Local Disk (C:).

I don't see the point in naming it, except maybe if you have multiple partitions\drives and you can't figure out which is which (for some reason). I only name flash memory (SD cards) to distinguish between them if I insert multiple ones at the same time.

They've all got cute little personalities too!

  • OS+MEDIA (Or Mrs. C as I like to refer to her) is a bit of a busybody, but she's experienced enough not to get into so much that she can't handle anything. She's having a romantic relationship with Superior Optical Drive (Drive E), but Drive E is a little young for her, so they keep it quiet.
  • Dr. Recovery (his formal name is RECOVERY) is a little jealous of the love Superior Optical Drive gets, and nobody ever goes to him for much, but he remembers a time when OS+MEDIA was different, a time when she loved him instead of Superior Optical Drive. The worst thing is that he had to do the job of wiping her by himself, poor guy.
  • System is a visitor. I'm not sure where it came from, or when it came, but it's here. mn9Leri.jpg
  • Superior Optical Drive (E:) is probably the second oldest, but still pretty young. He's good at what he does, and he doesn't complain, so I like him well enough.
  • (I'm also not sure about (F:). I don't have anything here on my desk that could be (F:); but he/she doesn't seem to be harmful, so they can stay.
  • PORTBLEsh*t is portable sh*t. Programs that I used on my school's computers when the IT manager was too incompetent to block unapproved programs. He's retired mostly, but he does malware removal for family when needed.
  • The CloneDrives are for playing around with Playstation isos since it's very difficult to extract the content of Playstation disks onto most computers (something about error analysis code in each sector, or maybe some type of file that just doesn't extract right, maybe both, I read about it once, it wasn't very exciting.)
  • DVD Drive (J:) is the youngest, and probably most inferior drive on the computer. He can read/write just fine, it's just that he's made of awful plastic that cracks pretty easily, and I'm afraid I'm going to knock him over or something, and then he'll die. He's the only guy that can read Nintendo Wii discs, so if you ever need a Wii iso ripped he's your guy (except you'd have to go through me and possibly shipping, and just get your wii isos elsewhere you lazy bum!)
  • CRYPT1 (L:) is named that because it's written on the side of him in sharpie, and crossed off for some reason.
  • TEXT_BACKUP (M:) used to be a backup for text documents and pdfs, but not anymore. Not sure why though.

You didn't? Mine's "Betsy - The Wife" for my SSD and my backup drive is named "Emma - The Mistress". I have my secondary terabyte drive split into multiple parts, "Little John - Son" and "Little Suzie - Daughter" but that only accounts for half of the drive, the rest is split up into 50 gigabyte segments called, "Illegitimate Children".

Just kidding. That's weird. And it felt weird to type.
