1.63GB only? Seems fishy.

I have watched the video briefly, I noticed:

- Separate fingers!

- New dynamic vehicle reflections, not based on a static texture from vehicle.txd as before.

- No alpha bug on vegetation + new vegetation.

- Shadows look like on PC.

- New timecycle?

- Illumination from PS2 timecycle seems to be enabled.

- Icons showing hairstyles before you apply them...cool!

No trailer, no screens, no release date and not even a peep from Rockstar -- yet it is the actual game. A pretty bizarre release by Rockstar standards. Hopefully Android and Windows Phone doesn't get kicked down the road, though I'm definitely not holding my breath as I don't want to die just yet.

The audio was probably very highly compressed, given the fact that's what takes the most space.

Too bad I got to wait. I can get it on the web site on my computer, but I'll need iTunes. I don't want iTunes anywhere near my computer. I use other programs to take care of Music, and I use the iTunes on my iPod to take care of apps and videos.

 

Last time I used iTunes on a new computer, it automatically wiped my whole iPod, and I found that all my music was replaced by GTA Vice City audio files. It also slows down my computer. I'll just wait a few hours more so I don't have to deal with sh*tty iTunes.

On my iPad Touch 5 only CO has a dynamic shadow. The vehicle reflections are like on PC. I'll get it for my Galaxy S4.

Android and Windows Phone versions out next week. iOS version also supports a number of controllers.

There is no reflection or dynamic shadow on PC; the shadows are rather light.

I just made a screenshot of in-game on PC - settings on maximum and without mods of course - http://i.imgur.com/I3OzJc2.jpg

 

There is no reflection at all, only on PS2 shows some kind of low res shine but definitely no reflection.

The mobile version looks much better but remember the general textures are probably down scaled to half of its original size, for example if the texture on PC is 128x128, it will be down-scaled to 64 x 64 or even 32 x 32, and as someone said that possibly audio has been compressed. That is why it is 1.63GB ;)

 

Just got to wait a few more days for Android!

You know i am not actually a conspiracy theorist believer normally but isnt it weird that Rockstar chose again to release something on IOS first just like they did with the Ifruit app although that one lasted even longer exclusively and i think GTA VC was released first on IOS as well so something is fishy around here .

I've analyzed the .ipa of SA from App Store. I noticed some things:

- All audio are 22050Hz VBR compressed mp3 files, zipped inside osw files, which are easily opened in WinRAR. There's a idx file besides every audio archive, which lists all the files, and something else. The quality of the audio is not that bad.

- The textures are stored in the same way (or very similar) as they did on III and VC mobile.

- There's an interesting file called: colorcycle.dat. It doesn't have any comments, and it only has a bunch of numbers. Maybe its an addendum to the timecyc.dat, giving more variety of the colors in the game?

- The timecyc.dat file is the same as in the PC version.

Chances are the colorcycle.dat is in binary. I doubt its even used by the game, but if it is, someone should convert it. :p

I noticed on the gameplay video, that the blue sky is much cleaner, and doesn't have as much greenish tint like on the PC version, so this file make this possible?

Seems like it's that fancy color palette that R* mentioned, gradients look a lot nicer.

I got it for my iPad Mini(1st gen) runs great which is surprising as the Mini sucks. Can't wait to try this on my Nexus 4 when it drops on Android.

Wow 22050Hz is awfully bad. Most CDs have 44100Hz sampling-rate and they are not considered as HD. IV's 32000Hz radio sounds worse than FM radio.

Looks like it's also coming to Windows RT and Windows 8 Modern UI at some point according to the ESRB.
