyway. But with enough freedom to choose, then I think it could work, yeah. I wouldn't want to play it an an FPS, either, but having the option to just switch to 1st person to, say, take a closer look at something, I don't think there's anything wrong with that.

No. If its an option, whatever, but I wouldn't use it. I've had first person games and I just can't get into them. For those who like them, that's good for you, I don't hate them, I just don't enjoy playing them. They look ridiculous to me, the way weapons bounce around as you run. I think its a terrible attempt at simulating being the character.

I like the way GTA does it. Its like you're watching the characters go about their business. You may control their actions, but you don't feel like you're them. Not to mention the backed off camera gives a better view, in my opinion.

Far Cry 3 was a good first person game, I'm not gonna lie. I don't think a first person view would fit with GTA, though, seeing as it's always been third person and if it switches to first person, many people would think that it's trying to copy Call of Duty, or whatever FPS games are popular on the market.

Plus, if it were in first person, they'd have to put in extra detail for car interiors, guns, etc. details that could be used for missions or the map itself.

FarCry 3 is nice and cool as a First-Person game.
And GTA is a 16-years old open-world franchise.

FarCry will go its own way, GTA will go its own way too.

People getting mad over an optional feature that probably takes little to no time to code.

As an option, yes.

You're able to immerse yourself in the word far better than watching some 3 inch character hop around the place.

I can't say no to bacon and I can't say no to an optional first person view. I'd try it out, but I'm sure I'd still favor the classic 3rd person view more. But a camera angle like this would be fun to mess around with from time to time.

And that's what I mean. As an option. I personally am not a fan of 3rd person view (it won't prevent me from playing games). But I enjoy first person more because it is a lot more immersive for me and not once while driving IRL have I seen it from 10' above/behind the car. Plus I'm not good at chasing the camera angles around.

Another good example of good first person game was Mirrors Edge.

Oh and phuck Fail of Duty.
