The bins out on the streets to the worn down roads, the highly detailed buildings... to me uit feels like a real life city, the underground metro, nothing better than standing on vinewood hill looking down at the city at night. dat draw distance is so nice.

It's weird GTA IV looked it's best at night and GTA V looks it's best during the day, especially when in the air.

The only two things, to me, that have that "wow" factor (as far as detail/graphics) was the water/waves and the pavement on the roads.

I have noticed a lot of really nice things.... but as far as the "wow" factor... those are the only two.

GTAV is visually beautiful and detailed on the micro scale and the macro scale, day and night.  The designers did a fantastic, totally world class job.  It is amazing.  :^: :^:

As noticeably detailed the world is, it's the little hardly noticeable things that amaze me.
-You can shoot out traffic lights, thus causing crashes after people stop panicking. This can also be done with street lamps.
-Power lines sway in the wind.
-If you rev your engine next to another driver, they will sometimes race you.
-Flip flops actually flop.
-Cars make that "tink tink tink" sound when cooling off.
-Pedestrians take pictures of cool views and nice cars.
-The lights inside your car turn on if the doors are open.
-You get bruises and cuts depending on the way you were injured.
-If you stalk people they will call the police.
-The moon phases change, and with it, the night time lighting.
-If you are in a shoot out with the cops and shoot one in the leg, another will drag him to safety.
-Puddles form realistically as it starts to rain. The longer it rains, the bigger the puddles.
-Your character will grow stubble.
-Break a window and walk over the glass. It will crunch.
-Your shoes will squeak if they're wet.
-Crashing a car into a house sometimes leads the residents to yell or, at night, turn the lights on.
-Hobos' faces twitch when they are sleeping.
-The clothes you buy actually show up in your wardrobe, making it look more full.
-Franklin gradually unpacks his boxes after moving to his new house.
-Banging prostitutes increases you stamina.
-Punching people with glasses breaks them or makes them fly off.
-At high wanted levels, police quit shouting to each other and use gestures.
-If you track water into your house as Michael, Amanda yells at you.
-If someone is sitting in a chair, you can kick the chair out from under them.

Honestly all HD era Rockstar games have incredible detail, so its to be expected. I was surprised for only about a week or two. IV's and V's cities still have places I haven't found today...

Yes I know. Los Santos is simply gorgeous and incredibly detailed, even two months after it came out finding new things every day. The detail in every Rockstar game is always something I appreciate.

The amount of detail for systems that were designed nearly a decade ago it's outstanding. Check out how the red siren light reflects on the wet road:

Same with Trevor's - use a gun a shoot his trailer. He sends you a text telling you to stop.

Perhaps my favourite detail is when you get out of the water not only will water drip creating puddles, but you can see where your clothes are wet and dry. I done this with Franklin the other day and his clothes stayed wet for a fair while and you could see the dry patch on his shirt.

Really cool stuff.

I do like the fact that cars no longer entirely turn black when they burn. It seems only the engine and cabin burns like most real car fires.

That's what I thought. I remember telling a friend (prematurely, it turned out), Wow, this is awesome, it looks so great, they've improved upon everything! And then I actually started playing it...

Nice to see a positive thread, and that list is great.

What amazes me is the detail in pedestrians faces. I often take my phone out - not to photograph them but just to get a closer look at the expressions and movement of them.
