Gone for Liberty City. IV's portrayal is still to this day one of my favourite settings in the gaming industry. It was just so alive and atmospheric. And not just visually. Things like the LCPD database and talk of The Commission just seemed to add so much depth. Just the idea that there were so many dodgy characters inhabiting the city was awesome, even if you don't ever meet 90% of them.

Alderney. Gotta love the industrial landscape as well as the smaller town and suburbs feel some parts had.

(I haven't played GTA V yet)

Alderney was pretty great, it achieved a lot for its size and proximity to Liberty City. Every nook and cranny was nearly perfect for some type of combat, and the atmosphere in the central and lower parts of the city was nice.

Vice City was also cool too, but I didn't spend much time with the game. :/

Liberty city in IV I like the urban setting plus R* gave every neighborhood a different identity you could be hanging out with Eastern Europeans in Broker or with Dominicans in Bohan the homies at the firefly projects and on the corners of northwood. Not only that the city feels alive people going about their business taking a walk in middle park riding the train I actually saw a cop buying a newspaper from a vender. Then late at night in the alleyways it makes you feel like your about to get stabbed. R* managed to create a concrete jungle

A tie betwen Vice City and HD Los Santos. HD Liberty City is great, but New York is the single most overused setting for anything.

Torn between HD LS and LC.

I love both, but if we're purely talking about my first time playing both...

Liberty city impressed more, i dropped my jaw.

Not to say LS isn't an amazing city.

Your point about LC is how I felt about LS. LA is so overused as a setting in all forms of media, it didn't feel fresh to me at all.

Liberty City - I feel that in both renditions it really lives up to its title of 'The Worst Place in America'.

I wil put it simple,The HD Era Rendition of Liberty City (GTA 4) and San Andreas (GTA 5) are the most realistic and beautiful reimaginations in the series to date

1st Place goes to Vice City, I think. Specifically the VCS rendition, even if they are technically the same (but the VCS version feels more tropical and has some new stuff). But Liberty City from IV is a close second. It just felt so...cold. LS from V would be on here, because I think it looks aesthetically pleasing, but the reason it isn't is because I, for some reason, have such a difficult time navigating the streets. Normally by the halfway point in any GTA game I can go through the city without needing the map. But in V, I was heavily dependent on the GPS throughout the whole thing.

fun fact: according to gta wikia San Fierro is the smallest city in the 3D era whereas Davis is the smallest in the HD era, woah.

to the OP: i don't have a favorite city, all of them are awesome, and fit gta in a different way for example liberty city fits the story of a cold gta full of mobsters, killers, thieves, etc,   vice city is like the holiday setting for a gta, and san andreas is for a sunny yet dark setting

HD and GTA III LCs followed closely by VC. Both renditions of LS don't really do much for me. Infact I just find LA overrated.

IMO NYC is the perfect location for a GTA game which is why it's superior in everyway.

I got to agree with GTA IV Liberty City being the perfect place. Just wish there was a bit more color in the city.

VC? How did you find flat land maps and a huge waste of space beach great? Just want to know.

I agree that the huge beach is one of VC's drawbacks, but despite its small size it's always had a certain charm about it I've always enjoyed. From the derelicts of Little Havana/Little Haiti all the way to Ocean Beach. It's just a great city IMO.

1. Los Santos (V): Don't kill me please! I love LS because it's live and breathing. It's done nice.

2. Liberty City (IV): A dark city that could be vibrant (TBoGT)!

3. San Fierro (SA): In fact it was a poorly done city, it's just here because i like the building and streets style.

4. Vice City (VC): It was a little yet cozy city. Lovely

5. Los Santos (SA): It was designed and made purely nice.

6. Las Venturas (SA): Casinos, lights, desert... Fell in love with it.

7. Liberty City (III): I'm so nostalgic about it but They made it smaller than what it should be... Miami and New York aren't the same size, you know :/

8. Anywhere (2): First, Best and probably last futuristic setting of GTA.

9. Ghost Town (SA): It's nothing, but it's yet more exciting than britain

10. Manchester (London 61): Nothing special about the city

11. London (London games): Boooooring.
