sorry if this has been already made. since the search feature doesn't want to work at ALL.

anyways what's the stuff you hate and/or dislike in IV?

mine GOTTA BE the boaty handling :sui:

I'm not gonna blame the graphics. since its like the second game that uses the RAGE engine (as how I heard) but the damn gloom effect sometimes will kill my eyes :turn:

also, the combat system. since I get the game, I have no single clue how to make melee combat :sui: but I might start training on it more. :)

say yours.

The lack of car modification. I don't see why, even at that early stage in the console cycle, Rockstar couldn't have put it into IV. It's not like it's as overly complex as weight, muscle, etc

I really did not like the fact that there were no convenience stores to enter (and rob), hardly any crime in the streets not involving the player, and hardly any buses on the streets.

I loved the driving but hated the body roll. Seriously, it affected how I would drive, even though I knew I could make a corner, the way the car would roll made me feel it was about to flip over. But now we hardly have any body roll in V so .. its one way or another.

Stupid AI drivers that are too impatient to wait behind me when I stop at a red light. And yes, I sometimes obey traffic laws :) Or the fact that they still can't slow down on highways until it's too late. Also, when a car suddenly stops in front of me because of hookers!

Other than that, I love the behavior of AI drivers.

I also hate that there's no safehouse in Broker or Dukes after the fire in Roman's apartment. I have to drive all the way to Bohan or Algonquin to save my game which sucks...

I don't like the fact that you never get more than 3 or 4 different vehicles spawning at the same time.

I dislike that there's not many things to do, but the game is awesome nonetheless.

I used to hate this game but when V came out I started to appreciate more IV.

no radio shortcuts . this is very annoying to have to tweak your radio each time you enter a car . there are shortcuts for weapons that i never used even once and no shortcuts for radios .. that's all for what we can tell hating . apart from that there's another little thing that i don't like much , it's that when you are with your buddy you can enter some restaurants , and when you are alone you can't enter them . going to eat/drink is one of the things i love the most in GTA

Boaty handling? Mate don't drive often, do ya?

Missed opportunity with interiors
No car modification
Great physics for offroading yet there are only a few good places to do some climbing
Repetitive clouds in the sky 24/7
Gangs were detailed but could've been more threatening
Needed more luxury cars to have a good car balance
Looking around NY, so many good buildings were added but some really good looking buildings never made it in, that irks a guy like me who loves architecture
Cars should've sounded a little better and sense of speed should've been better
Content that was pushed back from vanilla IV
Lack of moderation towards modders in MP
Needed garages and should've inherited Pegorino's house
Why can't we buy cars
Spawning system is so loose feeling
Should be able to buy any clothes any male NPC can wear
Needed more restaurants and bars and stores
Some areas did indeed feel dead

THINGS I DISLIKE:

  • The friendship/dating system
  • The awful vehicle variety
  • Terrible and unrealistic vehicle spawning (the Police Maverick doesn't even spawn at the police station like previous games)
  • No planes
  • No customization
  • Very few clothing options
  • Only 4 helicopters (and one is almost impossible to obtain)
  • Bowling
  • Pool
  • The in-game TV shows off stuff you want to do but can't
  • Not many unique missions
  • No countryside
  • Weapon variety is below the bare minimums

THINGS I LIKE (seeing though I am seen as a GTA IV hater, I will post this because I don't hate the game):

  • Setting (New York may be overused but it is great in GTA IV), although I like GTA V's setting more
  • Story
  • Lots of interiors, the most featured in a GTA game yet
  • Even though there are not many unique missions and missions are repetitive, they are still enjoyable
  • Three Leaf Clover, although I enjoyed GTA V's heists more
  • GTA IV was great in it's own right, it was just a terrible GTA

-Flying rats.
-Lack of car customising.

Those have always been my two biggest gripes with GTA IV, but other than that it will always be the best gta to me.

So I can have gripes about this game and not get flamed, but if I list my gripes about V I will? Just noticed that, shows how immature that other section is.

Far too many generalisations in the V section, it's almost hilarious.

If you find that almost hilarious, seek help. Some advice: shut up and make observations of the V section. List some common valid complaints about V and see what replies you get. Some will agree, some will see your point, a lot will say something negative in turn to you or make up ludicrous justifications. You must not be a normal user around there. I've been in that section for almost two years so I know how it acts at times.

Not much really. Probably just the flying rats (still haven't 100% IV because of em), putting the phone away when getting shot, and police cars spawning ahead of you when you're trying to escape.

I think you misunderstood my point haha, I was trying to say that a lot of people in the V section say things like "you critisise the game? you must not like it, you're wrong get out" then proceed to circlejerk one another.

The lack of things in Broker, Bohan and especially Dukes.

I feel like the game really stressed you to be in either Algonquin or Alderney instead of in the other 3 boroughs. Lets take Beechwood City as an example; it's got a car wash, a cafe to play pool in and... nothing else. Not even a train station, really. Now AFAIK, there's so many different neighborhoods around that area and R* made it very small.

There are casinos (I don't know if it was pre-2008 though), strip clubs, one giant park, a large beach and a horse racetrack all in the area near Beechwood City. I think if R* put a new safehouse near Francis International Airport, they would have made the map a lot less concentrated in one area.

Another thing that bugs me is the train. Why cant we stand inside the train and look 3rd person instead of being forced into the train camera's viewpoint? I understand if it was to prevent idiots from making videos of 'gta IV massive train massacure hue hue hue' or something like that, but you can hijack a train in TBoGT and IMO that is just as bad.

TL;DR - A lot of the real city was cut and the trains suck.

I loved the driving but hated the body roll. It looked ridiculous, at least it was tuned in TBOGT.

I don't think there are things I hate as I love this game as a whole. Sure they always could add something more, but IV is almost perfect as it is.

Another thing I did not like about GTA IV was that I felt that Broker, Dukes and Alderney should have been bigger. Especially Broker, as it was the best and most interesting part of Liberty City. I also think there should have been more suburban areas, especially in Alderney and Dukes.

I just wanted an option to buy permanently-spawning cars and houses. All I needed was a house near Meadows Park and a mansion in Westdyke.

There's nothing that I really hate about this game. I love it. I just wish Niko could fight better. :)   Since Hove Beach is my favorite place in Liberty City, a safehouse there would have been great.  Roman's apartment could have still burned but maybe later after the heat calmed down, Niko could have found somewhere to live.

Agreed for the most part. Only specific cars in vanilla IV to me had excessively unrealistic body roll including my all time favorite sadly, the Super GT.
