Well in the GTA Online trailer, it shows a player breaking the glass of a Cheetah, and then another player attacking him on a motorcycle.   This can be under the assumption that the two players on the motorcycle desired the Cheetah.

Well, we all know that super cars and specific higher-end sports cars are only obtainable legitimately through Legendary Motorsport, but I thought of an idea of how Rockstar should have handled high-end vehicles online.  Obviously, it's too late into online to have this change, but I figured it was still a damn good idea to share.

What if Rockstar made it that you could steal high-end vehicles online, but you really had to work for it?  By this I mean what if they appeared on the map, sort of like Simeon's high import/high export vehicles.  Maybe you could get a call from Lester who notifies all players in the session that a ______ has appeared.  They could show up at the same rate as special crate drops so there would be an even bigger drive for players to obtain these vehicles.  Also, Rockstar could just either remove them from being spawned regularly, or come up with some excuse that Lester managed to find one without a tracker on it.

Now the vehicles could show up in different circumstances.  They of course could either be parked, unattended, or on the move, maybe being protected by a police escort?  Lester could mention that it's being driven by an actor/actress with an escort, so players can become familiar with the different scenarios in case they are beaten to it.

What SHOULDN'T be required though is that it has to be resprayed like the high import/high export vehicles from Simeon, because players just camp outside LSC and blast the driver as they exit.  Since the supers and sports are of course fast, maybe involvement with the police would balance out the experience because if there was no police interference, there might be an issue because pursuers might have a hard time catching up to whoever stole the high-end vehicle.

Just an idea that will sadly never see the light, lol.

I just remembered that the Trailer had a player doing a jack animation for a Cheetah, which would have been impossible at the current state so must have been a Beta build.

Little fix for your idea tho, only the marked special vehicle can be taken. Imagine how bad it would have been if this worked with all cars with the duplicating. Ignoring current mod issues.

Also car probability is tied to their cost. The chances of getting a Comet being like 20%, The chance of getting a Infernus like 5%, The chance of getting a Entity like 0.5%, The chance of getting a Adder or Z-Type like 0.01% and so on.

A little idea I had but never posted that is slightly relevant. High-ends can be stolen, owned and customized normally but not be able to insure it. Just tracker works. Would be nice to be able to try out cars before you buy and to push you to buy if you want instead of having no other choice. I'm just thinking of the Most Mutual caller saying: I'm sorry, this vehicle is already insured by another customer, please come back with the corresponding documents.

Now that I think of that maybe that brings you to a hard assassination mission to kill the car owner for the licence?

Just giving ideas that might fit in with yours :p

Now THAT'S a badass idea :O

Give em' that task, and have them be required to escape at least a 4 star wanted level after killing the target :D

Would have to be hard, difficulty also tied to the price. If not then the value of the car wouldn't matter because everyone would just get the mission instead of buying it. Example, if you steal a Comet, you would have to kill the owner then escape like a 5 minute 3 star. But if its a Z-Type, you would have a 5 star for 15 minutes, with mercenaries on you, attack helicopters that use their rockets, maybe even tanks. All of this on top of the probability I talked about to get it in the first place.

The Z-type would be a trophy in itself!  Would actually make sense since only 10 were made.  Would be cool if those vehicles came with like specific plates, to mark that they were earned through the mission and not in-game money.

It would be fun to blow up kids with Chrome Adders, without insurance.

Huehuehue.

Why in production's infinite wisdom it was decided high end cars cannot be stolen and sold escapes my imagination considering the title of the game. :)

while there are some practical problems to be solved I do think having these timed oppertunities is a good idea

only thing i'm unsure of is whether or not it should be done in free roam

lot of variables there

perhaps a more controlled PvP mission to decide who gets the prize would be better

Good stuff. I still think freeroam should have a lot more activities, particularly ways to make money. Would be awesome if they add anything like this in!
