I'm looking for a good off road vehicle. I started with a rebel, but traded that for a mesa. The mesa couldn't climb for spit, so I tried the Dubsta. The Dubsta is a beast, but I would like another off road rig as well. I tried the Sadler, but the long wheel base causes it to high center on everything.

So help me out guys. What's a good off road 4x4 that I've overlooked. Anyone have a list of all the 4x4 vehicles?

Rebel is an awesome 4x4 until you need to turn.

Elegy. Hands down.

Elegy for off-roading? Good luck with that.
Try a Sultan. Stock it's crap, but upgraded it owns the dirt.

I do it all the time. You can drive up the side of Mt Chiliad at full speed without losing traction. Its ridiculous.

The Rebel is the best (In my opinion) and one of the only few vehicles in the game that actually has functioning 4WD. I prefer the clean Rebel. It dont have the cool mod options but it sounds better and doesnt look like a rusty piece of sh*t.

I was trying to pick one as well today, still deciding between patriot vs sandking. Patriot having the best clearance without the large tires and sandking for its huge learance but the size difference is still in question, and also the sandkings rwd seem like a let down.

bohdi is the best imo

a fully upgraded bohdi can climb the steepest slopes with ease

it has the widest body and i have yet to overturn

its also one tough vehicle

i used to like rebel alot but the ease of toppling makes me sell it

mesa and dubstar also topple fairly easily

Is the Bohdi 4wd though? The OP was asking specifically for an off road 4x4.
Either way, Mr. Raspberry Jam is not available as an upgrade, so I wouldn't feel right recommending it.

As people are kind of getting at, due to the "relaxed" physics it basically doesn't matter what you drive if you're trying to get up the steepest hills. You could get up a 70 degree ascent with a Primo no problem.

If you're into some kinky 4X4 roleplay 0 then whatever you like the look of. Don't pass over the new Kalahari and the new BF Bifta, while not 4wd, is a beast with the sound to match.

Not a Kalahari fan, but the Bifta is fun to drive.  Have it as a troll car with full chrome, aqua rims, and the clown horn.

My vote for best off-road vehicle goes to the BF Injection. The Sultan is too slippery.

I have asked a valid question without resorting to childish insults. This is what's known as having a discussion.
As for who is the idiot ahole, I think you have answered your own question.

And yes, I stand by my original recommendation of the Sultan. You are free to have your own opinions, as am I.

I also recommend the Sultan, it's actually great off-road. Not a lot of competition really. Obviously leave the suspension stock, but it's an excellent 4 door fast car, with good handling. One of the few cars in the game with all wheel drive. Can easily out-climb most "off-road" vehicles

Also, if you notice the title, the OP asks for best All-around 4x4 vehicle.. Yep , that's the Sultan.

Bohdi is 4x4 and a beast

best true 4x4 is the rebel and patriot depending on your passenger needs.

Best mountain climber is sadly the Entity XF, It handless the hills way too well.

I wish for a Sandking XL 4X4.

For genuine 4x4 off-roading I be looking at:

- Blazer (either version)

- Bodhi

- Mesa

- Rebel

- Baller

Might be worth seeing if the miltary Crusdar fits your needs as well - potential bonus is that it doesn't need a garage spot as it stays with Pegasus.

Also some RWD stuff to think about;

- Hotknife

- BF INjection

- Dune Buggy

And the most random one of all, the Declasse Tornado seems to be setup more like the Mesa so might be worth a try if you can grab one some time.

Over time I've owned:

fully modded Rebel (looked the business, ok off road, hopeless on road),

fully modded Dubsta (excellent on & off road ,cept clearance - the only one I still own),

fully modded Bodhi (excellent off road, a little large but good on road),

fully modded Sandking XL (fun, but too bouncy off road with poor traction, hopeless on road),

fully modded Bifta (good off road 'cept clearance, great on road)

Plus another I haven't seen suggested here:

fully modded Rancher XL - pretty much as good as the Dubsta off road, a bit slow on road, 4wd I think. If you can find one it's worth a try.

Forgot, also had a Merryweather Mesa, but that was hopeless anywhere, only looks going for it.

The Merryweather jeep....Canis Mesa is the best one in my opinion. Especially for getting up steel hills / mountains.

Plus it can go through deep water thanks to its huge wheels and snorkel exhaust.

You mean snorkel intake right?

Also.  Nothing truly works 4x4 in this game.  The front wheels can be made to spin, but they are not coded to be "power" wheels.

Don't believe me?  Take your truck of choice, get it high centered so the back wheels are off the ground and see just how useless your front wheels are.  Couple that with the bullsh*t "Traction" bar the game has.

The Sandking should be an unstoppable offroad monster.  2 very large problems.  The front diff?  Just for show.  It doesnt even have a driveshaft for petes sake.  Also, because the of the traction bar, those gigantic wheels?  No traction.  This thing has a hard time pulling it's own weight up a normal hill, let alone off road in it.  Rockstar apparently has no conception of how large knobby off road tires, a powerful diesel engine, and 4x4 can serve a truck off road.

But hey.

We sure can lower everything.

OH.  Boy.

/\ Accurate. Would be nice if we could jack up the off road vehicles instead of lowering them. Only trouble is the Sandking mashed itself against the roof every time I took it out of the garage as it was...

Also, MW Mesa good at hills? I found it awful. I think some people are talking about flooring it and using momentum to take you up a slope, whereas others are talking about the ability to climb under control using smaller throttle openings, i.e. engine power and grip alone. These things are very different and why some people think the Elegy is a good off road vehicle.

I'm not sure how you know what amount of time I've spent in game, but ultimately it doesn't matter.
I suggest we agree to disagree and put an end to this pointless argument.

It seems that a lot of you are forgetting most of the other 4x4's. Try the Karin BeeJay XL. It hasn't got a lot of clearance but it will climb. I would put money that it's got the best 4x4 system in the game.

Youre right, a regular mesa cant climb for sh*t...

What you need is a hacked mesa with merryweather suspension. Thats right. And not i dont mean a merryweather mesa, that the mercs drive, that thing cant even climb a speed bump.

No. What you need is the regular messa with merryweather tires and suspension. Its torque is way better than a rebel. I did a side by side comparison between the two, and the rebel just failed compared to the mesa.

So get that. Or a bf injection, those are descent and easier to aquire.

He's actually right.

A stock Elegy with a roll cage and offroad tires CAN EAT MOUNTAINS

Sultano is pretty good but the weight of the Elegy helps it EAT BABIES.

seriously.

Elegy. Hands down.

Elegy for off-roading? Good luck with that.
Try a Sultan. Stock it's crap, but upgraded it owns the dirt.

Stop listing pos Mesa. It's not 4x4, super slow and always flips.
