I've heard that a couple of people are
wanting to get past a mission
on iOS but can't because of either...
Glitch
Can't Do It

or coz they can't be bothered!

Thanks for sharing your save. I've started documenting some of the structure of the file. Notes can be found here. If I make a few tweaks to the save can you test them for me?

 

Also, how many save slots do you get for SA on iOS? I see saves 1, 9, and 10 (GTASAsf#.b). What are the differences between these files? Do you have any idea why save 10 is almost twice the size of the other .b files?

 

How did you get max money and ammo?

 

Has anyone other than the TC been able to get these files to work on their mobile device?

Hex Edited iOS Save for San Andreas (modified version of 03sevensmi's save, I hope this is okay)

* This is a google docs download so use whatever privacy settings you feel necessary.

 

These edits are simple tests of most of the major structures in the save file; something safe I could tweak without a lot of calculations. I hope I didn't try to do too much at once. I'm just trying to get a grip on some major changes to the save structures. Any feedback would be appreciated.

 

max wanted level = 0. This will soon be reset by missions.
free resprays = 1. Also reset by an early mission.
BMX in whichever garage is now an NRG.
NRG in garage is fully immune.
Garage for Life's a Beach is a 'girlfriend' PnS, until the mission.
Don't lose weapons when wasted. (GF Bonus)
Sniper rifle on hill over SFX is now a jetpack. (Sorry, it's the first pickup.)
Ballas armed with Flowers and Canes.
East LS Clover is now a Swat Van (forced spawn, player owned).

^Use the Swat to break the smash wall at Smoke's Crack Palace.
Sweet's car has Seahawks plates.
Infinite Run/Not Fireproof.
Max Armor = 200
Barriers to LV removed, but not between LS and SF.
Big hole at YKBB factory.
Floor behind smash wall at Smoke's Palace.
All clothing in wardrobe (all stores not enabled yet).
Gang wars enabled (but not stats yet).
Dillimore PD connects to unused SFPD interior.

 

I'm looking for a save with either pimping or taxi completed.

 

Ooh... a Resume save. That might be fun to play with.

gta_sa.set, Adjustable.cfg and the gtasatelem.set Files

With The Modified Save!

 

As long as we close all background apps during overwriting the files And

Reboot when finished, This should work no problem.

 

I'm Going To Help Include My Own Progress Of The Game

Using The Unmodified Save With 

The Mod Garage, Clothes Shop, Barbers, Food And Gun Shops Unlocked!

That Should Help Make The Modified Save Better When Rolling

Through LV Wanting To To Stuff!

Thanks, but does the modified save even load for other people? I have no way to test the changes. I need to know what's working or not before I can consider any large scale and advantageous edits.

 

Why do you think gta_sa.set and Adjustable.cfg are important? I'm hoping people will be able to share saves with the GTASnP.com service. Including multiple files to get one save to work would certainly complicate matters considerably.

Just tested the modded save and it works just fine. :) 
I tested it on a iPhone 4S and iPad2, both are jailbroken 6.1.2.

Thanks again for the save, 03stevensmi. Samutz has updated the server at http://gtasnp.com/ to accept iOS save files. Resume saves are currently not supported. GTASnP - GTA Save N Play upload/download service is a quick and easy way to trade saves. I've been using it for PC and PS2 saves for years. Saves usually last 30 days unless a special request is made.

 

Thanks for the feedback, HeliPilot. Beyond just getting the save to load, can you confirm if any of the specific edits worked or didn't work as expected. I've made a lot of educated guesses. There are many changes to the save format - I'm still a bit lost and trying to find a few anchors so I can start locating everything else.

 

But then again, this probably isn't the place for this discussion. And since I have no way to test any modifications myself I won't be able to make much progress anyway. So for now I think I'll put this project on hold. If someone has a serious interest in modifying their iOS saves and can test each edit line by line, then perhaps we can continue this investigation in it's own modding topic.

Yes, everything you edited works. Also, SF is opened up along with LV.

It shouldn't be too difficult to fix the Basketball Glitch with a hex editor if the glitch works the same way as before. Please post your save to gtasnp.com so I can take a look at it. It might take a while to track this down; I haven't looked at the global variables on an iOS save yet.

 

However, if I'm reading the other reports of the Basketball Glitch on iOS correctly, a lot of people are having this problem long before the Home in the Hills mission that unlocks Madd Dogg's Crib for saving for the first time. On other systems, saving at Madd Dogg's Crib or using a save anywhere type mod near a basketball court with an active basketball are the only ways to get the Basketball Glitch. I'm wondering if auto-saving (does it do that?) or resume saving by a basketball court might be introducing the glitch early.

 

And for the record, your basketballs used to spawn after the appropriate story mission but then they stopped, correct? Have you saved at Madd Dogg's Crib? Can you think of a situation where the game could have been saved or resumed near a basketball court?

 

Updated: According to my calculations, the save you uploaded previously had the Basketball Glitch. See if this save is any better. And if the basketballs work, see if you can glitch them again with a resume (or auto) save near a basketball court.

Here's the file, no I haven't reached Madd Dogg's house yet as I am still doing Las Venturas. I noticed basketballs stopped spawning right after leaving Los Santos to go the country

Ok I can confirm, resuming on a basketball court kills all the balls from spawning again

Can you confirm a prediction for me?: If you resume save near an active pool player then pool players will never spawn again. If you can confirm this glitch then please provide a link to the save. I'd like to test a fix.

 

A related, unconfirmed and unimportant glitch: Saving in a casino with a roulette wheel might glitch away the 'valet' spectator that sometimes watches the action. The valet spectator (guy with red vest) may or may not need to be active for the glitch to work. I have been unable to identify any variables that might be responsible for this unconfirmed glitch. I made the observations myself. I'm a little worried about some of the random spectators that visit other machines, but the Wheel O Fortune and Blackjack dealers should not be influenced by saving.

Wow this is bad, auto resuming should be disabled as this breaks all the minigames, here's the save with the pool game not working at all after resuming

I wouldn't worry about the other mini-games and resuming. The valet and random spectators, even if they do get glitched, don't make any difference.

 

Also, if you wouldn't mind, please check if the taxis have nitro on this repaired pool save. I think I enabled the bonus based on what I learned from the prostitutes-pay-CJ setting from the pimping mission.

Just tested the save, and yes I can confirm that there are nitros and hydraulics in the taxi's and the pool person is back in the bar!

 

Hey I was wondering if you can also add gang warfare to the save too? Kinda tired of missions lol

Yes, for you I'll enable gang wars since you helped out so much with the glitch testing. But send me a link to your good save. The one with the taxi nitro enabled might be a problem; if you complete the mission of 50 fares the nitro bonus is liable to go away. I suppose I could just turn it off if you've made progress on that save.

Here's a good save without taxi nitro, see if you can enable gang wars, collecting property money, and maybe unlock Madd Dog's crib (I promise I won't save there, i just want to shoot hoops there lol). If you can't, then just gang wars is fine

Okay, I'm on it. I'll also try to move Madd Dogg's save disk so it's safe to save in his crib. Or maybe not, I forgot how touch it is to navigate the global array for the pickup variables.

 

What do you mean by "collecting property money"?

I think in front of CJ's mom's house money accumulates there when you control territory, but's it's locked off right now

Oh, the Grove Asset. I'd better not mess with that. Besides being a fairly complicated process, there's a pretty good chance that it won't work right. There are special scripts that control that asset and I don't know enough about them to "unlock" it without breaking anything. However, it should get created normally whenever you get to that part of the story - not too long really.

 

Dam and Blast: See how this save works for you. Gang wars should be enabled, and IIRC, gang war stats are still enabled from before.  Both doors in to and out of Madd Dogg's Crib should be unlocked. I didn't try to move the disk.

Awesome this works thanks again! I noticed though that I can't recruit gang members, it must be the respect system being disabled. I guess I'll just progress through the rest of the story until it unlocks normally

Oh no, I'm too late. Below is a link to the same save as above, except I tried to move Madd Dogg's save disk to the... Library, or first room on the left as you head into the mansion on the upper floor. This location should be far enough away from the basketball court that the glitch shouldn't occur. It worked on PC and PS2, but it hasn't been tested on iOS.

Note: I think the normal save routine will move the disk pickup to the new location. Otherwise, you might need to touch another save disk, or toggle an R3 mission or something to actually finish the move.

 

And I'm not sure how the recruitment thing works or how to tweak it, sorry.

I can confirm save point moved to first room on the left at Madd Dog's. Interesting though no save point appears on the map, probably due to the game thinking the house is still locked up

Oh, yeah. I don't want to mess with the icons. It might be possible to place it and let the mission delete it and recreate it again - it depends on the mission. It'll get placed with the Home in the Hills mission, but it should get the new coordinates over the library, I think.

 

For the record, please test this new save location against the basketball glitch. The max distance from player might be different on iOS. The basketball stands the best chance of remaining in memory if CJ looks towards the ball (west and down a little) when moving from the old disk location near the ball towards the new location.
