a man in China has killed himself after being unable to put up with his girlfriend's Xmas shopping spree for any longer.

apparently they had only been shopping for 5 straight hours. what a pussy. I could have held out for at least 12 hours :santa:

I'm actually just kinda' jealous that China has shopping malls which are 7 stories high.

in the US we only have one mall that big and it's goddamn Mall of America.

they're kicking our ass at consumerism.

The mall of America is like 3 stories or maybe 4.

never been there.

all I know is that most of the malls I shop at are nowhere near tall enough to jump from.

I mean, you can jump, but you'll just be stuck with a huge hospital bill.

This was bound to happen sooner or later.

I've had urges to shove a live duck up my rectum everytime my grandma takes me out to go clothes shopping for school.

I remember the last time I went shopping with a woman. I was 15, went to the mall with my mother and sister. Waited 6 hours for them to get off f*ckin' JCPenny. They didn't end up buying anything. Waited 2 more hours for them to go through another clothing store. I NEVER went to the store with either of them since.

Yeah I was in freakin Guatemala and they had a huge ass mall too. Also in Bogota Colombia there was this mall I went to, Andino, which was pretty big too.

Yeah, saw this on FB yesterday. Gives a whole new meaning to 'shop until you drop', doesn't it?

We should all know there is likely more to this story that just this argument they had. I actually kinda feel bad for this guy to be honest. I remember when my family would go to the mall and I would be stuck there while my sisters had shopped for useless BS. Being trapped in that environment for extended periods of time can really mess with your head. Especially if you have some social anxieties or something. I hated being stuck in a mall for 8 hours with my family and I literally felt as if I were gonna lose my mind. I think it strains the mind when you are in an enclosed area with a lot of people which triggers a fight or flight response thus putting yourself at a heightened " State of Awareness " and your brain considers all a possible threat. This specific case actually leads me to believe that there is a third part of fight or flight and that would be the " Goodnight " reaction. Where you body feels that in a situation where there is seemingly no escape you have to end your life prematurely.

TL:DR I feel for ya bro.

Do you idiots honestly think he killed himself because of Christmas shopping? He was likely mentally unstable and he just happened to reach the end of his tether whilst there.

Oh my, tragedy has never been more funy.

Almost as funny as your god-awful spelling.

Mental issues or no, committing suicide in a crowded place where there are children and families and, in general, anyone halfway sensitive, is indefensible.

One may say that the act has an intrinsic selfishness to it, yet there are ways to kill oneself that minimize the suffering of those who discover your body. I have considered this a lot and think that there is are definitely ways to kill yourself and reduce the amount of people who will be traumatised by your actions.

I understand why he did it, because when you suffer from these issues - suicide is a default setting, the thoughts never go away and you seriously begin considering it as a response to trivial, meaningless things.

Yet I maintain he did it in the wrong way. I hope those who saw it can get over what he did to them.

This is a part of atheist war on Christmas. You know it, I know it and Bill O'Riley knows it.

Or he was planning for a dramatic escape and it went horribly wrong.

I know exactly how he feels (shopping with gf-wise, not dead-wise). I'd be standing outside the shop, in the mall space waiting, and she'd come out, "Come in and look at this!". So I'd go into the shop, and she'd just start leafing through the garments again, totally ignoring me. "I thought you wanted to show me something.".

"Look!" she would say, pulling a dress/blouse/whatever off the rack and thrusting it in my face. "But you've only just seen that yourself !?!" Aaaargh!! You got me!

They go into some kind of hypnotic trance, or open-eyed REM phase of sleep. It's like a drug or hormone rush that us guys will never feel - or understand.

There must have been underlying problems, I doubt someone would kill themselves just because of that. If his girlfriend was such an annoyance he should have left her and found a different girl, but taking his own life? That's insane.

Personally I believe this was either a cry for help gone wrong or that he had serious underlying mental issues. I've read a couple of articles on this story and in each of them it focuses solely on him killing himself because he was exasperated with his girlfriend. She must be feeling terrible now. Poor woman.

This is tragic, that he thought there was no other options I hope this opens everyone's eyes and you stop and think if you see someone that looks like they are having a bad day, going through a rough point in their life I you do see someone Talk to them you would be surprised how much better some of these people will feel of course do not put your self into danger...if you are thinking of killing yourself get some help. or if someone that you know is thinking of commuting suicide get them some help

What the f*ck man, the ultimatum he decided upon was during a freaking shopping spree?! I doubt that's what put him over the edge. I'm sure he was undergoing some mortality issues with himself and the world in which he lived in. But, kudos to him, another man with the balls to take himself out. If we were all so lucky to have that ability.

I wouldn't handle 2 hours, but come on.. suicide? I know that Asians are dramatic, but this is ridiculous. If this crazy christmas shopping spree will come to haunt me, I'd either dump the bitch or go home.
