Game of The Year does not mean any thing. Most games are given GOTY only because of the story. I'll be completely honest, TLOU is the San Andreas of this generation. Yes I haven't played it yet but the fanboys are just extremely annoying. Sure it's a good game but now I'm starting to realize that people are only praising the game's story and characters not the gameplay. For example, look at Metacritic:

Read the first few user reviews. Nothing is spoken about gameplay. Plus comparing GTA V with TLOU is like comparing Mario with Call of Duty. Both games are completely different and can't even be compared for GOTY.

I would easily pick Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, hands down.

Payday2 and Retro City Rampage (Just made it into the year on xbox) are also easy competitors.

Though I could see how TLOU would and in a way should win, despite not having played it.

GTAV can f*ck off really, sure it pushed the boundries of what games on current gen can do, but only in terms of size and scale of the map. Multiplayer is a giant scam designed to rid you of your cash (which you need to do ANYTHING) and singleplayer (aside from a few fun missions) was probably the biggest cliché stereotypical story of a game I have ever seen and it sickened me. It did nothing for the gaming industry but make it worse.

I vote for Blood Dragon.

The gameplay of TLoU is good enough.

Sure, it isn't as good as GTA V's, but it does the things it's supposed to just fine. Nothing is badly implemented gameplay-wise in it. There have been little to no glitches in the game for me, but I know people have had game-breaking glitches which could be the reason for the complaints about the gameplay.

Gameplay might be just 'good' (although I don't know why people complain about that so much - the bugs aren't that common), but other parts of the game such as the story, characters etc. are stellar in my opinion.

What is this, the f*ckin' retard thread?

I better join in then.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 is best game,

Metacritic:
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2: 9.8
GTA V: 9.7
The Last of Us: 9.5
Fallout 3: 9.1

So this proves that GTA V is not best game, or something.

GTA IV is also 9.8 so I guess it's a draw.

The Legend of  Zelda: Ocarina of Time is the highest rated game on metacritic with a score of 99. It was released in 1998 for the Nintendo 64.

No, because GTA IV has the lowest score of 8.7 and Tony Hawk's lowest review is a 9.0.

Besides Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 has a higher user score than GTA IV.

Zelda doesn't count, because it's a game on Nintendo.

Well why not? It's still a video game and that is what matters.

And GTA IV has a higher user score than Tony Hawk. Also metacritic user reviews should really not be trusted for any game. There are trolls on there who give the game a zero for no reason at all. Even 1 zero is enough to bring the score down.

On PC, I'd say Arma 3 was the best game of 2013 - if there isn't an Arma 4 for 10 years that will still be being played - there just aren't other shooter games with that level of realism AND a fully functional editor.

GTA V seems to me to be best on consoles - not that I've played many others.

As you can tell - I prefer open-world

Any of you played SC Blacklist? I really enjoyed it, don't know why everyone says it isn't good. No Ironside was a shame, but still.
