i started playing all the GTA's after the second one where i started but here is my list from Best to Worst.

GTA V (Gameplay, Online, Graphics, i geniunely had the most fun of all the GTA's playing with my friends in Los Santos blowing stuff up)

GTA San Andreas (Best soundtrack of all the GTA's in my opinion, huge map at the time, funny dialogue, gang warfare)

GTA Vice City (Music, badass main character, Lance Vance Dance, pretty map at the time)

GTA IV (includes the DLC's too, basic af multiplayer, great story, great graphics, Biggest advancements in the mechanics since GTA III)

GTA Vice City Stories (Victor Vance was cool imo, great music, Lance Vance Dance on the go)

GTA Chinatown Wars (weak main character, cop system was great, Liberty City on the Go.)

GTA III (Really Basic for a GTA game, music was okay, i the first time i drove a Rhino tank on the PS2...oh lawd...legendary title.)

GTA Liberty City Stories (same map as GTA III but character couldn't get into that mafioso vibe heavily)

GTA 2 (Got me hooked but after 2 months i stopped caring until GTA III)

GTA Advance (don't touch that piece of sh*t)

I consider it the best GTA yet:

  1. GTA V - Combination of the best things from the series.
  2. GTA San Andreas - A huge amount of content, and most of it is great.
  3. GTA Vice City/GTA Vice City Stories - Just all around great games.
  4. GTA IV/EFLC - While still great in it's own right, but GTA IV feels stripped down in comparison to it's predecessors.
  5. GTA III/Liberty Cit Stories - Still great games, I just prefer the others more.

I'm leaving GTA 1, GTA London 1961, GTA London 1969, GTA 2, GTA Advance and GTA Chinatown Wars out for fairness.

Probably fourth best imo. IV > III > VC > V

V is first for me. It's great, I haven't played another game since it came out. I was never really into online until this, it's added a whole new level to GTA.

Can't see me putting it down anytime soon whereas with the rest of the series I'd get bored shortly after the story.

It ranks 4th behind,

GTA Vice City

GTA3

Ballad of Gay Tony (EFLC)

GTA5 was ok-ish, but not groundbreaking or fun.

With previous GTA's I played them non-stop but with V I'm bored of it and find myself playing other games instead. However the recent CC release has got me playing again but that won't last much longer either.

GTA III is my favourite. It set the template for every game that followed and the series hasn't progressed that far beyond it in terms of mission structure. It's pure in a way that I love and allows for a lot of creative solutions to objectives by being less scripted than its sequels.

San Andreas is second, for being the most ambitious game in the series and having the biggest a breadth of content and activities. It's got problems (runs like sh*t on the PS2, LV is almost completely empty) but its a real gamble on their part, throwing in anything they could think of.

I would put V third. It's got great vehicle physics and handling, and the gunplay is the best in the series. It's pretty big but I love how beautifully detailed it is, the distinctive feel of each area is amazing. It suffers from having overly rigid missions and a horribly unbalanced economy, but the economy is clearly a response to feedback about there being nothing to buy with your money in IV. I like that they've reduced the volume of f*cking cutscenes compared to IV, but there's still too many f*cking cutscenes and too much faux Hollywood sh*t story because they think they're making a film.

Vice City is fourth, just for the music.

The original game is fifth, for the joy it gave me.

GTA IV is sixth. Boring game, holding your hand and forcing you to do boring sh*t every step of the way. Millions of awful, boring cutscenes and mountains of dull story. After it finally opens up it forces you into endless sh*tty minigames to unlock stuff from your friends, like they took the worst stuff from San Andreas and just ran with it. A massive disappointment after SA, with barely any ambition.

Last is GTA2. It was too hard for me to finish as a kid and I never went back to it.

Liberty City Stories

For me it's like this :

1) GTA : Vice City
2) GTA : San Andreas
3) GTA IV + EFLC
4) GTA III
5) GTA V *

* Note : GTA V is last on my list, but I still think it's a very good game and I had some great moments.

I did not play GTAs 1, 2, London Edition, Liberty City Stories, Vice City Stories, and Chinatown Wars.

For me it's like:

1.) GTA IV

2.) GTA V

3.) GTA: San Andreas

4.) GTA: Vice City

It was tough pick between IV and V, but I like IV's story more than V's story.

1. VC

2. SA

3. IV

4. V

This list may be changed in future since i started to love that game more and more, and i'm trying to assess it without nostalgia view. This list is made with nostlagia's role.

1. GTA IV+ episodes

2. GTA V

3. GTA San Andreas

4. GTA Vice City

5. GTA Vice City Stories

III and LCS I don't like at all ( because of the protagonists, the side characters were actually good)

Hmm.. I don't think I can rank the early games, even though I've played them all, just because it's been so long.

So I'll have to say IV, Vice City, SA, and then V.

1. San Andreas   (it just had more 'fun' factor I think, coutless drunken hours seeing what vehicle we could drive to the top of Chiliad... ahhhh... remembering stuff...)

2. GTA V   (still think this is a close call between the 2, but I think for now its in 2nd)

3. GTA VC

4. GTA IV

5. GTA 3

6. GTA 2 and London

Didn't really play GTA 1 very much..l. defenitely didn't progress through it, just ran around going "what is this awesome game" on my mates PC.

1.VC

2.V and San Andreas tied. Can't decide which one is better.

3.IV and the episodes

4.III

III is still a great game but R has improved on the formula many times so it is a little lower.

I would really put VC, SA and V as tied but I wanted pick one as my favorite.
