I hate how people think that just because a new year comes around, all of their problems are just going to magically disappear.

Also when people write 'Haven't had a shower since last year!' or something similar on facebook, I lose my sh*t.

Raining? :D :D :D
In my country it's always the same weather, clear or cloudy sky and temperature around 5-10 degrees.
It's never snowing or raining.

Every friggin year the news broadcastings broadcast the same special reports about:

1. The rehearsal of the New Year celebration in Madrid (a bunch of idiots pretending it's the countdown for the New Year).

2. The operation, maintenance and checking of the clock in Puerta del Sol in Madrid, which is a 'symbol' of the New Year over here.

Yeah the f*cking statuses, I tend to stay out of Facebook's way when the new year hits because I'll be reading:

"Happy new year"

"Happy new year"

"Happy new year"

"Happy new year"

"Happy new year"

"Happy new year"

"Happy new year"

Etc. etc.

The fact that lots of people whom you don't have contact with come to your house just to eat and talk sh*t about others.

And my dad's bad jokes.

How would you invite people to your house if you don't have contact with them? I'm confused

This. Just ... just this.

Come over, eat our food, take over our front room, watch our TV, complain about everything. Just don't expect me to engage on any level.

Of course I'm not the one who invited.

They are usually relatives who have little to no realtion with me or my family. Still, they come over just to enjoy the things that we "have" to offer.

I hear people talking sh*t about others in their back in any moment of the year, not necessarily during this time. It's sad, to be honest...

This never fails to break my heart, though it's certainly not exclusive to New Years.

The same as any other holiday. People who comfortably ignored you during the rest of the year suddenly feel obliged to wish you a "Happy 'whatever'". And, are offended when you don't return the 'blessing'.

This is the best part of the holiday season. I love being really nice to people i'd ordinarily be rude to and I love having them do the same to me.

People making a fuss of it.  It happens every year so it's not as if it's a rare occurence and all it means is you buy a new calander.  There's no need to get excited, it's just another day.

Is it me or do more people today just have a really bland and unexciting mentality?

All the fake ass resolutions people make and the general overhype of the new year. If you were really dead set on a goal then you would have started working towards that goal right away instead of waiting until a specific time to do it.

Honestly, I just feel bad for the regulars at gyms. They must get all these resolutioners all the time this time of year that sign up for a gym membership and only show up for about a week.
