They never said who he was or where Toni went to hide, anyone know who it is and if it's a reference to any other game like GTA SA?

But CJ wasn't a made man, he wasn't even Italian.

But he "made" it, right? He's Madd Dogg's manager, owns a garage & airfield, has a stake in the 4 dragons casino, etc...

I'm imagining the kind of mayhem and riot that might ensue if Rockstar ever officially announces it to be indeed the case.

But, why would Toni Cipriani needed to go on hiding for having killed Carl Johnson? A lot of Carl's business partners knew how Salvatore was mad about the Caligula heist, it's only natural that Carl's friends would have considered the Leone as one of their main suspects. And even if Salvatore openly says he didn't ordered the hit, who says the Grove Street OGs and the Triads would have believed it and not jump onto the next plane and parachute into Liberty, dual wielding tech-9s?

So what was the point of having Toni go into hiding for four years if the Leone would have been traced back regardless?

Then again even if Toni killed a made man from one of the Liberty City Mafia, they could have also basically looked and ask "who gets to profit from the hit" and who has "recently lost an employee" and also traces back to the Leone. I mean, wouldn't there be enough suspicions for it?

I've never been part of the mafia so I wouldn't know, but how does this work anyway? does the killing of a made man sends shivers and panic down an entire organization and they wouldn't think of adding two and two, figuring out who ordered the hit?

From what I know there is specific code of conduct if you want to dispose of the made man. One of the main points says that his Don have to agree on this.

In this case Salvatore wanted someone dead, but his boss didn't agree on losing one of his people. Toni made the hit, but since he wasn't made (only made man can kill another one without death sentence), he would be dead as code of Mafia ordered Sal to gave them Toni. Cipriani went deep into the hiding, leaving Sal's with his hands tied, which saved his life.

yeah but just coz he's successful doesn't make him qualified as a made man

pretty sure it was someone Italian from another family, plus there would've been mention of a gangbanger dude who was a manager of a famous rapper, if it was CJ

God, this sounds so ridiculous. But the worse part is, that really happened in SA. Damn, what a crappy storyline.

Grove Street OGs did not participate, but CJ and the Triads did parachuted their way onto Mad Dogg's mansion in Los Santos to kick the Vagos drug dealers out.

So it isn't so far fetched as to believe them to pull the same stunt elsewhere, like in Liberty.

At that point the Leone still didn't ruled Liberty City either. They only had a mansion and a couple of warehouses, nothing unchallengeable.

seconded but I was hoping it was a reference to someone from another game

also if it does cause some sort of riot at least it'd bring attention back to this game, the forum on this game is quite empty

I like to believe its CJ just for the sense of closure it brings to the series.
