I know we said that DYOM Version 7 was probably the latest DYOM version. That was due to the limits of the code. We were literally at the limit, we couldn't add any features. For the last few versions, we rewrote large parts of the code, so that it would take less space. After version 7 it wasn't possible any more to rewrite the code and create more space.

However... We wanted to make a bugfix version for you guys. We thought that the DYOM community deserved a version in which the major bugs were fixed. After we fixed lots of bugs, we wanted to add features. We wanted to give you guys what you deserve for being such a wonderful community.

There was only one way to create more space for adding features: only support CLEO 4. Because of the more possibilities of CLEO 4, we can make the same code using less space. DYOM Version 8 will not work with CLEO 3. If you want to install CLEO 4, please make sure that you have a compatible exe, since there aren't as many compatible exe's as for CLEO 3.

You probably wonder which features we added. First, we added a lot of special effects, so that you can decorate your missions even more. In the first screenshot below you can see a fountain, two flames, sparks and one of many types of smoke. In the second screen you can see a light, a waterspray and one of many types of fog. We also added 11 types of explosions as well as many types of fire...

We also added some possibilities to the way of making cutscenes. You can also choose for 1st person view or 3rd person view. Besides, you can use slowmotion camera and shaking camera.

For your convenience, we added quick browsing for actors, cars and objects.

Although i'm super excited to see new missions with these features, But are there more than just decorations & a few cutscene upgrades?

 

And i think i will stick to DYOM7 for awhile cause of Cleo 3.

YESSSS! Question: Will be possible put the "Text introduction" out of the 3 first objectives on the missions of V8? Are you working on that? Thanks. And slow motion for cutscenes?

Just saying, Im glad I could help you guys fix the game breaking bugs. :)

 

@Shahonix I believe it will be the same as it was with v6 and v7. You can play all missions with the latest version, it is just you cannot play v8 missions on v7 or lower.

 

Also, I am planning to work on a trailer for this update. Not sure exactly how I am going to do it yet, but I am thinking of a trailer that is like a parody of the GTA V Gameplay trailer :D, with a voice over lol and showing off what you can  do with the new features. Should be fun :p

Don't forget to add feature like this: an actor chase/follow/attack another actor. Because it's very useful. Thank you so much Dutchy3010 and PatrickW, you make this game amazing. Keep it up ;)

It's probably something like "Follow actor" but it's like "Go with actor", that means if actor is leaving Room 1 and entering Room 2, the camera doesn't stay in R1, but follows him to R2.

 

And about the whole idea... AWESOME!!!!!

As requested; we also added the feature to use the exact location of an earlier cutscene. Quite useful for making a dialogue.
