Vice City is about 3 times the length of V's Grove St. It's tiny.

I think it's a tad bigger than that!

Vice City is basically Vinewood hills, more longer than bigger.

I may be underestimating. I haven't unlocked the theodolite in either game yet. It's only a tad bigger though, not much. You could probably just about get up to top speed in a V-era Buccaneer going straight up the main island.

Hahahha, that beach! And people are complaining about the lack of things to do in V's countryside? Amazing.

How far the series has moved since 2002...

Vice city's map was amazing. Nobody had a problem with it. But people have a problem with V's map size for some reason.

I had a problem with VC's map, in as much as it was, on one island, a straight road with very little else. It never felt like a real city.

Map size is irrelevant compared to other strong points of the game.
Not at all comparing here as others will jump in and readily point out VC v/s V. Such is the human nature.
Anyways, the most attractive things of VC are:
1. Stylish Tommy Vercetti and interesting secondary characters
2. Story. If there is one GTA that shows a true and unique Gangster story then hands down it's got to be this game.
3. Vice City had lots of activities which were perfectly done in number and quality despite the small size of the map.
4. Lastly, what makes Vice City the best GTA was the soundtrack. The radio stations were a big hit.
In short, Vice City had lots of things to do and the experience was a refined and the mood top notch.
Now, coming to your question Vice City has a beautiful map and the comparisons hold no substance against timeless classic.

I'm probably a minority here but I thought GTA Vice City was all hype GTA Vice City Stories was WAYYYY better in my opinion. Compared to Vice City and GTA V. I had more fun in 5 because the online let me play with my homies and GTA with the homies is better than GTA by yourself. My opinion tho, GTA V had a better map and was more fun.

Your point is what? I've had more fun in VC than in V, but only because I played it for a couple of years. V, I've been playing for a few months. In a few more months, I'll have had way more fun than I had in VC, because it isn't as limited as VC.

In a few years time, when Online is massive and rich with features and SP has had several DLCs, review your comment.

Still pretty sure that San Andreas' cities were bigger than Vice City's, unless he's not talking about them all combined and each individual city?

I remember getting lost in VC when that game first came out. It never dawned on me that the map was small. Really the only things I miss from this game are the melee weapons. Bring back my chainsaw and katana.

I remember playing VC, back when I was still for all intents and purposes a kid (actually a teenager, but I hated getting older, guess some things never change :p), enjoying it for years and years. Now playing V I find myself putting every little detail under a microscope. Moral of the story: We're spoiled.

True that, Raavi.

That said, I grew up playing the Atari 2600 and the C64. I'm entitled to my spoiled-ness after years of games with no game in them.

Thats what I was thinking. It felt like quality in 2002, but in 2013 it doesn't even come close to what V offers.

LS in SA is much bigger than VC alone excluding the beaches and whatnot. SA has three big cities, so it beats VC in every way.

Can we get back on topic and start knocking the VC map again? That was fun, way more fun than the VC map, and more fun than comparisons many of us made back when San An was originally released...

You young fellas, so spoiled. Back in my day, we had a brick on string and we had to play it with our faces.

GTA: Brick City was amazing, but sadly not based in New Jersey.
